They were not shown in any class that I attended growing up. The district I taught in encouraged the showing of the 2008 inauguration. I can't remember what happened in 2012. I would think if it fits with the class you are teaching, like American History or government, it would be shown.

I don't want to watch because I know I'll be crying when Pres. Obama leaves office. That said, I hated that people were so upset that their kids would be addressed by Obama, and I wouldn't be so petty to call for a banning of the Inauguration in school for Trump.

Depends.
5 -10 minutes for the swearing in? Fine no problem
Speeches, etc in history or government or civics class where it fits and will be teachable - great
All the pomp and circumstance, motorcades, and other blather that will be in TV all day, no I don't think that would be valuable time to take from a lesson. Wether it be Obama or Trump or Hiliary.

I was in high school for Obama's first inauguration. Our school was showing it, teachers could choose if they wanted to bring their classes. My teacher said "they've never shown any other inauguration so I don't think should be any different" and told us we'd be marked absent if we went. Only time I ever considered skipping class in high school. But, we were having a review day for our test and I really needed that, so I stayed.
I would hope they show it, I think watching it (live or after the fact) is a great learning opportunity for students.

My classroom does not have the technology to support this even if I wanted to. You don't have a computer with internet to watch a live stream? I can understand not having a SmartBoard or projector, but can't you watch it on a computer monitor? And I thought our local district was lacking in technology.
