S/O but how about alone? It is cool to hear about everyone's adventures, but lets step it up. On your own meaning without family, friends, classmates, tour group, S/O or D/H. I mean really alone, self initiated on your own. Mine; Traveled to almost every state in the United States either by air or vehicle just because I wanted to. Ridden my motorcycle all over the eastern United States a few times. Fished for Tarpon off bridges in the Florida Keys - old bridges in the 70's when they had catwalks Traveled to many skate parks all over the United States just so I had the satisfaction of skateboarding in interesting places.

My two big trips in my early 20's were alone.
The 2 week vacation that I mentioned on the other thread to Hawaii that turned into 3 years, was by myself.
And a cross-country trip with a "friend" where she ditched me in Florida and I stayed and lived there for a year was alone. I didn't go running home to Ca, I stayed by myself in Miami and got a job and apartment without knowing anyone. (I intended to find someone to finish out my trip with, up the east coast and across Canada) but just ended up staying in Miami. I lived in my VW van until I got a job and apartment, then worked on SW 8th St (Little Havana) before it cleaned up and became a tourist spot. This was in the late 70's - Miami's big disco club days.

I do lots of things alone, (see movies, eat out, shop) but probably things plenty of people do. It's the one thing I regret about being married really young. We had no money, and when we started making money we bought a house, saved for retirement and college for kids, and do family vacations now. But I have no intentions of not doing things when my kids are grown. I have big plans and cannot wait!

About 4 years ago I went on my first international flight and stayed in Italy for 3 weeks with a stranger, it was awesome ! My family thought I was crazy, but the 82 yr old woman I lived with while in Italy was actually my boss's Aunt, so I figured it was safe, haha. It was the best experience to live with a local in her villa and she expected me to help around the house and do chores, treated me just like family. It was actually 4 yrs ago this week that I returned from my trip, how funny.

I went back to England for 3 weeks on my own when I was 16 (I turned 17 just before coming back to the States) - I stayed with various relatives I really didn't know (my uncle and aunt and my older sister) but mostly just slept in their spare rooms and travelled around by myself every day by bus and train.
I moved from Massachusetts to Arizona on my own at 23 with a toddler -no job, no apartment lined up, not much money (enough to put down first and last rent but not much more) and not knowing anyone in AZ - I look back and wonder WTF was I thinking but we survived.
