We met junior year in high school and have been together for almost 20 years. October 12th. He was a quiet stay to himself person and I was the complete opposite . Other than saying hello, we never talked. One day I saw him, I can't explain it, it's not like I hadn't seen him a hundred times, but that day something clicked for me. I asked him out and he said YES. Years later he told me he was just about to ask me out, but I beat him to it. We went pumpkin picking, dinner & to the local bakery. Perfect date & he was so sweet. We completely sickens our friends in high school. We'd sit in the cafeteria and eat chicken soup, he'd read potery to me and we would share headphones listening to music. To this date we are complete opposites & still make our friends sick. Gotta love a romantic. What's your story.

I was in college at Michigan State University and met dh online on an instant messaging program. I asked if anyone liked country music and out of 3000+ people, he was the only one that responded. We chatted for 6 hours. He called me and the rest was history. Thankfully he felt the same way. Within a week, we'd already committed to getting married. 4 months later without my parents knowing, I drove 12 hours to meet him. I met and stayed with him and his parents. Shortly after my return, I told my parents and while they were NOT happy, they really liked him. He would call the house and ask to speak to them. He's a VERY personable guy...and they approved right away. 6 months later, I moved to New England, got a job and we got an apartment. I watched him graduate high school (he was 17 when I met him and I moved out here RIGHT after he turned 18) and a little over a year after that, we married. He was 19 and I was 22. I remember a lot of my extended family thinking I was crazy. And I KNOW there were a few that said we'd never make it. We've been together 17 years, married 15 and have 3 kids. We're stronger now than we've ever been. Meanwhile, several of those naysayers are divorced. Almost everyone that meets us more than once says that we exude happiness. I sure hope so because we are.

Drunk at a karaoke bar. I had gone out with my best friend and she was with a big group of people that included my now husband. I thought he was with a different girl who was also in the group but once I figured out he was single I went for it. With liquid courage.

I love these kind of stories.
My husband and I met through a lady I worked for. She was an outside sales rep, I was her inside person. One day she told me she wanted me to spend the day on the road with her to actually meet the customers I talked to everyday. Little I did know she really wanted me to meet one certain customer lol. Well it worked, a couple days after we actually met he called and asked me out, we have been together ever since 25+ years.

We worked together and went out one night with a group of co-workers. We ended up being the last 2 at the bar and now we're living happily ever after!

We worked at the same place, married to different people. He was one of those computer geeks that I never had much to do with. Years later, I was divorced, he was separated. We were in the same coffee pool so we would periodically chat. More years later, he had transferred to another branch of the company and I was promoted to a position in the same branch. We worked together, became friendlier, began dating, and eventually married.

We were a blind date. A good friend of mine was a waitress at a small fish & chip restaurant that his BIL was a chef at. They decided we should meet.
We went out to dinner for our first date. At the time, the huge search for the "white camero" was on during the Paul Bernardo days in Ontario. My parents were away for the weekend, and my mother said "if he shows up in a white car, DON'T answer the door" - but it was a blue mustang, so I felt safe to open the door.
Halfway through dinner, a good friend and her boyfriend showed up (she knew how nervous I was about the date) - they spent the rest of the night with us, and it really helped break the ice.
It took a few more dates for me to warm up to DH completely, but we were engaged six months later, and married almost two years after our first date.
It has now been 20 years and three kids later!

We lived across the hall from each other in our first year of university in on-campus residence. My mom was horrified there were boys *right* across the hall. We met at the start of the school year in September, we were both in first year science and had a couple of classes together. I fell in love with him during an 8 am organic chemistry lecture in the beginning of December. By March we were dating. That was 15 years ago now!

I was at a house party. I was already married, but it was on the rocks and xdh wasn't there. He asked around and was told I was married, but was not deterred. He actively pursued me by questioning people about what parties I would be at, so he could be there too and showing up at my house when I was having a party. He was hot, I was done with the ex and left the ex for him. We've been married 29 years now.

