Do you have a great relationship with your SIL? I'm thinking you do, or she'd not feel comfortable enough to call So late with the change. Or she's just a b*tch. I'm hoping my first guess was right Dh would say the latter. Notice that she called and spoke to him (he did answer the phone). Fortunately, I was in the shower.. or not fortunately because I had in mind that I was taking a shower, then having lunch before the movie. Dh was caught by surprise and forgot about the movie. LOL. Not like we would have had much of a choice. Wasn't going to abandon her. And I can hear SIL complaining. A move is overwhelming, but man oh man, it's not like you weren't offered an out a week ago. Anyway, the basics are picked up. The kitchen table is only half way decluttered and the dining room is unusable by anyone but me. I don't think dh cleaned the shower either like he said he would. I'm not doing it. I never do. I don't clean and I don't cook. While I do like to eat and I prefer someone else to do the cooking part. I was obviously meant to be incredibly wealthy and have a staff to deal with these issues.

You could always say, sorry but no, it isn't convenient, especially as you have dumped this on me without any warning.

Melissa, enjoy your MIL time. ::Shaking my head:: I'm sorry you're so disorganized. My house is always company ready. I get all my dusting and vacuuming done every morning well before noon and so my afternoons are free - if I'm not out lunching and shopping with friends I'm curled up on the couch with a good book and now that cold weather is here, a fire crackling in the fireplace. I always have my refrigerator stocked with food just in case we get unexpected guests. When I get an unexpected phone call regarding guests coming, I need 1.5 minutes tops to pull down the covers of the guest bed in a most welcoming way and put a pitcher of fresh ice water on the nightstand. Oh, I also fluff the pillows in my living room. Just kidding. I'd be stressed out worse than you were. Kudos to you for getting everything done. I love seeing the affection you have toward your MIL. Enjoy your time with her! You got me, too. I was thinking, "If you have so much time, offer to help!" My house is horrible right now because we are moving rooms around, and are painting and getting ready to install new flooring. I was tempted to suggest eating out Thursday, but we did that once and I hated it. So, we will make sure the kitchen, dining, and living rooms are useable and hang with our kids.

But my eyes are bad and I can't see all the specks on the carpet or the dust lying everywhere! So first glance, my house looks ready for company, until you do a more close-up scan!
