@peasapie abdominal migraines are often seen in children who go on to have migraine with headache as adults. They are often not recognized or diagnosed. Kids will have recurrent episodes of abdominal pain, sometimes with nausea, sometimes with vomiting. They tend to feel generally unwell during these periods and want to rest or sleep. They are rare in adults, but they do happen.

You get scar tissue, adhesions, infections, rejections + they should be replaced within 10-15 years. This implant lasted for 40 years!!!!!!!! Why didn't they replace it after 15 years? The same doctor who put it in, maybe she still would have been around then? Before it deteriorated? I have TONS of scar tissue and immense pain just from that, but we discovered 4 years ago that he beads are slowly falling due to gravity, and landing on the ocular floor (some are on my sinus nerves). That pain won't go away until they're taken out & I can't find a surgeon willing or capable to do the surgery. On top of that, I still have the bb lodged in my socket, deeply, which alone gives me immense daily pain. My doctors have been so careful no to give me strong meds, but it seems like I'm headed that way. Right now, even WITH the Fioricet and Maxalt, I"m still bedridden some days. They can't figure it out. I can't either! Not really a big mystery, you've got 2 foreign objects in your body, one that is falling apart. Your body is angry. It's not the meds; it's my case. Until I get the entire implant out (and I don't even know when/if that will happen!!), I'll be in excruciating pain. I don't care at this point if I have an empty socket once it's all taken out, but I can't even get to that point. Yes an empty socket would be acceptable at this point to be rid of the pain. Why won't anyone do the surgery? Just because it's so unique and no one has done it?I hope this makes sense. I know it's graphic, but it's so much more than typical migraines. I'm always trying to do what's healthiest. Our next step will be the medical marijuana oil, down the road if the botox doesn't work. There are some good results with marijuana, worth a try. ~~~ Oh my goodness bergdorf that is unbelievable. So much more than just a migraine. My SIL was 14 and was smashed in the face with this homemade teeter-toter playground thing. She has metal plates and screws in her face and will get face pain. She has found relief with acupuncture when it starts hurting. I just hope she can keep it at bay and it not get chronic at some point. Good points, milocat!! They didn't replace the implant b/c it didn't show signs of scar tissue, movement, etc... I was checked yearly. The implant surgery took 12 hours. During my last surgery to remove only **5** beads, it took a few hours. Each one was encased in tons of scar tissue at this point. I guess they stumbled on a good thing and wanted to see how long I'd last with it. I was the 1st one in the world with it and my surgeon kept on top of me. Unfortunately he passed away and no one really wants to touch me after that!! I have NO clue how long it would take to remove the other 95 beads, or if it'd have to be done over several surgeries. It's a mess!!! YES, you're right--that's why my body is so angry! The bb alone causes immense pain, and then I have the silicone and the scar tissue. It sucks! I wish I could find someone to work on me. I've checked everywhere, even the Mayo Clinic. I'm awaiting word on another surgeon in September. Thanks.

milocat: Regarding this: " Oh my goodness bergdorf that is unbelievable. So much more than just a migraine. My SIL was 14 and was smashed in the face with this homemade teeter-toter playground thing. She has metal plates and screws in her face and will get face pain. She has found relief with acupuncture when it starts hurting. I just hope she can keep it at bay and it not get chronic at some point." I'm sory about your SIL. At least she didn't try to reject the screws!! She probably also gets pain due to scar tissue forming around the screws! I'm usually checked every few years with a CT scan (can't have an MRI, after all!!), and it'll show scar tissue. She should also be aware of infection which is common with a foreign body in you.
As for the acupuncture, I can't even get a facial. That side of my face is so surgically enhanced that it would be a danger to even touch it. ALL the way down my cheek is all full of the silicone beads (the implant goes that far down!), so I have to be really careful. I DO know that when I get my hair cut/washed, I'm in heaven and feel no pain. If I could get that done daily, I'd have some relief! Of course I'm not covered for it...........
Thank you for your words. It's complicated!! I don't mean to sound like a drama queen or sound like my case is the WORST around. I'm extremely grateful that I'm alive and it's not life-threatening. I help people in similar situations, but I'm reminded that my case sucks! My goal is to move back to NY and find great surgeons again. I never should have left (now I remember why!!) + this humidity really, really kills me. DH has seen me in pain more than anyone I've known, and we're only together for 9 years now! Crappy..........
I'm pretty strong, and I just want to keep my pain at a tolerable level so that I could live a relatively normal life. Lately it has gotten out of hand and I do feel a bit worried about it. I'm sure I'll feel better once I have a surgeon who has a plan! Thank so much for your words, and for everyone's input on here. It helps.
Today I feel MUCH better. Maybe the botox is kicking in, or the pain from the immediate after-effects wore off? I'll take it! It's not to humid here today, but it's in the 90's. I'm gonna sit poolside for a break and see how I do. Hope you all have a good day that's pretty much pain-free!! It sucks to hear about other people in bad pain.

