I am not. I have to plan everything out, make list after list, and flip flop several times. Whenever we go on a trip, I prepare a "trip book".
I really wish I could be spontaneous, but it's just not me.

I am a consummate list maker and planner, but I'm convinced that enables me to be spontaneous. Because of the exhaustive lists and comprehensive planning, I "know" what's what at any given moment. So when an opportunity to be spontaneous comes along, I can seize it because I know I have everything covered.
It's counter-intuitive to many people, but being a planner and a list-maker is freeing... not restrictive.

I am complicated...
I love to be spontaneous but I hate surprises. I have to be in control of what is spontaneous. I don't do well if someone wants to do something out of the blue but I have plans already or it disrupts a plan I have. But that being said, it is fun sometimes to just be free, go somewhere unexpected or experience something new without overthinking it!
When I was younger, I was spontaneous all the time. I never had set plans other than when I had to work and even at that, I probably didn't take as serious as I should have. I would travel when I could, go out when I could, moved at a drop of a hat etc. Being a homeowner, married and having children has put me on a routine and I like to plan things now. I live by my calendar book, well partially because if I don't write it down, I probably won't remember.
It is also hard to be spontaneous when you have kids and a spouse. Trying to make sure everyone's needs are met and people are happy makes it difficult.

In my day to day life I'd say I'm spontaneous. Obviously there are work, school, sports commitments, but I don't get thrown when my plans for the day get changed. We often decide to head out of town for a day/weekend without a lot of pre-planning. We have kids and they've been raised to be go with the flow people too.

I can be spontaneous. Call me and ask me to meet for dinner - sure! You have an extra concert ticket - I'm in. But, if I KNOW we are going to the lake this weekend, we better have a plan. I have a lot of responsibilities and I can't function without my lists and a plan. That doesn't mean I'm not willing to change the plan. Well, except when my mom calls an hour before and has invited half my family to join us for lunch, but oh wait - Joanie won't eat Mexican, so we have to change the restaurant, and Rebecca can't go until 2, so we are meeting an hour later...OOPS - this isn't a vent thread

I am a go with the flow kind of person. I don't consider myself spontaneous nor do I consider myself a planner. Oh my, what am I??

I used to be very spontaneous. I loved just hopping in the car and going wherever the spirit moved me. Not anymore. It's not that I don't like being spontaneous anymore, it's just so hard with kids and work and life. I have an 8 year old autistic son who needs to know everything we are doing and why. It kind of takes any surprises out of the picture.
