Digging around and reorganizing my stash and I found mulberry paper, sheets of that gauzy/swiss cheese like "material" and word printed vellum. Also found a pile of those laser cut 12x12 pages, I guess they are overlays? Man I forgot I even had this stuff and I am trying to decide if it should go or stay. Other than using a bit of mulberry and some of the brown swiss cheesy stuff on a beach themed layout I am at a loss as to where I will use it. Has anyone successfully used these items? Does anyone still own some of this stuff?

Don't know what the "Swiss cheese" stuff is. Have had--and used--the others.
Those acetate or vellum sheets with words--depending on the words--could work nicely in layering a large Matt or a whole page.
Laser cut overlays work great as stencils for ink or paint.
Mulberry pp makes a lovely feathery Matt if you use a wet paint brush to define the edge and then tear it.

I have some mulberry paper, too. Think I'll drag it out and use it!

I remember both and I probably have some stored somewhere but if I came across I'd put it in my giveaway box. I was never a fan of mulberry paper even when it came out but I think I received some in a RAK years ago lol.

loved mulberry paper but don't have any. I liked it for mats the way grammadee suggested. Word-printed vellum - awesome for layering or you can back it with a solid cardstock and use it as a background not sure what the 'swiss cheese' stuff is unless maybe magic mesh? If so - I loved that also for layers and borders

I pulled mine out the other day for the make-your-own-kit challenge. I've already started tearing the edges (didn't wet them first so they're not perfectly straight). I think I used one sheet of it, I don't know how many years ago, but now on my desk I've got a series of 8 layouts in process with it

I have tons of mulberry paper & handmade papers, even giant sheets of it from when we had fantastic rubber stamp stores 20 years ago.
I mostly used it for layers on cards for rubber stamping. I still hold onto it.

I agree with jen...the mulberry paper and swiss cheese paper are great for layers on cards...similarly, I think it would be really pretty as part of an embellishment cluster as one of the layers close to the page. You could wet and tear some and then layer some fussy cut images on top. My mom and I raided her mulberry paper stash and made some lovely cards last summer. I actually wish it was more readily available now. If there are some words on the vellum that are particularly relevant to your layout I think it is a fun look to put a frame around those words. Some of the laser cut pieces look neat if you layer different patterned papers under different parts of the design, or if you cut them and only use part on a page. Good luck and have fun with it!

I deliberately hoarde my mulberry paper. It has a way of being something lacy but not too feminine... grammadee 's comment makes me want to diecut some Feather shapes out of it!

Really want to know what the swiss cheese paper is cause that sounds cool!

I have been going through papers today and found a lot of printed acetate sheets, mulberry paper and die cut papers. I really need to figure how to use some of them.

I love mulberry paper on heritage layouts.
I recently regreted not purchased a pack of 12x12 die cut paper because they were the wrong color. I realized later that they were solid white on the back, I could have just turned them over.

I love mulberry paper. I still have a massive love of tear bear animals. Those cuties will never go out of style for me. I think it is such a lovely paper. They make beautiful Prima like flowers too.
Oooh and word printed vellum. There is another pretty that will never go out of style. Can you imagine how cute that would be on the new layered embellishments everyone is making nowadays? It would be so unique and pretty. You could staple them with Tim's tiny attacher to your embellishments.
I still make laser cut overlays. I never bought any because I had my die cutters. I just make them smaller now.

I remember this! When I first started scrapping, I'd layer mulberry papers with other papers for texture. And ink the edges. Mulberry paper is good to use with dies to cut flowers and leaves from.

... If there are some words on the vellum that are particularly relevant to your layout I think it is a fun look to put a frame around those words. ... You just forced me to remember that I have a stack of card stock photo-realistic frames from My Mind's Eye / This & That from around the turn of the century! I should try throwing some titles or journaling into them. I love getting new ideas for using up old stuff.

I used a ton of mulberry paper back in the day! Early 2000's? Great finds in your stash!

You could punch (or cut) the paper into different sized tags and decorate the tag. It would make a cute embellishment cluster. I have used it for beach layouts and when I first started scrapping I used it as mats. I saw an example in a magazine and love it.

I love mulberry paper! Watercolor water brushes are great for painting a line of water so that you can tear it. I love vellum and generally prefer to print my own saying, pour clear embossing powder over it and heat emboss but I'll use pre-printed too.
Not sure what the other item is!

Funny, I just took the mulberry, acetate and vellums out of my stash and placed them in an organizer on my desktop in February, specifically for easier access for layering. It really helps me to use them more.

It's very hard for me to find a way to use them but I keep chipping away. @elaynef, I was watching a video last night that Sassenach had recommended on the video thread, and I thought about these stupid frames again. In the video, Lina Monaco tucked a frame under her mats so that only the edges on 2 or 3 sides peeked out, and it worked as a layer, not a frame. It's not the first time I've seen that technique, but it had been so long I'd just forgotten about it. Anyway, I'm going to try using them as a layer ... I'll let you know if I'm actually able to do it!

I never saw the tip about wetting the mulberry paper before. I wonder if I still have any? I'll have to look.
@elaynef Great layout. My grandson wears a lot of plaid shirts. He refuses to wear them to school. He is 8. He calls them "church shirts", LOL. I love a good plaid paper. I have so many they have their own envelope...

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing but I have some Swiss cheese-ish paper too. It's kind of like mulberry paper but has a lot of small random spots where the paper is super thin and almost transparent. Swiss cheese is a good description.
I have various colors of mulberry paper from ages ago that I've just started using. I also have some vellum with translucent floral and leaf prints that I got on QVC back when they used to have craft days. I need to figure out how to incorporate these on some pages.
