Medisterkaker, so none of my fussy feeders complained. And now it's time for chocolate and tea for me, before I finish the last of the cards for the card swap.

Dh picked up half of a spiral ham yesterday so we're having that with baked macaroni and cheese. Dd wants to make a broccoli cheese casserole her Nana used to make. It uses Velveeta, aka in my world as fake cheese. Dh won't eat it but I will! It will be a cheese overload for sure but that's okay. I'm going back to eating healthier tomorrow...as long as this bag of Almond M &Ms that jumped into my cart at Walmart yesterday is gone (and I'm sure it will be!)!

We had baked potatoes at Costco earlier - I had chicken and bacon topping, hubby had chilli with cheese. I told hubby that today is the last weekend Costco visit until after Christmas it was packed! Soup was on the menu for tonight but we're both too full at the moment.

But almonds are healthy and chocolate has dairy, so I don't see any problem there. Velveeta is a fake cheese, as far as I am concerned. I don't see it very often, here in my part of Canada. I tend to use Chez Whiz, scooping out what I need into a glass dish and then melting it in the microwave. My jar says that it is made with Real cheese and NO artificial flavours or colours. Enjoy your dinner. Are you going to make a bean & ham soup with the leftover bone? I love homemade bean & ham soup.

Tonight is Sunday Night Supper Club at mil's. its mil's turn to cook, I hear we are having party wings and potato wedges, celery and carrot sticks.
I never care what's for dinner as long as I don't have to cook it!

I am finally getting to cook my turkey that was delayed because I couldn't find one of the ingredients for the marinade. It has been in the sauce since last night and I will be popping it into the oven in about an hour. What I am really after is the carcass to make soup. I use all the drippings/marinade as the soup base and it is the best I've ever tasted. I probably won't get the soup made tonight though. Tomorrow for sure.

I make a broccoli dish with Mexican Velvetta that everyone raves about. It is the only time I buy Velvetta. We're having either homemade soup or gumbo, whichever one my hand grabs when I open the freezer door. It's a beautiful day for a wedding in the Bay Area. May the wedding be joyful!

Lean ground beef is on sale this week. I picked up a 4.5 kg package. The meatball mixture is almost ready to go into the oven.
I love it when there is something already made that can be added to make a dinner quickly.

Here are the ingredients for American Cheese Whiz: There are 27 ingredients listed on the Cheez Whiz label, including whey, canola oil, milk, milk protein concentrate and maltodextrin. Other ingredients include sodium phosphate, whey protein concentrate, salt, lactic acid, sodium alginate, mustard flour, vinegar, molasses, corn syrup, water, caramel color, garlic powder, sugar, spices, tamarind, sorbic, milkfat, cheese culture, oleoresin paprika, annatto, natural flavor and enzymes.

DS is headed back to school in an hour or so. Dh and I will have the chicken tenders and pierogies I picked up at the store. Much to my surprise, when I got home, I discovered that they are coconut chicken tenders, so we won't be using the buffalo sauce that I have!

As usual, we had our main meal at lunch time today. We had schnitzel with spätzle and mixed vegetables. Normally I would be at my SnB group this evening, but no one else posted on our FB group that they were coming and it is cold and wet out, so I decided to stay in. We've just done leftovers and soup for dinner and will have coffee with lebkuchen later.

I think tonight's dinner might be soup and crusty bread. I have the ham bone left over from thanksgiving and wanted to try making split pea soup out of it. However the stores seem to be out of split peas so instead I bought a 14 bean mix and tossed it into the crockpot with the ham bone, chicken broth, carrots and spices. We'll see how my excper experiment comes out and if not there's always take out lol.

Glad to be joining in this thread again - last week was CRAZY with relatives staying with us and several Thanksgiving get togethers. I am thrilled to have *nothing* to do the rest of the day! The kids are watching a movie and I am peaing/working on a Christmas calendar for my mom. We are almost finished with leftovers, so tonight I think I'll make a roasted potato/sausage dish and some green beans.

Well, the almond m & ms won't be taunting me any longer quiltz would you care to share how you make your ham and bean soup? I grew up with split pea soup made from the ham bone but we don't like it. I'd like another option! There are 18 ingredients on the Velveeta label. The small print on the box top calls it "pasteurized recipe cheese product." The casserole has butter, broccoli and Ritz crackers in it. I haven't had it since I divorced my ex in 1998 or earlier.

KelleeM I take the ham bone and place it in my soup pot with 6 cups of water. Chop up an onion into quarters and pull apart a bit. Add 3 stalks of celery with the tops, chopped up into thirds, 2 carrots, sliced down the middle & then into thirds, 1 tsp. salt, 1/4 tsp of rosemary, 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce and 1/4 tsp pepper & 2 bay leaves Bring to a boil and then let simmer for 2 - 3 hours. Remove the onion, celery, carrot & bay leaf. I let this cool down a bit and then strain the broth. Then let it cool down (in fridge) to let the fat rise to the top & when hard, remove. Prepare 1/2 cup of split peas (I like yellow) according to the directions, usually 1/2 cup to 1 cup water and 1 1/2 cup broth (from above). Simmer this and 1/2 chopped onion for about 45 minutes or until tender. Take a hand blender to make this smooth. Add this to the remainder of the stock and add 1 large carrot that has been peeled and finely shredded and the amount of ham that you like, finely chopped. Bring to an almost boil (before the bubbles start) and simmer for about 1 hour. You can also add some finely chopped celery if you wish. You can garnish the soup with some chopped crisp bacon or cultured sour cream. It is the rosemary (I like to use fresh and tie it in a small bundle) and the Worcestershire sauce that give this soup the flavour. Enjoy!

Okay. We still have turkey left and lots of it. I am tired of seeing it in the refrigerator, moving it around to make room for groceries. Tomorrow will be turkey pasta salad for sure.
Dd is still here from grad school so I bought pork chops and will make diced potatoes in butter to go with them. Fresh applesauce and broccoli, too.
We still have chocolate pie left from Tgiving. Time to finish that off, Mr. Desertgirl and Daughter-of-Desertgirl!!!!
Thanks for the thread.

Tonight is spiced country style ribs, smashed potato salad, and the leftover crockpot cream corn from yesterday - yum!

Somehow I missed it was a wedding day for your family today lucyg - hope it all goes well and that you are having better weather than us in So CA! We have had rain and stormy winds all weekend. DH is adamant we don't need the furnace on yet (he wants to make it to Dec) but I do have the fireplace going for the first time this year. I mistakenly ordered 4 cauliflower heads in our CSA box last week so will be baking 2 in a cauliflower cheese casserole for dinner along with grilled pork tenderloin medallions.

I decided to have another fasting day after my fat-laden fish and chips from Saturday night. Plus I felt a bit dodgy in the tummy - I wonder whether it's because I have been eating reasonably well and hadn't had junk for 8 weeks? Consequently all I ate was a can of Campbell's vegetable soup.
