Somewhere on my reading lists this am I saw a good remark (think it was one of the papers sampling Twitter): The Brits told US critics and Trump not to confuse their grief with lack of resolve. They are not "reeling". Spot on!

Ha! The KitKat one made me laugh out loud. People do that?! The thousands of us walking across London Bridge this morning were certainly not reeling. In fact like typical Londoners many were taking the opportunity to rebel a little by walking in the road while it is partly closed to traffic. The most alarm I saw was when a seagull bombarded someone with a partly eaten sandwich!

You know by "classy," they mean "beautiful, young-looking, white, Republican," right? Jackie couldn't be classy because she was part of a Democratic administration, and Michelle Obama couldn't be classy because she was black AND part of a Democratic administration. I guess my definition of class is much different than theirs, because I'm pretty sure Michelle Obama has more class in her little finger than Melania has in her entire body. But what do I know, I didn't vote for the moron in the white house. SaveSavePresident Kennedy used to joke that he knew people weren't coming out to see him, they wanted to see Jackie. lol

I have never before been ashamed to call myself an American. Until now. I'm simply and utterly disgusted. At the people who voted for this individual. At the Politicians who supposedly love America more than a political party but have turned a blind eye. At the people who continue to support him. HE has no basic human decency. No knowledge of the world. No decorum. No respect for people who don't look like him. The thought that he's in the White House, where men like Lincoln have lived is laughable. Truly I am saddened by all of this. I don't even want to leave Miami because I fear what can happen to me if I travel somewhere. My sister is going to Arizona in week and I'm silently panicking. It's sad. I would have never thought I'd feel unsafe. In America. But I do. And truthfully, I have reconsidered my friendship with many people who voted for this guy. I just cannot. Me too. I have not severed ties with people who voted for him, but I see them less and talk to them less. It has changed how I feel about them. That has never happened before. I feel that he is an unmitigated disaster who is doing great harm to our country, and I cannot forgive them for it.

Mayor Sadiq Khan's actual quote was: I'm trying to work out whether Trump deliberately ignored the full context of the quote, or whether he really and truly has reading comprehension problems. I'm sure he assumes that everyone will just take his words as being correct without checking the context. Sadly, it appears that 36% of the American public will do just that.

Too many of my American friends are already quaking in their boots and ready to hand over the country to anyone who will "get the terrorists". We all get them TOGETHER. That's how it works. The Brits GET that! You are my heroes. 500-600 dead civilians during "the troubles". The devastation of the blitz. Sometimes, the essence of heroic is going about your business in the face of terror.

Yeah, 'cause it takes a shit-ton of class to take your clothes off and pose naked (or nekkid). Now that's CLASS(less). SMDH. SaveSaveYou know by "classy," they mean "beautiful, young-looking, white, Republican," right? Sometimes, the essence of heroic is going about your business in the face of terror. My whole family had an international vacation planned, with an outgoing flight scheduled for September 21, 2001. Of course we all had apprehension (and an airport pretty much all to ourselves). But as I said then, and still believe, the best thing to do is to show these evil people that they cannot destroy our lives by these actions. Success to them means not just people's deaths, but the deaths of our communal spirits. The best reaction we can have is to continue to live our lives as best we can.

Yes, fewer and fewer people each day support him. But the number is still shockingly high considering his words and actions, and they seem to have dug in. What I've seen of his cult of personality is scary. It does not matter what he does, there are people who will defend his words and actions no matter how ridiculous they may be. So one of my son's friends on FB a couple of days ago was complaining that Roger Waters has a big "Trump is a pig" sign at his concert. He didn't like it, because he's a Trump supporter and he called it slander. I explained that Roger Waters/Pink Floyd have long used pigs as a symbol, and even if he didn't agree with the sentiment, it was not slander. A, it's not spoken but written and B, it's an opinion and libel laws don't have the same protection for public figures anyway. First the rebuttal was "it's childish to call him a pig." No, it's a recurring motif in the RW/PF music over the past several decades. Obviously you're not a long-time fan of the band if you're unaware of this. Then, the rebuttal moved to "why are you focusing on it being libel vs. slander? Can't you admit I'm right?" Right about what? You weren't right. You claimed it was slander but really meant libel. But it wasn't that either. Words have meanings, use them correctly. Then, he was upset about the covfefe thing. He thought it was childish that people were making fun of it. I asked - why not just admit it was a typo? Everyone makes them, it's not a big deal. His argument was that Trump is a very religious man, and the word cofefe was actually an ancient Biblical term and that's why Trump used it. At that point I told him that if he truly wanted to throw away his integrity defending a man he doesn't even know by making up a ridiculous excuse rather than just admitting that it was a typo, he could have at it because it wasn't my issue, but his. If you have people willing to go to that length to defend a TYPO rather than just admitting that it's entirely possible that a 70-year old man might mistype a word - and coming up with an utterly ridiculous argument that posits Trump as a "deeply religious Biblical scholar" (yeah, the kid actually said that) - then there is no hope for these people. Covfefe is my favorite book in the Bible.

Is Covfefe where the guy goes to the town where they talked and water tasted good and they had food to eat? Someone was freed? People were mad? I am not a Biblical scholar as you can see.

We are from New Zealand, and much as though I sometimes feel I would like to boycott the USA because of Trump, on the other hand I'm determined that horrible man is not going to ruin our holiday dream we have been planning for years! But I'd be interested to know what makes you feel unsafe, and if I should be worried?

Didn't know deeply religious Biblical scholars bragged about grabbing women by the pussy. Interesting. And if he *were* a deeply religious Biblical scholar he would have studied what Jesus had to say about divorce. You know...like all those far-right Evangelicals, who give the rest of us Christians a bad name, who helped to elect a man who has been divorced. Oh wait...they're too busy taking a few verses about same-gender sex (not "homosexuality", which isn't even a word in the bible) out of context to focus on what Jesus had to say. He's pretty much the opposite of what the Jesus I know stood for. Grace, kindness, forgiveness, redemption.

Wow, that must be horrible for you. I can't imagine feeling that way about travelling in one's own country. I haven't seen such videos, but with all the bigots who suddenly feel they have a legitimate voice thanks to the president, I can totally understand why you would be worried and scared.
