Anyone else see this yet? National Day of Patriotic DevotionI know there are probably a million other declarations that make as little sense as this, but I think the name of this on top of the ego of the declarer are what get me going. It honestly sounds like a North Korea or USSR thing!

Yes, I read about that this morning. Unbelievable.
Waiting for his birthday to be declared a National Holiday.

Yowza! Excuse my ignorance, but does anyone know if making these types of Presidential Declarations is common and we just don't hear about it? Or is this as self-centered and self-congratulatory as it seems?

Or is this as self-centered and self-congratulatory as it seems? I think it's at least somewhat common, but it's still self-centered and self-congratulatory. I know, for example, there's always some kind of special declaration at every council meeting here. But those are usually things celebrating OTHER people or accomplishments. "Boy Scouts Appreciation Day," or "Remember to Recycle Day," or "Insert Name of Local Hero Day." NOT "Let's Adore and Love and Honor and Worship Fearless Leader Day."

Since the day is already passed, should we expect it to be a bank holiday next year? I mean, as someone left of him I really just want to know if i will get a mandated day off work next year. Lol ::sarcasm since I'm on my phone and can't add emojis::

What does it mean? Is it a one off day, or every year?
He could have given us notice and we would have had a party. Stores could have sold National Day of Patriotic Devotion banners, buttons and balloons.

The tone just seems very different to me. I know these kinds of things are passed all the time, this one just seems to be framed very differently to me. Maybe that's just my bias.

Thanks for the link -that is what I was wondering about. YW. I know I had never caught wind of it before and some of them are pretty religious, surprised they didn't cause even a mild uproar. Maybe it is because they are kind of pointless, lol.

I think Snopes is going to be awfully busy for the next 4 years. Wouldn't it be nice if the "journalists" reporting these troublesome "facts" did 30 seconds of research to see that it's a total nonstory - but then I guess they wouldn't get clicks or shares or retweets.
