I find that I have been using sketches more and more when I scrap. I really love Scrapbook Generation's sketch books. I have a Pinterest board full of sketches. It just makes things easier to me to have a starting point for a layout. Do you like working with a sketch?

I have just started to use sketches this year. So far I am enjoying it. Maybe because I have scrapped for so long I feel like I have come up with everything I can come up with, so using a sketch helps me "feel" like I am doing something new.

I have in the past.
I think maybe I should more in the future. Sometimes I feel like I am just sticking photos down wherever I have space.
But I do generally like my layouts. Even if they're not art quality. They're still fun.

Sketches are a great way to get the mojo going!
I find them most useful when I want to do something out of the usual. For example, I usually do multi photo 2 page spreads, but I use sketches for ideas for one-page-one-photo LO's. Sketches also help bring variety when I feel I am "in a rut". I have pinned a lot of sketches, and I go to Page Maps often.

I almost always start with a sketch but very often by the time I finish the layout it looks so different that you'd never know!

Yep I use sketches a lot - both for scrapping and card making.

I use them off and on. As other poster have said, they are great for when you are in a rut or just need to get going on a page.

I used to use them all the time. I loved the sketch books by Becky Higgins. A few years ago I almost completely switched over to pocket scrapbooking so no need for the sketches anymore.

I don't use them all the time but I love them. Especially for 2 page layouts since I don't make them too often.

I have to use a sketch! Otherwise I just sit there staring at my desk wondering where to start. What are everyone's favorite sketch sites? Here are mine: Scrapbook Generation Page Maps Hip Kit Club Cathy Zielske templates and a handful of online scrappers that I admire, so I steal their layouts for ideas.

One of the reasons why my most recent themed album came together so quickly was because I used sketches. I planned my layouts ahead of time by finding sketches and then choosing picture size and how many pictures per page. I love SG sketches, too. I like how the results are layouts that are photo focused and clean looking. I used this sketch last week and also used this layout by Tina Gale for inspiration on a layout of my kids and I loved how it turned out. I love sketches, even if I use them as a starting point and change things up. They're so helpful to me. Less sitting there staring blankly and more actual scrapping. I'd say I use them 75% of the time.

I use sketches most of the time. They help me get my mojo back and give me an idea of where to start my layout.

I've been looking at them lately to try to look for new ways to use up my smaller scraps

You can also join us on my monthly SKETCH/SCRAPLIFT challenge thread! I always look at the challenge thread. Sometimes I use your sketch. I'm a bad Refupea and don't post my results though.

I love sketches. I start almost all my pages with a sketch. You wouldn't know it though because I'm not really a rule follower and change halfway through to whatever is easier.

I use sketches and scraplift layouts quite often with tweaks to make them my own. Pinterest is an awesome resource. I also watch a ton of YT vid's and have gotten in the habit of trying something I see right away. Both are great for waking up the mojo.

Yes yes yes. I love sketches. But because I always have lots of photos I just can't do those pages with just one photo. So I follow the sketch, then I put more photos in a lot of the "white space" places.
I have many of the Scrapbook Generation books and I use the Page Maps sketches. I also use the sketches on the SKETCH/SCRAPLIFT challenge. Shimelle's recent Design Decisions class had some sketches too.
Scrappymom, thanks for posting those other sites.
Any other favorite sites for sketch ideas?

I love that KikiPea posts a sketch challenge here every month. I have attempted most of them since I joined. But could always go back and check out these challenges from past years. The Creative Scrapbooker magazine posts It's a Sketchy Challenge every month. The link is to the 2016 sketches. They are part of a Gallery that includes all the sketches and all the takes on them, so lots of ideas there. Debbie Hodge's Get It Scrapped has a Template and Sketch library but I don't know if it is accessible if you are not logged in as a member.

Another fan of scrapbook generations sketches. I most scrap double LO with 7 to 10 pictures.

I have never used a sketch, my own or someone else's. On my 8.5 x 11 real estate I don't have much room to work with anyway. On a 12 x 12 I love having a bigger canvas to do my thing and explore the possibilities. A sketch would not work for my scrap style.

I love sketches. Sometimes I follow them exactly but most times they inspire me and get me going enough to make it my own by the time it's done. I just purchased the latest volume from Creative Scrapper on Easy. I can't wait to use it. I also have an arsenal of pins on my pinterest divided up on different boards by the number of pictures in the sketch.

I have never used sketches. I never really paid attention to the resources available, just always did my own thing. I've seen some great ideas though, especially for cards, so I might start. It looks like a nice way to incorporate little embellishments and touches, which is something I sometimes struggle with.

I find sketches help me think outside my normal page designs. I know I'm guilty of using the same tried and true formulas for my pages and sometimes it takes a sketch to make me see there is another way to place the photos.

I like them when I'm at a crop away from home because that's when I use manufactured stuff like stickers and printed diecuts and it's easier for me with a sketch. When I'm scrapping at home, I have my laptop and cutter, so it's easier for me to design custom stuff (titles, paper piercings, diecuts) to fit the page than the other way around.

I use sketches a lot, more to get me started and then I take off from there. The other day I had 3 photos of my nephew. One picture was 4x6 and the other 2 were 3x4 size. All the sketches I was finding had the photos all in a row. I didn't want to do that. I knew how I wanted the photos to look, but was stuck on the rest of it. I started mindlessly looking through my card sketches and then instantly had an idea when pulling out a card sketch I really like. I had the layout done in about 30 minutes. A major record for me, as I can work on one layout for several days.
