My dog looks just like him!!! Mine has a little less white on his chest and one white paw but seriously they could be litter mates. He's so lucky he found you! I hope yours is as sweet as mine. Who would abandon that sweet face? ETA: I just read your original post with the "before" pictures of Jaxson. Mine is supposed to be a Shih Tzu, too, but I've often wondered if he is a Shih Poo instead. And Jaxson sounds every bit as sweet as mine. He will steal your heart if he hasn't already.

Too cute. Love the post. We had a similar thing happen to our dog, Sylvester. Took him in to get all cleaned up and trimmed, when we got there, this little rat was running around us. Did not realize that was him! He was 2 sizes smaller and looked like a totally different dog. We laughed, and I think that pissed him off. He did not socialize with us the rest of the day. LOL! Once we knew who he was, he really did look cute.

Lexica, that cute pup in your avatar? Had you ever been to that groomer before? I've heard some horror stories about some salons. I've heard some bad things about PetSmart. I took my pups there once and they did a ok job, but they were expensive. It's so hard to find a good reputable groomer/salon. I'm fortunate that I have a neighbor that grooms dogs out of her house. She also boards dogs in her home. My pups think it's their second home when they go there. She is wonderful with animals. Today Jaxson was groomed at my vet. My regular gal was on vacation and Jaxson was so badly matted, I couldn't wait. I was a little nervous but she did a wonderful job, spent almost 3 hours on him. She said he was just a love bug. I don't blame you for never going back. There is no way your pup should have reacted that way since he was used to being bathed and used to dryer. Have you found someone else? If not, maybe you could ask your vet for a referral or if you have friends that have dogs, ask them where they go. Good luck! We only want the best for our furkids, right?! This groomer came highly recommended by my little speciality pet store. I highly value and trust her opinion. She did mention she heard some bad things about PetSmart groomers. Although, I don't know how they could get away with some of the stories I've heard since they do the grooming right there in front of big windows. Hard to hide abusing a dog with customers walking by all day, not to mention coworkers and store managers. I think they are just an easy target sometimes. No, this woman owns a salon located in an industrial park and it took a week to get an opening. She is quite busy. Mine was a cancellation a week out. And it was the actual owner of salon that cut him, not one of her employees. And the refusal to let me be there was from her own mouth, which was my actual deciding factor not to return. My intention was not to sit there for 4 hours with my face inches away from what she was doing. I just wanted to spend maybe the first half hour in there to verbally reassure him that he was okay. I would have remained on the customer side at all times, of course! But since she ruled that out, I wasn't comfortable going back. I've had dogs all my life and I made a specific attempt to expose this little one to everything I could from the day I got him. I handled his feet, rolled him on his back as I brushed his tummy fur each day, exposed him to cats and dogs, and plenty of people out on our walks. There is nothing I can't do to this dog. He is the sweetest thing. Her ridicule of him honestly hurt my momma bear feelings. He even allows me to brush his teeth daily with my electric toothbrush on low. And allow isn't the right word. He comes and sits at my feet wagging his tail as I brush mine, waiting for me to get his stuff ready to brush his. I can put my hand into his mouth to remove anything he has that I don't want him having and he will drop it on command, but sometimes I need to do a final check to make sure there are no more bits in his mouth. He's basically just the best dog. He is a bit shy with some new people, mostly men. He is fine with my son, who is 6' 1" quite muscular, and is sprouting a new full bushy beard. My son has a deep voice and just swoops the dog up and snuggles him. I could see that being a bit imposing to a little pup, but he's quite excited when he hears my son at the door. He's still iffy about my male boarder though. Anyway, what I've ended up doing was ordering the equipment on line and grooming him myself. I watched many youtube videos about grooming and just dove in. Let me say, that first cut....oh my. I have so much respect for dog groomers! We get better at it with every session, and he isn't so bad that I don't take him out in public after a grooming now. I've had my share of mistakes and I recently saw a video that I'm going to send for that says it shows everything from grooming, teeth care, inside of the ear care, and nail clipping to taking care of that gland near their bum. I think he and Jaxson would be great pals if we lived near the same dog park! He is the most playful little guy. And not at all agressive with other dogs.

I wished I knew that before! She makes me get in the big sink in that room where clothes get tortured in big mashine. It's hoomilitating! So, I be back in a bit with cleaner bum. Grr err rrr

Lexica I often thought about grooming my dogs myself. But I butcher just trying to trim around their eyes and beard, that I think I'll leave it to the professionals!! You gave me a good tip about brushing though. My two older dogs will not let me clean or brush their teeth, I think because I waited too long and they weren't used to it. But with Jaxson, since he's so much younger and so docile, I should start on a regime of teeth cleaning to get him used to it. He has beautiful clean healthy teeth, I'd like to keep them that way!

that's out right scary! Is she the owner? If not, I'd be asking them why a momma cant stay during grooming. your poor baby was probably terrified of that person. The concern should have been for finding out what the problem was, then she could work on her relationship with the pup. Sounds like she knows what the problem is - HER.
ETA- just read that this was the owner! yikes. your baby isn't safe there anyway!
