Hmmm ... "unwitting" gets him off the hook, though. He can't be held liable if he can claim he didn't know he was doing it. This is what I find the most disheartening of all. He will never be unseated or suffer any consequences whatsoever. I believe 45 is, and has been for most of his sheltered life, uncritical and uneducated in regard to anything which does not directly and immediately affect his interests. He also actively cultivates his selective memory. When his interests change (a business deal goes sour and he needs to drop a friend, undo a contract, whatever) he does so at the drop of a hat, makes any excuse he needs to and moves on, totally convinced of his rights and "rightness", superiority and "winning" record. He believes his own myth, really believes it and immediately denies then forgets anything even vaguely uncomfortable. All of this, combined with his lifelong avoidance of reading and short attention span means he is possibly the most unwitting person on the planet.

he is possibly the most unwitting person on the planet. Good description - and such a tragic one for America.
