Tonight dh is likely cooking due to the 3 day weekend. I tried soup last night and I'm still voting about whether or not that was a good idea.
What's on your menu?
Have a great Monday and a delightful week.

Have a great Monday and a delightful week. Are you on limited foods or npo? Hope you feel better soon!!! Tonight I am fixing a roast. The leftovers will be used tomorrow for tacos! In a bit we will be going to the bowling alley!

I am not sure what to have. I have an ultrasound this afternoon for some pain on my side and a little bump/lump. Very tender to the touch. So, my mind has been elsewhere this morning. I have to fast for 8 hours and I still have 3 1/2 hours before the appointment. I am hungry and getting grumpy!! And now I am whining.
I may stop at store after appointment and hopefully find something that will inspire me. Chicken and mashed potatoes sounds really good!

scrapmaven I hope the soup decides that it likes you and vice versa! Our steaks last night smelled off to me once they were cooked. I didn't touch them, but dh ate most of one. I had planned the second one for leftovers for tonight, but dh decided to go with my nose and we trashed it. That sucked because they were not on sale, but we really wanted to grill in the warm weather. Anyway (I feel like I say that a lot in these threads!), I had bought some prepared smoked brisket at Sam's on Saturday, so we will have brisket sliders tonight. I'm not sure what will be on the side.

scrapmaven - I hope the soup agrees with you. scrappert - all the best for your ultrasound. I hope they find out what is going on and can fix it quickly. Dinner tonight here is an old family recipe from my nanna, ricotta cheese and spinach pie. DH asked specifically for this - it is one of the foods I introduced him to that he has really taken a liking to. There will be leftovers for lunch tomorrow, of course! This coming week is going to be interesting dinner-wise for us. We have visitors arriving on Wednesday for a week, and I have no idea what I am going to cook for them, mainly because I can't remember if either of them have any particular likes/dislikes. I've cooked for them both before, but never at the same time. He is my older DS's best mate from High School and used to eat with us at least once a week back then; we knew her from Church youth group before they were a couple, and she has stayed with us in that time.

Hoping for the best scrapmaven . And scrappert , I hear ya! Our trip to DC was a total success! My girlfriend was so surprised to see dd and me at her front door on Friday. So much fun! We ate at Founding Farmers, a deliciousness not found in my tiny area. I actually snapped a photo of the recipe for their cornbread in the book they had on sale. Then I found the recipe online hahaha. I am making it today along with sausages and sauteed spinach and artichokes. Thanks for the thread.

I thought I was making beef stew but dh put the meat in the freezer last night because there were leftovers in the fridge. So I guess we're cleaning out the fridge...2 slices of pizza, some roast pork and potatoes, egg rolls and egg roll filling, crabmeat salad...I really want a big salad and we have lots of stuff for that as well.

I'm sitting here peaing because I can't get into my kitchen because painters are in there. It's about the last thing I need to do is take care of everything in my kitchen. I'm thinking I might go over to DS's townhouse and start getting organized over there because there are boxes piled high. Maybe lasagna for dinner. scrapmaven how awesome about the soup.

We're having chicken stir-fry. I have a lot of veggie odds and ends to use up. I'll eat mine over brown rice, while the rest of the family has white rice.

Everyone here has the day off, except me, of course, because mom's don't get a day off. I've spent the day in the kitchen and they've watched me cook 4 different things. I can't wait to see their faces when none of the things I cooked today are served tonight. Tonight we're having Italian vegetable soup (freezer), salads, and rolls. I love messing with them like that.

meh. I'm still not cooking. The 7yo is with his dad for the long weekend. I'll find something in the freezer for dinner. Tomorrow I'll be gone all day, so it might be fast food.

We had baked potatoes and Caesar salad - it was good and easy. We had taken the big dog to the vet - nothing wrong just an office visit to ask some questions and get some meds. He is 13 years old and we had to get the techs to help us get him out and in of the SUV - Pepper thought he was getting the royal treatment. He has hip dysplasis and arthritis of the spine. He can still walk and get around but it takes time. Vet was proud of how good he was doing. Thank goodness we love our vet(s) and love all the people that work there. They are wonderful.

@pascoepea I hope you are back up to 100% soon. scrapmaven are you eating food by mouth again? How wonderful and scary for you all at the same time. scrappert I hope you get good news and don't starve before your test..... We had visitors this weekend who brought Influenza A with them. Off to urgent care on Saturday and we all got scripts for tamiflue........expensive stuff, I sure hope it works...so two families had/have influenza A and the other family has strep throat and mono.......Then one of the families that were on Tamiflu got the pukey flu yesterday....it seems never ending. That turned out confusing....three families, two with influenza A/one of those now also has pukey flu, the other family had strep throat and mono. The other part of we in our house and I don't want to catch any of it. So anyway for supper tonight we will be having fish, yams, peas, and fruit. Sounds like every other night at our house for food........

I'm looking for inspiration today and heading off to the store in a moment. I have lots of vegetables, but no proteins and thinking of roasting either a chicken or pork tenderloin. I can't remember the last time I roasted either and am kind of in the mood for a hearty, family dinner tonight.
ETA Wine & herb marinated pork tenderloins were on sale, so that's whats for dinner here. Carrots, potatoes, beets, parsnips & onion will roast with the meat and a spaghetti squash will share the oven.

They are our adult children and grandchildren though so they think they can come any old time and camp out at our house........I have no idea how they came to that conclusion but it's the way it has been since they were children and actually lived with us, they think they own the house........LOL!

Good grief! I want to send well wishes to all who are sick but I'm afraid if I list names, I'll leave someone out. To ALL of you who are under the weather, get better soon.
I'm off all week for my mid-winter break, so I can't fall back on my "too busy and tired" excuse this week. Tonight it will be stuffed portobella mushrooms for DH and a salad for me. I put summer sausage, rice, cream cheese, and seasonings in the suffed mushrooms.
I've spent a good part of the day working in the yard. It feels more like spring break than winter break.

Baked tilapia and steamed broccoli. I'm trying to eat healthier. (I plead the fifth on what I had for lunch. It may or may not have had something to do with Pizza Hut. )

Oh my gosh, there are quite a bit of us who aren't feeling up to par... Group Hope you all start feeling better very soon! My youngest still isn't feeling very good so we're skipping family dinner tonight. I took chicken breast and ground beef out of the freezer last night. Dh wants ground beef soft tacos and *I* want baked sweet and sour chicken, rice and roasted broccoli. I'll update later once I figure out what we are for sure having. I'm leaning towards chicken since I have more time today to be in the kitchen. We shall see

Another night of oh, I dunno... maybe chicken stir-fry over rice and some fruit fafterwards. Just haven't been in the food frame of mind for awhile so it's been a grab as grab can around here! Luckily it's just DH and I and we're not real picky.

scrapmaven, hope the soup agrees with you. Hope all who are under the weather feel better soon. I woke up knowing the meal plan tonight was prosciutto wrapped chicken breast with sage polenta and broccoli. DH left for work and will be gone most of the week. Fast forward to late afternoon. I then told the kids they are to get there own dinner. They could make sandwiches or have leftovers or make something. DS decided on frozen pizza, so I have him making me one too. DD still has not decided.

DSO just rang me to say we're going to MIL's for dinner - YIPPEE!!! No idea what we're having. I wouldn't be surprised if she makes pork spare ribs (one of DSO's favorites) or something similar for his belated birthday dinner - that means he will have had pork 3 out of the last 4 nights!