Hi @bergdorfblonde I wanted to check in and see how you are doing now that it's been a few months since your botox? I saw a new neurologist and they are FINALLY going to try botox for my migraines and daily headaches. They are just getting so much worse, I'm to the point of wanting to jump off a building two to four days a week. My family does not understand and have even started questioning if I'm faking. They can't believe someone would have this many migraines plus daily headaches. I know my situation is completely different from yours as I have no cause, but I'm still following how you are doing. Just call me a stalker So, I'd love an update! Sorry if I've missed one already. I truly hope you are doing better. I'd love details about botox from anyone reading also. Is it painful to get? Have you had side effects? Were you in worse pain for a week or two after (that I've read can happen)?

It's pretty uncomfortable, but once the injecting is done the pain is gone. It didn't help my jaw problem which is too bad. There were no side effects. I have heard other people have success with Botox for headaches so I would give it a try.

Have you had side effects? Were you in worse pain for a week or two after (that I've read can happen)? River: I had 200 units of the botox. I have a fear of needles and this didn't even feel like a pinch, so, no worries there at all! Plus, my pain dr did it within about 2 minutes. As far as my pain, the first 2 days after the treatment were bad. I had a migraine, and wasn't sure if this was the new norm from the treatment. After that, I didn't have a migraine since!!! I haven't used my Maxalt (migraine rescue Rx), which is AMAZING!! I did have a sinus infection in my (bad) eye socket, so that caused pain, but it wasn't the normal in-bed-migraine pain. I found out that I'm supposed to have a copay for the botox (I didn't know beforehand!) of $190. I'm trying to fight it and get it covered under my Medicare part D vs. part B. Medicare says that they put all injectibles under part B, which I KNOW is not true! DH has gotten many injectibles given to him by his doctor (testorone...) and it was covered 100%!! I should hear back this week. If they turn it down, I won't be getting it again, unfortunately! I told them that this would SAVE them $$ because the botox is cheaper than my migraine meds (which I got pushed through--getting the real Maxalt vs. the generic). It's always something! Good luck and let us know how you make out. My pain dr said that it usually takes 2 rounds to see a difference but I saw it immediately!

PrettyInPeank: Of course we'd want to hear about your results! Please let us all know. One of us usually updates this thread or creates a new one. Good luck with your botox. A good side effect is that your forehead will look like it's 20 years old!

The forehead is a bonus, and now I watch for actresses to see if they have it! LOL. DH likes that I look even younger. If it makes him happy, I'm happy. He's going through BCG bladder cancer treatments, so it's nice to see him smile!

I had to reschedule last week's appointment, and had my appointment today. I was a little nervous to be honest, especially when he came out to the waiting room to confirm I wanted to go through with it before he mixed it.
It's a stick and pinch, but no burning really. Some spots I barely felt, while some hurt until the needle was removed. For me, face was worse than neck, but the right side where I feel headache pain was worse than left.
It's been a couple hours, and I have a mild headache on the right side. One thing I wasn't expecting was the weird and gross crunch sound in my hairline. Ick. Reminds me of lidocaine injections at the dentist.
I'll report back in a few days, fingers crossed for relief!

Reminds me of lidocaine injections at the dentist. I'll report back in a few days, fingers crossed for relief! Prayers that you'll get relief!! The needles weren't bad AT ALL for me. They were so quick that it was fine. The ones on top of my head were felt more, and it's really strange, but I felt pain at the injection spots on the top of my head weeks later, randomly. It's okay, since it's not a migraine, but I wondered what I did to my scalp for a while! LOL. All in all it was very well worth it to me. A few Peas said that they got worse headpain a day or two after the injections. After that, you might feel more relief than normal. They say that it usually takes 2 sessions to feel it, but I saw a huge change the first time! I hope that the same happens to you. Still, I refilled my Maxalt as a backup plan! BTW, I never got lidocaine or any injections other than this.. I never had a dental procedure other than braces. Sounds painful. You'll see that it should be worth it! After 33 surgeries that I had, I don't think that too much could shock me as far as pain goes. On a crappy note: I was advised that I am NOT covered for the 2 vials of botox via my Medicare Part D; only Part B, which means I have to pay $190 each time. That's unreal! I don't see why it's so expensive, especially when it'll help me come off of more serious meds, but they don't care. I might not be able to get it done ever again unless I find a way to get the vials covered.

Thanks for the update. I'm still waiting on insurance approval and it's been almost 2 weeks. I've had 3 migraines and daily horrible headaches in those two weeks.
