I'm waiting in for a delivery today so I'm having a blast listening to YouT ube and just pottering around. So far I've listened and very badly sung along to The Mountain Goats Nirvana Dolly Parton Franz Ferdinand The Strokes Neil Diamond Barbra Streisand Kelly Clarkson Johnny Cash The White Stripes
I think that probably looks like an odd selection How about you, how diverse is your taste in music? What are listening to right now/lately?

Nirvana Franz Ferdinand The Strokes Kelly Clarkson Johnny Cash The White Stripes
Bob Marley Elvis Eminem Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac Depeche Mode Beatles Perry Como The Decembrists Abba Willie Nelson
I tend to describe it as eclectic but diverse works too. To be honest I haven't added much to my collection in recent years, but I have all of the above in my iTunes.
Here's another small selection:
Aerosmith Barry White Belle & Sebastian Catatonia The Cure Damien Rice Dizzee Rascal Eliza Doolittle The Enemy Goldfrapp Guns 'n' Roses James Morrison

I like a lot of the same as above...and I'm embarrassed to say (since we're being honest here about our musical afflictions) that I have also been listening to my ridiculously extensive collection of Christmas music.

Oh yes, must get some Abba on Thanks for this post, it reminded me of how good music is for the soul, which is a reminder we all need, and I should be listening to more music and less news! I have just been listening to some of my favorites after readying your post. I can't recommend Perry Como enough. I've been a fan since I was a toddler. If I'm in a bad mood I rock out to some Perry. You can't help but feel happy when you're twirling around your kitchen to "Hot Diggity Dog" Hot Diggity Dog
And on that note, I will head off to work, in a much better mood than I expected to be after logging in here!

I would have said no not so much, but then I decided to look in my iPod. lol. Yeah, I guess it is. Mostly it's due to my daughter and all those years that I spent driving her around since she was so late getting her license. I just randomly looked down my list of artists on my iPod: -- Neil Diamond -- Taylor Swift -- Beethoven -- Miriam Makeba -- U2 -- Bruce Springsteen -- Bobby Sherman -- Gregory Alan Izakov -- Mumford and Sons -- Hayley Westenra -- Soweto Gospel Choir -- Peter, Paul, and Mary -- Pete Seeger -- Judy Collins Plus others... eta: and lots of what others replied above. I'd forgotten about Abba, I haven't listened to them in awhile. I think I'll play music today and clean my living room.

like jennyap I tend to use eclectic to describe my tastes in music - I listen to pretty much anything except rap....from classical to psychedelic folk; from country to alternative; from pop to heavy metal; from mediaeval to modern... I will say jazz and motown tend to be underrepresented though.

I just transferred my Christmas playlist to my phone. 15 hours of music. 6 versions of Jingle Bells and 12 versions of Silent Night. It's currently playing.

My taste is pretty diverse as evidenced by my programmed channels on satellite radio. I have:
Hits 80s 90s First Wave (80s new wave) Lithium (grunge) Alternative Rock Bar Yacht Rock (my fave) Turbo (90s and 2000s rock) Old school hip hop and the Garth Brooks channel

I'm a music person, but not really if that makes sense. I hit scan on the radio and stop when I like the sound. I have set stations that are pop, alternative, country, oldies, and hard rock.
I am however, TERRIBLE at remembering who sings these songs. I haven't bought any music in several years. I'm happy with the radio and spotify.

If I had room I'd add a classic country station...Dolly, Loretta, Johnny Cash.

I recently made a Spotify playlist to listen to while I do mundane tasks at work and it varies from classic rock to 90s pop, 80s alternative, early 2000s pop punk, classic country, 90s rap, and current folk pop. I like going through different styles throughout the day.
But I'll be honest, if I never heard a Nirvana song again I would be thrilled. They are completely overdone and overplayed on the radio in my city.

Kind of. Mostly I listen to hip hop, modern rock (not sure what the current term is but bands like Arcade Fire and The Shins), singer songwriters (like Lana Del Ray and Nick Cave), and Broadway cast albums. I also have a fondness for anything I listened to in the 80s and early 90s much to my husband's amusement.

I'm a music snob but I do listen to a small variety. I love reggae, 90's hip hop, alternative/college radio from all decades, punk, and singer songwriter. I refuse all country and hard metal. Can't do it. Makes my ears bleed.

I don't like slow music. All ballads are out for me, along with classical and jazz. My iTunes account has a lot of 80s alternative, old school gangsta rap, and 70s disco.

My daughter says my musical tastes are all over the place. When they were still home I would put on something classical or Frank Sinatra to clear them out of the house. lol
I was thinking of people I have seen in concert over the years:
TG Shepard Crystal Gale Marty Robbins Cheap Trick Head East Scorpions Megadeth Styx Eddie Money Foreigner Steve Miller Alabama Bon Jovi
I like some opera, also. I love musical soundtracks - Broadway and some of the old movie musicals. I was just listening to some Volbeat.
There are also things I like that most people, that I know, haven't heard of like Asylum Street Spankers and Dropkick Murphys.

No, I listen to pretty much only country. I recently realized I'm not much of a music fan at all, and that kind of makes me sad. I feel like I'm missing an important gene.

Old, new love it all. I grew up listening to country and only new the cool songs that played when I went to high school dances but can't say I enjoyed a lot of it. I do enjoy 80s/90s glam rock bands Bon Jovi etc. Which is what todays country sounds like. I like Adele, Matchbox 20/Rob Thomas, and totally out of left field Imagine Dragons. Other than that I just like songs not artists specifically.
