Wow! You all have done such amazing freaking things! I'm a bit envious!
I've tracked tornadoes found large boned mammal fossils did high school internships in palaeontology and anthropology departments of museums Gave up a prodigy position in archeology at a university twice As a teen, lived 'on the street' for 3 months just to understand what it was like

Wowsers! Peas are soooo interesting! I'll add my out of the ordinary: Have eaten rattlesnake and porcupine. Have a scar on my right forearm from a raccon bite! Was working in a 40' x 300' chickenhouse with dh after a snow and ice storm and it completely collapsed from the accumulation. Dh was hurt but was OK, I wasn't hurt, nor were the 2 hired workers also inside with us. Scary! I've also been all the way to the crown in the Statue of Liberty, and have had cocktails at Windows on The World in the World Trade Center. (Born and raised in NY.)

You have all had such interesting experiences. Now I wish you would all explain how you choose to do those things, how you liked it at the time, and if you would do it again.

I've been featured in an article in US News & World Report.
While visiting the White House as a kid, Secret Service let me in to see President Carter. Johnny Cash was in the room with him. (Of course at the time I thought it was no big deal!)
I found my Mom's birth family for her when she was 60 years old.

I moved to Germany by myself a few months after my 20th birthday. While there I got to take a hammer to the Berlin Wall as it was coming down (I also stood on the top of it).
I have been married 3 times.

Helped save Carol Kane's dog from being run over - she was so gracious. Helped save the life of a man who was having a heart attack

Walked across the Golden Gate bridge. Traveled Europe and got to see: The Sistine Chapel, The David, climbed The Leaning Tower of Pisa, Notre Dame, went to the top of the Eiffel Tower. I've been white water rafting in Costa Rica, camped in Yellowstone National Park, been up The Arch in St. Louis. Snorkeled in the Bahamas. I've ridden in a helicopter. I've ridden on/operated a Segway. One of my goals in life is to life an AMAZING life. Now that I look over this list, I guess I'm well on my way.

I know that there are others here who have done these, but none of my IRL friends or family have: flown a plane bungee jumped a couple of times owned a motorbike been in a helicopter ridden a horse bareback along the beach on Magnetic Island parasailed handled snakes, bats and spiders scuba dived on the Great Barrier Reef and in Bali
Gee I had an exciting life before kids and mortgage!!!
I have also been to Saudi Arabia when my dad worked there. Even my jet setting friend who travelled the world for 3 years didn't go there, because you can't get in unless you are sponsored.

When it was time, I took stitches out of my husband, my children, and even the dog all in the same year.
It was a very strange year!

Its interesting to see what people find "remarkable" about themselves. ashley I could be wrong but aren't you the pea who defended your dissertation shortly after the birth of a third or fourth child? I went on a blind date with a blind man who didn't call me back for a second date. So I joke that "I can't even get a blind man to like me". In defense of my self worth a couple weeks later he won two gold medals in the 2012 Paralympics so his stock went up tremendously.

I've sung on the stage of the Sydney Opera House.
Not by myself though! And I must say, the view from the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge is spectacular. But I'm looking forward to trying many of the things listed above :-) thanks for the inspiration.

I've gone zip lining in Honduras. I lived on Okinawa for 3 years. Went through a Category 5 typhoon while there. Went to South Korea and also saw the DMZ. Spent a day on Guam.
The Air Force emptied a cargo plane to load me, DH, DS, a couple nurses and the flight crew to med'avac us from Okinawa to San Diego when DS was 18 hours old. He had a heart defect that wasn't detected before his birth.

I've wore braces on my teeth at age 15 and again at age 50. I had a wallaby kiss my nose. I didn't kiss the Blarney Stone, I kissed the gentleman who helped instead.

Almost a year ago, I went to my cousins wedding, the reception was at the New England Aquarium. The entire aquarium was shut down on a Saturday afternoon so we had it all to ourselves. We were allowed to stroll around (bar drinks in hand) without any of the public being there, just the wedding guests.
It was Amaaazing!!!

hitch-hiked through Ca for 2 weeks when I was 16 and my sister was 15 (parents thought we were on a trip with the "teen club", we faked permission slips using the school mimiograph machine)
worked in a gun shop in Miami - we used to fly to the Bahamas and pick up "International travelers", I now see they were probably wealthy illegal aliens from So.America!
Went by myself for a 2 week vacation in Hawaii and didn't come home for 3 years.
Lived in a commune (Taylor Camp) at the north end of the road on Kauai. There's now an award-winning documentary on it.
Had my first child at 35 and second at 38 and am sending them both away to different cities this month. I'll be an empty-nester as of this weekend! I know that's not unusual but it is HUGE to me.

I don't think "remarkable" is the word that I would use to describe my list...instead I would say not common or out of the ordinary is more accurate.
