Little late this month. I was a Maid of Honour this past weekend and well weddings are a lot of work.
I am going to my friends this weekend for a much needed scrappy day. My DH's bday is next weekend and he expects top quality scrappy cards...so that is on my agenda this weekend.
My 2 scrappy friends also got me something really amazing. they bought me the magnetic plate for the big shot plus. I'm overwhelmed by this because its an expensive item. So excited to get it.
If anyone is into tattered lace dies, I really recommend: crafting.co.uk website. sign up to their emails and you get a $10 (pound) off coupon. I joined their club for $10 (pounds) and get discounts and sales. Really fast shipping and via DHL.
That's all I can think of right now.

I made a goal of stamping more this month, and I learned...
The reason I don't stamp as often as I could is the time it takes: I have to find the stamp. (Even though I have them sorted by theme, I have a lot of them, and I might want one stamp that is part of a set whose theme might not come to mind immediately). Then I have to dig out the ink. And once I have stamped, I have to allow drying time...
I am loving my WRMK Precision Press. Another reason I had been avoiding stamping is that I am not very good at it. But now I am able to line up a stamp--or a whole group of them at once--and reapply the ink for a crisper image. Even used it the other day on a 12x12 page! Just lined up the page corner and stamped.
And that's my scrappy randomness for this Tuesday morning!

I actually sorted through a big pile of extra photos on Saturday. I threw some away! The rest are in envelopes by year. I figure I'll burden my kids with those, lol.

funny on the stamping thing! I used to be a SU! consultant and gave it up for various reasons which translated to me not stamping or making cards much in the last 3 years. But I found the MFT otter stamp set that was so cute that I couldn't pass it up. Then I realized that I needed a different kind of ink for a water type background for those otters, maybe a spray or something. So the last time I was at M's I decided to try a distress oxide ink pad (I'm not a fan of distress anything but was willing to give it a go) I got broken china and holy moly that ink is amazing! It blended really well and when I did the water splatter technique it was perfect for my little otter stamps! Now I'm going to have to show some restraint and not buy all.the.colors!

myboysnme Your costume sewing is very impressive! Thank you! I'm getting better with more practice and challenging designs. I sew without patterns so sometimes it takes some reworking to get people what they want.

I love seeing your sewing projects, myboysnme ! My husband was very into SCA about 20 years ago and he taught himself to sew so he could make garb. We took a big trip to Charleston a few weeks ago for our anniversary and so I have a zillion photos to scrap. But I haven't done any real scrapbooking in several years, just cardmaking. So I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. Add to that that my scraproom is currently piled with all the Christmas decorations from the attic that need to be sorted, re-organized and re-boxed and found space for in our bedroom closet if at all possible. I can't do a single fun scrappy thing in there until I deal with the Christmas stuff. And I feel like I need a real energy surge and a huge block of time over several days to tackle that, and I haven't had that happened yet. Paralysis, is what I'm saying. I'm just overwhelmed with the huge "to do" list.

They actually play quite often in your area somewhat at Riverview Farm Park every other Sunday - you may see them sometime in your travels! There was about 50 of them out there Sunday! They go to that tiny Harvest Ren Faire in Lee Hall in Oct too.
Wondering why your DH left the SCA? Does he do any other kind of reenacting or role playing?

My husband is a serial hobbyist. He really is, but what happened was we moved from Idaho to Ohio 21 years ago, and moved from an area where SCA was extremely active and full of fun people to an area where it was less active and he didn't click with the group in the same way. So that was part of it. And also he just moves from hobby to hobby, he's always looking to challenge himself with hobbies that include learning new skills and making new things and so he found many new hobbies between then and now. But he still has all his stuff, and when I told him just now that the local guys meet at the park, he was intrigued. Of course, he's 47 now, not 26, so I might have something cautionary to say about him jumping into fighting practice! LOL. And no, he's never done any other LARPing or reenacting or anything else like that. The medieval era and SCA was his one true interest.

The May crop that was cancelled and rescheduled for June has also been cancelled. She's going to reschedule it for September. So I had planned to unpack all my stuff and start working on those layouts this weekend, but then DD threw a wrench in my plans. She chose today to clean out her room, and all the stuff she no longer wants is sitting in my craft space so I can sort it and take what I can to donate. So, no scrapping until that's done. Oh well, I can't very well get upset with her for cleaning, can I ?

I am doing a scrap room reorg. I furnished it a couple of years ago and have been scrapping quite a bit the past several months so I now know how I think. I was torn between how to do the paper, because it could go two ways. I read through old posts on this board and decided what I am going to do and found a tip on some organizers that would fit my drawers.

