No pussyhat planned, but my friends and I just reserved a room in Austin for the women's march there. Now to decide what to put on my sign ... Let me know what you decide. I am undecided. I'd like something pro-Planned Parenthood. I'd also like something pro-ACA. I also wouldn't mind something pro-Choice. I might have a two-sided sign : making 2 folding foam core sides/signs and then duck taping a handle on the back of one when I get downtown and then sandwiching and taping the other sign over that. My favorite one I've seen so far is nine letters in three lines: OMG GOP WTF It just covers such a variety of issues, don't you think?

To double-check, I am knitting hats for: eleezybeth , cucmc2 , and TheOtherMegWhen I'm done, I'll pm for addresses. Also, if you have a really large (like me) or small head, let me know so that I can customize a bit. I will probably have time to knit two more for others, if there is anyone coming to this part of the thread late. Let me know. If you still have time and space, I'd love to receive one to wear to my local march. Thank you! I think my head tends towards the larger side

I don't knit fast enough to make one in time, but I have pink fleece here and am thinking of making fleece pussyhats for DD and I to wear to the Philly March. Think that would be ok? Looks very simple to make. We do have pink ski caps a parent knit for the entire GS troop a few years ago that we could wear instead.
Love that 9 letter sign! Simple and to the point!

Today a yarn shop in my area had a pussy hat knitting party open to all who wanted to sit around knitting. Had a nice spread of snacks as well. Perfect day for it. It was raining most of the day.

Anyone who is going to D.C. and would like a hat, let me know. I'll knit as many as I can. We can meet up someplace, or I can mail out, if you cover the cost of shipping. Just reply and let me know! I am going to the march and would love one! I'm in DC and could meet up!

I finished the first last night, so that one is going to her.

My daughter and her cousin, along with my SIL are going. My daughter is busy knitting "pussy hats". I'll attend the march in Boston instead. I just cast on a pussyhat last night. Several friends and I are considering going to downtown Chicago on the day of the march. I hope to make a few hats (must knit furiously...) for us. I want to mail at least one hat to someone who will wear it in DC. Um....how fast can you knit? And can I buy two? I can't make it to DC, but I plan to go to the Los Angeles march and I'd love to have one of these!!

I am knitting slowly, unfortunately, because I am overwhelmed with work responsibilities right now. I have one hat ready to come off the needles when I get home, and I cast on another last night. I'm going to knit a few more if I can for some people who are going to the Chicago march, and I'm committed to one on this board already. I don't feel that I can promise that I can do it. I would love to take a few days off from work and do nothing but knit but that isnt going to happen.

I'm originally from Belgium. I worked long and hard for my U.S. citizenship. For the first time ever, Nov 8th, I was ashamed to be an American. My sister, who fought just as hard for her dual citizenship, was inconsolable that night. She questions why we worked so hard. We'll both be attending the March. We're going with several friends. It's not much but I can't just sit back and silently watch this man destroy what has become my country. My chemo neuropathy is quite severe. It's become very difficult for me to walk, even with my forearm crutches. But I'll be there dragging myself down the street on the damn things. My sister is excited. She's made felt p*ssy hats for everyone in our group. I want her to be proud of our citizenship, proud of our country. I'm hoping this will help us all feel a wee bit better about the coming years.

Some friends and I are renting a 12-passenger van and heading to DC on the 20th. We'll be marching on the 21st and we're very excited! I've been in discussion with a Facebook group that makes pussyhats, but they will not be able to get hats made for us in time. While I'm disappointed (I have zero knitting skills and only minimal sewing skills ), I'm happy that so many women are marching that all the group's hats spoken for!! If there's a Pea who could have a hat (or hats) in SW Ohio by the 19th, I'd be delighted to pay the costs (yarn, fleece, postage). We've ordered our rainbow infinity scarves from an Etsy crafter and I think pussyhats would complete the ensemble. SaveI wish I knew for sure I would be back by then, no one near me wants to go. I could've jumped in with y'all! Lol

BTW, I purchased my SmarTrip (DC Metro) card on 1/1 and it hasn't arrived. The site said it'd be shipped the next business day using 5-day shipping, so I called today. SmarTrip CS said orders 1/1 through 1/7 are shipping tomorrow and, yes, they know they're running very behind and will issue refunds if the cards arrive and people can't use them (if the cards arrive after people leave their homes for DC). If the cards don't arrive before we leave here, we'll have to buy them when we arrive, which will be no fun, I'm sure.
So, PSA: If you're planning to order a SmarTrip card online thinking it will get to you in the 5 days the site says, don't bother. Just buy one when you get there.
(The SmarTrip card CS people were lovely. They must be getting a ton of calls and the two people I spoke to were very nice.)

(The SmarTrip card CS people were lovely. They must be getting a ton of calls and the two people I spoke to were very nice.) Oh Wow. I just bought mine today.. the site says if you order by tomorrow you will get it in time for the Inauguration. Luckily we are going up on Friday so we should be able to buy them then if they don't arrive in time. I also read that if you buy it as a registered user and not a guest you would receive them sooner. I have read conflicting information on backpacks so I thought I would share the information from the website incase anyone else is confused. Q: Can I bring my backpack/bag to the march? A: Please note all bags may be subject to search. Backpacks are not permitted. Bags should be no larger than 8”x6”x4”. Specifically for people who would like to bring meals, each marcher is permitted one additional 12”x12”x6” plastic or gallon bag. For marchers who have medical needs or for mothers who need baby bags or breast pumps, one clear bag or backpack no larger than 17"x12"x6" will be permitted and subject to search (colored transparent bags are not permitted). Do not bring anything that can be construed as a weapon, including signage with any kind of handle (e.g. a wooden stick). We recommend also checking with your bus company if your bus will be secured during the march and if you can leave larger belongings in the bus, rather than carrying them all day.

Re-emphasizing the point about not bringing signs with sticks (this is true for NYC too). I hadn't thought of that until I was reading the information (I initially considered doing that because it seemed like it would be easier over the long haul and glad I saw the info).

We all created accounts on 1/1/17 and 1/2/17 and bought the cards through registered accounts on those dates. They should have been here by the 8th or so. I haven't even received the email notification that they've been shipped, so I called. (The email receipt said a notification would be sent when the card ships.)
The CS person I spoke to this morning said our cards should be here in time. I said we're leaving the morning of the 19th (before the mail arrives), so they need to be here the 18th. He said they're supposed to go into the mail tomorrow, so they should arrive by then. The "supposed" and "should" do not fill me with confidence, but there's nothing I can do about it at this point. If they arrive, YAY!, and if they don't, BOO! We're not talking a huge amount of money, and it's just the metro card and not the rental car or our lodging or something big. At worst, we'll have to go buy cards the evening we arrive so we're not trying to do it on the 20th-21st.
Thanks for posting the additional info regarding bags/backpacks!

I thought about writing something in Russian on my sign. But I think I'm going to go with something more generic like RISE UP. I do love what Merge posted - short and to the point, lol.
