I normally don't do much scrapping between Thanksgiving and New Year's... just too many other things going on. Yesterday I spent ALL DAY organizing and cleaning my room. Put together a huge donation box to give to my friend, a preschool teacher (she loves it!). I came home from Church today and jumped right back in to scrapping. What a relaxing feeling: Scrapbooking, Netflix (and no, not chill!) Diet Coke!

I listen to a scrappy podcast- like Paperclipping Roundtable (an old one since they aren't making them anymore) or The Scrap Gals. It always puts me in the mood to scrap! Also, watching a process video by a favorite youtuber (like Victoria Marie) helps. To get going, I will start with a scraplift from Pinterest, or even a straight-out copy if I have the same supplies, or I will put together a page layout kit (like from Scrapbook Generation) or class kit that is already designed for me - no real thinking required. Either of those options gets my "muscle memory" going and the flow comes back. It's like a warm up for the later projects.

For a long time I barely scrapped b/c I just didn't have pictures to inspire me. I finally got a bunch of pictures printed and did a major reorganization of my pre-digital camera photos so I could find pics to scrap. I also watched a ton of Nicole911's youtube videos about prepping for Calvinball (i think that was late winter/early spring 2016). I made a bunch of kits (pp, cardstock, some extras but not a lot since I like to wait till I'm scrapping to add the extras) and matched up a lot of photos with them. I didn't use them for Calvinball, but now when I have a bit of time I can dig through my box of "kits" and pick something to work on.

Well I spent $16 on two mats for the cricut and PL cards that were marked down to 4.99 at Michaels yesterday. Plans did not work out for last weekend as my girl decided to have her sleepover in the den and not the living room. Tonight I am going to print/edit some pictures and get a game plan for Sunday. I like the idea of making kits from the stash. Thanks for all the ideas ladies!

I hope you get back into the scrapping grove! I usually start with either pictures I really want to scrap or a scrapbooking line that I want to work with. You could also arm yourself with a sketch or other source of inspiration that you really want to use.
I think it is easy to get overwhelmed when you feel far behind, but if you start somewhere and do something, it will help and hopefully get you back on track!

I look through my pics for one I want to scrap, and then just go at it. Also, for me, shopping always make me want to get all my stuff out and play. These are what usually get me going, too. And I need it! I haven't scrapped since before Thanksgiving and although I set my space back up (it's my dining room table, so during the holidays . . .) I just can't get myself to want to scrap. Shopping is not an option since I overextended myself at Christmas and have absolutely NO money for scrappy goodies right now. On top of that, there is a layout sitting there, taunting me, lol. It's halfway done, but I can't remember what changes I planned on making to the scraplift, so every time I walk by my table, I look at it, sigh, admit defeat and walk on by. I'm thinking you're right - put it aside and pick something I reeeeaalllly want to scrap and wait for the epiphany for that other page.

I'm thinking you're right - put it aside and pick something I reeeeaalllly want to scrap and wait for the epiphany for that other page. I have had to walk away from more than one LO. Some I come back to with new eyes and "fixed" after I have played with some different project; some I have declared "Good enough" and put away into my album; and some I have stored away with the paper line I started with (and may never be seen again). Don't let the judgy you be in charge of the creative you. Move on...

You are so right but it is so hard not to let judgy get the best of me. When I feel that happening, I remind myself of a saying my best friend's grandmother had: Man on a fast horse. This basically means, if a man rode by on a fast horse, would he notice? Of course, the answer is no. I say this out loud and am usually able to let it go and move on. Back to the op - I'm another one who needs something playing in the background. Either my iPod, or Project Runway are my go-to's. I'm actually scoping out portable DVD players so I can always have PR on. I can't see my TV from where I sit and my laptop is used for my cameo, so I 'need' something. I also figured an accomplice would help, so I have one of my scrappy buddies coming on Friday. Like you said, it's making an appointment, so it's harder to back out. Do you have any friends who scrap? Maybe you guys can get together. Doesn't have to be a regular thing - you don't want it to feel like an obligation - but I find I always do better when I have a partner in crime.

This past Saturday I joined a Virtual Scrapbooking crop hosted by Creative Memories. I was suppose to have the day off of work but had to cover for a co worker. So I printed out the 5 challenges and only got one done that day. However it was fun to see others post their finished work and I will be finishing up the other challenges. I have not scrapbooked for years! I have been making cards and doing crafts for others. I am going to look for other virtual crops. Though now I feel like scrapbooking again. I even bought a new paper trimmer with my 50% off Michael's coupon today. Been needing one for awhile. scrapbook generation puts on amazing virtual crops and they just happen to be doing one this coming Friday & Saturday. (3rd & 4th) they are held on facebook and you have to sign up...either go to scrapbook generation's fb page and there should be a link posted or search for "SG Scrap squad" group (you have to be a member of that group). there are games to play, including bingo which is very popular, and there are challenges for both 1- and 2-page layouts, cards, coloring pages and I believe they are doing planner challenges this time too. the very best part is that you have an entire month to finish all the challenges, even though the actual crop is only a few days. last crop there were over 1500 projects posted and it's so awesome seeing everyone's work you can win shopping money to their online store for both games and challenges, with all winners chosen at random (except bingo, of course). I have won for each of the 3 crops I've participated in and I get a ton done. hope to see you (and anyone else!) there! to the OP, my best bit of advice is to go easy on yourself and start with a more simple page. this is not the time to go crazy with mixed media, layer upon layer and tons of embellies. whenever I take a long break, I do a nice "easy" page that I know I can be successful with and will end up liking...if you end up with a hot mess because you were all excited, you may end up bummed and too upset to scrap anymore. hope that makes sense! it's definitely what works for me. once I get that first hurdle out of the way, my mojo is usually on hyperdrive. good luck to you and welcome back!!

I also saw that Design Space is going to do a scrapbooking crop in a few weeks. Apparently you have to do a 2 page layout to be considered invited. You can do more. You do the layouts in Design Space and share the link so that others can use your layouts. Apparently there were about 700 layouts from last year. I have this weekend off so I'll have to look at the generation one.

there is a virtual crop every weekend in this facebook group: www.facebook.com/groups/601382016666336/?fref=ts (bash your scrapbook stash) and it really helps me to keep my mojo. it is not a hosted crop. Just anybode who wants to join through skype can join and see if anybody is online and join the chat or the video chat. it's fun!
