I'd get a second opinion. It can't hurt. Your kids many need particularly extensive care - but those numbers are high. we will be getting a second opinion maybe even a third. Crap. That is a ton of money. We paid 5K up front for total care. Ha. The kid was in braces for six years. We didn't have to pay anything beyond the up front money. The orthodontist lost on that kid. He does have an amazing smile. His canines were twisted and kept turning and he looked like he could bite you. |

When I was growing up, our "vacations" were in a pop up camper in various relatives' driveways. I knew that I wanted my kids to experience different people and places. I wanted to experience them too. Our first couple years of marriage were no fun vacation wise, but once we got our feet under us, money was always put aside for fun vacations that weren't spent in a camper or in someone else's house. Thankfully we have continued to make it a priority and that no big emergencies have hit us.

We normally do 3 trips a year to the same place, and we drive, so we are normally in the $5k to $9k range. This year those trips are cut to two and the third is our cruise to Alaska for our honeymoon. That threw us way over our normal travel budget but will be just a one time thing. Next year we'll be back to normal.