When I first moved to Albuquerque in 1991, I began working at Walmart Pharmacy. There was an intern there named Cyndi. She and I became instant friends. The kind of friends where you feel like you've known each other forever, even though you've only known each other for a day. We've been best friends ever since. Her youngest brother moved to ABQ in 1993 and we began to hang out together. At that time, the relationship only served a certain need, if you know what I mean. LOL We each went our own way in 1994, on neutral terms. He moved back to the midwest, and I carried on with my life in NM/West TX. I always felt so incredibly comfortable around him though, like I didn't have to look a certain way or act a certain way to be accepted by him. I just figured it wasn't meant to be. He subsequently got married, and I was crushed. He then got divorced, and I rejoiced, along with the rest of his family.
Meantime, my BFF moved to WA and in 2007 decided to move back to NM. Her youngest brother helped her family move back. He needed a place to stay before his flight back to NE, so she asked if he could stay the night at my house. I agreed. We kept in touch with each other via text. He came back for a visit in January, 2008, and it wasn't spectacular. When he left, I told my other friend that I was relieved to have gotten him out of my system. LOL
But the man kept texting me! And then we started talking on the phone. We would talk for hours at a time, every single day. It was wonderful. When my dog died in April of that year, the only person I wanted to talk to was him. It was that day that I knew I was in love with him. He came for a visit in July of that year, and it was absolutely wonderful. The stuff dreams are made of. 6 weeks later, he left his home in NE and moved to NM to be with me. We were married 14 months later, and I love him more today than yesterday, and I'll love him even more tomorrow.
So basically, I married my best friend's brother. <3

My DH and I were set up on a blind date. He went to Catholic school through 8th grade, then to the public high school. I went to public school through 8th grade, then to the Catholic high school. It ended up we had a lot of friends in common. Two of our mutual friends thought we'd be good together and they took us both out to dinner. It was a really crazy evening, nothing went as planned. But by the end of the night, we exchanged phone numbers and started texting. That was over three years ago and we just got married in June.

Blind date!
We had a mutual business acquaintance who kinda introduced us through business originally. Then we started talking on the phone...he made me laugh, kept my interest and I agreed to meet him for dinner.
21 years later (18 of which are married years) we are still together!

I haven't posted a photo on this new site yet (I don't think) so I will try to post this photo to show where we first met. I am the girl on the front row, far right and DH is front row in the center. This is 3rd grade. I have to add though.................we don't remember each other from 3rd grade although we obviously knew each other. We also grew up in the same church and took our first communion together at the Episcopal church we attended. I actually remember him from 7th grade on. Third grade is the only year we were in the same elementary school.

I had been living with my boyfriend at the time and we would occasionally hang out with a friend of his who we'll call John. In fact, my boyfriend didn't introduce me to this friend until after a year or so of our relationship. I always thought it was weird that he wouldn't introduce me to John but once I met him, i knew why. His friend was HOT and we had pretty much everything in common - we like all the same music, we race mountain bikes, we work in the same industry, etc. Anyway, about 6 or so months later, while I was in London, I got a call that my dear grandmother was in hospice and I needed to fly home right away. I called my boyfriend, and I was all "whatever you need, I'm here for you, I love you, blah blah blah." He picked me up from the airport, and he said he needed to go somewhere and could he just drop me off at the house to get my car. I thought it was weird, but I agreed. Well, when I walked in the house, I realized that this lying liar who lies had moved out of my house and in with his ex-girlfriend! I guess he was at least embarrassed of his actions because he pretty much quit talking to most of his friends who also knew me. His friend John called just to chat, I told him what happened, so we started hanging out together because we essentially both lost a really close "friend." We stayed just friends for almost a year or so before he finally made the move. We've been together for over 5 years now and super happy. And I would say that i am HIS better half

We met at a christening. He was Godfather to my (former) bff's son. He got my number from her that day, then called me the next day and we spent 6 hours on the phone. We went on our first date, got engaged two months later and married a year after that. We've been together 8 years.
Oh, and she is my former bff because she thought my now DH was a good match for her.

7th grade history class. He remembers me, but I don't remember him. Evidently I called him a scab once. I later dated his best friend and got to know DH. Best friend and I broke up, but DH and I stayed friends. Later, I asked him to prom as "friends" and a week later DH said he wanted to date me. The rest is history--29 years later, we have been married for 24 years, have two kids and have lived all over the world.