I started 2017 in a scrappy slump, but now I'm getting back into it in a real way. The fact that I have (mostly) stopped shopping is helping. I still don't feel like I'm making much of a dent in my stash, but at least I'm not making the stash bigger.
The Felicity Jane kit is my spending exception. I always said I would never stop subscribing, but my supplies are building. I need to use them a bit faster. Anyone have tips on using up your kits?
I could also use tips that will help me use my stamps. I buy sets but tend to use only a couple of images.

thracian I've been using my FJ kits much more since I combined all the papers in one box and the embellishments in another. Now I grab from those boxes along with all my other stash. The exception is the last box, which I can't break up because it's so pretty

My sister brought over her grandkids (one is slightly older and the other is slightly younger than my youngest) and knowing the house was a mess, tell me why I got the urge to tidy up my scrap room as opposed to the living room? It's the first bout of inspiration I've had to clean up the piles taking over one side of the room in months.

My scrappy randomness:
I have so many layouts that I want to work on, that I have ideas for, but haven't started yet.
Why is it that there is always something else in the house that has to get done?

I have pulled out the scraps and all the solids/cardstock. I'm going to keep them in a separate pocket nearly. That's freed up some space so it's a little less overwhelming. I think one issue is that I go through phases when I use the paper a lot. Then I want to do something else, and while I'm doing that, more FJ builds up. Or maybe I need to quit for a few months? I dunno. That's not what I want to do, so I'm trying other things first.

Oh well, I can't very well get upset with her for cleaning, can I ? That's too bad about the cancelled crops. That happened to me last spring, just after I had decided to commit one weekend every two months to a crop schedule, the crops got cancelled a couple of times. Not even sure if they started up again in the fall. I was away and have lost contact with that group. I hope you can go through your dd's stuff and get it out of your craft room in time to hold your own little crop with all the stuff you had planned to play with at the scheduled ones. scrapaddict702, I probably SHOULD have started cleaning in my scraproom today, but instead for some reason decided to purge my clothes closets. Did I not remember that when I start a project like that it just explodes all over the room and creates a huge mess long before it starts to get better?

Me too! myboysnme, should we be wearing those little distress signal thingies that mountain climbers/skiers wear so that if our stash avalances on top of us we can press a button and lie back and wait for help to arrive?

That just made me giggle! Me too! myboysnme , should we be wearing those little distress signal thingies that mountain climbers/skiers wear so that if our stash avalances on top of us we can press a button and lie back and wait for help to arrive? Hysterical! Imagining myself laying there pulling one of those 'I've fallen and I can't get up' things under a mountain of scrap supplies that fell over on me and the rescuers come in and say, "Where the heck is she?" and they hear paper rustling and there I am, gripping 3 iris cases for dear life.

My stash of FJ fits easily in 2 FJ boxes, so I am ok for now! It's the rest of my stash I need to use more of.

I've been plugging along, making a couple of pages almost every day with my blue ridge pics. Having family here this weekend, so push pause. Here are my favorite so far. The glossmer blue kits have made it more fun. Thanks enabler!

I love how the yellow bg and the black matts make the greenery in the pics pop. And I like how you use the tags.

I haven't had too much time in my scraproom but I'm continuing to clean and organize when I get a chance. I have reorganized the ENTIRE room, and touched almost everything.
My last task is to sort all my patterned paper, which is currently sitting in 4 HUGE piles. I'm hoping to get it down to 3 huge piles, but that seems really unlikely. I love each and every piece. LOL

My room is in desperate need of TLC too. I have been using 2 cheap Ikea dressers to for storage and a drawer collapsed in both of them so I can only open the top drawers. ha! I don't even really know where to begin and don't have the time to deal with such a huge job. In the meantime, I am plugging away on the 100 day project making cards. I am 2 days behind but we're in the final stretch and I am ready for it to be over so I can get back to regular scrapbooking. Although I kind of love that I'll have my Christmas made way in advance plus enough other cards to last quite a while.

Paralysis, is what I'm saying. I'm just overwhelmed with the huge "to do" list. Then life stuff happens. I'm the type of scrapper who has to be in the right mood to scrap. I'm going to concentrate on heritage pages because I want to ignore some of the current life stuff. I've always wanted to try the fancy type of pages with all kinds of embellishments like this: It think it will be a fun challenge to do something outside my comfort zone and I don't feel rushed to have a heritage album done. I normally love a finished album; especially family albums. I'm currently on 2014.
