They go on a cruise (she, her husband, and my niece) every year. It's a nerd cruise and this year the group has the entire ship so it's supposed to be even better than before. JoCo Cruise She's been trying to talk me into going for five years now. She also has cancer (dunno if I mentioned that here) but she does and she starts chemo the week after the cruise gets back. I'll be delaying my round an extra week so I'll feel as well as I can - about like I did last year when I went to see Hamilton - and they were able to upgrade their cabin to a four-person something or other with a balcony so my part, all in, is less than $650. She is beyond excited to share her tribe with me and they've welcomed me with open arms already (honestly it's a bit overwhelming!) but I'm really excited. The beach and the ocean is my favorite, this is my first cruise, and it will be a nice time with my sister when we're both feeling decent enough to have fun. We have another whole-family vacation planned for June so this is just for me. Although I don't technically need it, I am going to tomorrow to get my passport renewed (just in case) and I already paid for my bunk so I'm committed. Maybe I should be committed? Naah! This is going to be fun. Live while you're alive, people.

I love to cruise! And being able to do it with your sister is awesome. Have a great time!
And btw, I also use my passport when traveling, even when it isn't required. It just seems that the "people" are all so used to seeing passports that it seems like it bogs down things when they have to stop and look at a driver's license. I think it just makes things go smoother.
Enjoy!

Have the best time ever!!
DH and I are off to Cuba in late February (he doesn't know it yet though) - I'd love to try a cruise someday too. But I have horrible motion sickness (found that out going below deck on my brother's 32 ft. boat while in motion) and DH has no desire to cruise. But I still want to try!!

My BIL was really worried about seasickness the first time as he'd also had a lot of trouble on a smaller fishing boat but he said the ship is so big that it never has bothered him. In any case, I am a cancer patient and I have a veritable arsenal of anti-nausea meds at my disposal. Good, prescription-strength, Mac Daddy anti-nausea meds. I'm not worried.

I know my Mom loves cruises, and she gets motion sickness as well. But she has some over the counter meds and wears the sea bands all the time and said that really helps as well. Have the best time ever!!

It sounds like lots of fun! I did that cruise from Long Beach to Cabo with a large family group for Halloween, and we all had a blast. It's pretty far, so you have lots of time at sea to just hang out and relax. Some in our group went to a cooking class/demo at one of the hotels in Cabo. Others went zip lining. You're going to have a great time!

Virginia have an amazing time! A cruise was the only thing on my bucket list and I haven't gone. I'm so glad your sister wants you to spend this time with her and you allowed her to talk you into it. Come back with some crazy stories, ok?
Also this is the first time I'm reading about your sister also having cancer. A double whammy. I'm sorry. I hope she does really well with treatment.

Have a wonderful time! I'm taking a trip with one of my sisters this fall (Ireland) and can't wait. You're so right.. enjoy it while you can. I have a different perspective since my parents both died young, and that taught me, the little things don't matter and you have to grab joy everywhere you can.
I'm sure you'll have a ball.