We met while on a business trip in New Orleans. He was friends with some people I worked with and tagged along for a fun vacation. My group met his group for dinner the night before the event started and we were instant friends. We were both dating other people so we added each other on facebook and kept in touch for a few years. I ended my relationship and about a year later he ended his so I stopped talking to him (i'm not a rebound girl, ever) After probably 5-6 months of ignoring him we were both up super late and he initiated a conversation. We ended up talking for a few hours and realized that we had a lot in common. That turned into chatting on facebook, texting, skyping and whatnot for a few months until fall rolled around and I called him one day and said "Look, this is out of character for me but we need to go on a real date, I know it's a 9 hour drive but you can come here, I can go there or we can meet in the middle for dinner but before I let myself like you I need to make sure you don't smell bad, chew funny or just plain irritate me. Let's figure this out. " Two weeks later he drove to Ohio from Va and we went on a first date to a festival near me (one of my favorite events of the whole year) He spent the weekend in town and I was in love. I knew he was the one immediately and he confirmed it by waiting two days to even try to kiss me because he never wanted me to look back and think that he drove out for some action. We drove back and forth every other weekend for a while and he proposed in December, January and then finally in March we were engaged for real. Wedding in July and he moved here right after....thank goodness! We put a LOT of miles on our vehicles! ha

20 years ago we met while I was a wedding photographer (had my own business) and he worked behind the rental counter at a pro camera shop in Washington DC where I go to rent my back up equipment before every wedding. We flirted every time I'd come in and eventually I asked him out for a day of sailing with my sister and brother in law along. He seemed very shy and I figured if I didn't make the first move he never would. I was right. He is shy. But then, so am I so I have no idea what gave me the guts to make that move. It was just something about him that called out to me.
We went sailing together that day, and then started dating. I was divorced one year out from an abusive ex and had been through therapy so I know what to look for. DH is the complete opposite. Kind, caring, giving, quiet, reserved, sweet, compassionate-I could go on and on. But more than that he got me. We finish each others sentences. We both love photography, travel and books. I was NOT looking for a partner, but he was perfect. I guess you can't time these things.
DH ended up going into the IT business, which was a great move for him since that camera shop no longer exists. In July we celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary. We've been through several ups and downs with my health issues, but now I'm hoping to restart my photography business while he continues on in IT, and we're stronger than ever.

I got a brand new laptop computer in 1994. I decided to take a scuba diving certification course and used my brand new laptop to connect with other scuba divers on that newfangled thing (to me anyway) called CompuServe. (And if you read the story thread and are scratching your head thinking isn't she the one who can't swim? Yeah, got certified without being comfortable in the water OR knowing how to swim. Don't bring it up around DH! He hates the organization I certified with.) Met my DH and we talked a lot on the computer. I was an Occupational Therapist at the time and took a job as a traveling therapist. My second assignment brought me to NJ and I contacted DH for a diving excursion. It was probably a very dumb thing to do, but I went out with him to a dive site in PA without really knowing for sure WHO he was. I mean really, he could have been a serial killer! I left all of his contact info with my BFF and if she hadn't heard from me by a certain time, she was going to call the police. Of course, if he had been a serial killer it wouldn't have done me any good but at least they would have known who to look for!
We have been together for almost 19 years (9/24 will be 19 years) and married for 15. It seems like the time has just flown by! We must be having fun.

We worked together and started dating in April. It got real serious when my dad received new military orders in July of same year. I couldn't afford to live on my own and go to college. I told him that I wouldn't move in with him. If he wanted to be together we say 'i do' or we say 'good bye'. We were engaged in August and married in November. My parents moved a week after the wedding. It has been an awesome (almost) 28 years. Everybody was waiting for an announcement that I was pregnant. They waited a long time…that didn't happen until 5 years later.

Well, I walked into an Apple store one day, and there she was in all her shiny white glory - Duel core A6X chip with quad-core graphics, retina display, 64GB of storage - what wasn't there to love . Oh wait, you mean my husband . We met in the Utah National Guard, on a bus, in a parking lot, both wearing fatigues and combat boots. Again, what wasn't there to love . We'll celebrate our 20 year anniversary in November.
