I had planned to go to Washington with my kids for Spring break, but the 3 of us have agreed to skip it because we are so disgusted with what is happening in the US. we'll save our pennies and go to Europe this summer.

I'm a Canadian and I am being cautious about entering the US right now. Think I'll sit on it for awhile.

The administration announced today that it is considering asking foreign travelers for social media and contacts. I wouldn't travel to the US for fun until this all gets settled. You don't know what you potentially are facing. I think I made the right choice. I don't want to take part in this graziness. Canada is starting to look like a good option. Where are the best places to travel in the summer? i hear the Canadian rocky mountains are nice. I've only been in the winter, but if they are half as lovely in the summer, it will be very much worth it!

I do recognize that the US is more than Trump. I've met so many wonderful people there and I love the country. But like pierkiss said, travelling there now would mean supporting Trump with my money. And after reading the news about the muslim ban, I don't want to that. And who knows, maybe I will denied entry as well at some point. What's happening in the US is truly heartbreaking. I have an Australian friend who said there is a big push there to Boycott Us Travel. Something I fully support. If I was living abroad I would avoid coming to the USA.

Insulting me probably won't make me more inclined to visit. I'm not denying that there are many spectacular natural wonders in America and some of them also fall on my favourite places. But Disneyland has always been a refuge of childhood magic for my children and I and whilst I don't think Trump can spoil the beauty of natural attractions, Disneyland all of a sudden feels colder and uglier. I'm not saying that it's a rational thought process - just an emotional one. How on earth did she insult you? Her post was extremely condescending. As a fellow American, i cringed reading it, it's no wonder foreigners think we are a bunch of assholes.

On the flip side, as an American, I worry about traveling internationally because people might assume as an American that I'm a Trump supporter.

I wish all of you outside the US who have decided not to come to the US would email the White House and tell them that you had been planning a trip but have changed your plans because of what's going on. They need to know from all of you that there is going to be a loss in tourism dollars and why.

Where are the best places to travel in the summer? Ontario will open its arms for you in summer! If you go to Niagara, stay in Niagara on the lake, not Niagara proper. There's a busline that runs to the falls and all over for $7Cad a day. Take advantage of a nice lakeside cottage! Come and see me! Love your avatar!

I don't want to go down to the U.S. at all right now, but I will go because DH has some family stuff to tend to, and he really wants me to go with him. He has to go back shortly for some matters, and then again in the summer. He doesn't want to go back either, and it's his country of birth. But things have to be dealt with long before 4 years passes.
Once this is all dealt with, we will not be going back until that psychopath is out.

I'm going to NYC this summer, and as long as I'm not denied entry (who knows which countries end up on "the list" next) I'm going as planned. The US is so much more than Trump and his cronies. There are a lot of countries which I have no desire to visit.Ever. But the US is so far not on that list. You are correct, of course. I have a funny, inconsistent feeling to be honest about and to work around- China and Russia are also on our bucket list. Why do I not have the same feelings of reluctance about "supporting" them as I have recently developed about the US? This lack of logic on my part is out of character and needs thought. On the other hand, the times in my life when I have landed in trouble have been when I have tried to ignore a gut feeling. This is not to say that I will land in trouble while traveling in the US; maybe I am just protecting myself against disappointment. The visa process for SA'cans is very strict, always has been and I am sure will be further tightened. A big part of our desire to tour China and Russia has to do with seeing old history before it is gone. AK and some parts of Canada to see the bears before they are gone. The North West Passage. Maybe we should see modern US before all the best parts are squeezed out of you all? JK. Maybe.

I have a trip to Seattle planned for this year. Because Washington went Democrat, and because I'm wanting to see a Seattle Reign game before some faves retire, I won't cancel it. Also, the govenor's response to the EO impressed me. So I feel good about supporting Seattle. But no to Florida or any Republican state as long as he's in power.

I worry about traveling internationally because people might assume as an American that I'm a Trump supporter. I can understand your fear and as a reasonable person I will say that I know that that would be a daft assumption to make about you...but then again, as we know, a lot of people do make daft assumptions about large groups of people This is such an awful situation for a lot of Americans right now, caught up in this short sighted ban and Trump's prejudices

I think I made the right choice. I don't want to take part in this graziness. Canada is starting to look like a good option. Where are the best places to travel in the summer? Newfoundland, PEI, Québec City, Montréal, Banff, Vancouver Island. Victoria, in particular. Butchart Gardens is gorgeous and has great fireworks in the summer. what do they mean by contacts? As in friends list, email contacts or both? I won't give it to them.

It is Canada's 150th birthday this year, so as a bonus there will lots of things to do and see for free this year. Also, there are always crazy good festivals happening in the Summer which is a bonus for anyone wanting to see musical or comedic acts.

Yeah, remember that "slippery slope" that used to be a thing? This isn't a slope, it's a frickin' landslide. How long before other countries (besides Iran) decide that Americans are just not worth the risk - or that they will treat us the same way we treat their citizens? I can't say that I blame them. Iraq voted 2 days ago to cancel US visas, including those for journalists and contractors.

Well, now I probably would be turned back home at the US broder if I wanted to go. I wrote a message to the White House (who knew it was so easy?) telling them that I don't agree with current administrations cruel and illegal actions and because of that I won't be travelling to the US as long as Trump is in power. I probably ended up to some list. Too bad I can't come this year to Canada, the celebrations sounds fun! The trip to Italy is already booked, so that's my destination in the summer. But in the summer 2018 I will come to Canada! I've visited Toronto area years ago for a few days and always thought it would be fun to go again. And those who wandered why I choose to come to US rather than travelling in Europe, sometimes I think I'm grazy too! I've always liked the US -I like the fact that I can blend in and not to look like a tourist. You can speak English and everything is easy. And there's so much to see. So far I loved pretty much every city I've visited. When you go to Italy or any other countries where English is not their language, nobody speaks English and everyone knows you are a tourist. It is not always fun. Especially because I usually travel alone.

If I didn't live in the US right now, I would not be visiting here either. Both to boycott and for the uncertainty. In the end, money always talks and decreased tourism and loss of money will have an impact.
But on the flip side, will also say that if somebody already had a nonrefundable trip planned, I think they can still have a wonderful trip. I think you will find on a local level that on the whole people are still friendly and helpful.

I live in the Hudson Valley (1.5 hour train ride north of the city). If you want to visit up here for the day, I am happy to play tour guide.

I traveled to Israel even though I am NOT ok with the apartheid system there. Avoiding a problem does not help... seeing it in person may. I did not think that I was condoning the politics in Israel, but I did give me a chance to see firsthand what was real and what was not.

They'll soon know when those planes are landing half empty and the airlines start losing money though. Sad as it is for the people and jobs involved and I really do feel for you all that didn't vote for him, left or independents, even for the ones that actually didn't vote because they were in turmoil about their thoughts. At least you all had the courage of your convictions.
