Do you love it but don't think you'll ever use it? If so, why not keep a couple of pieces like a sugar bowl and something else to accent your table at special meals.

We never use our wedding china - probably because we only have four place settings and it has to be hand washed I have 12 place settings of Fiestaware that I have driven from Washington state (where I bought it) to Alberta ... loooooove it and would take it wherever I move ... I say sell your china if you don't plan to ever use it ...

I'm going to give my fine china away. I'll probably donate it to Goodwill or some where similiar. I've had for 21 years and may be used it three times. It's beautiful and I still like the pattern, I just don't entertain that way. If we have people over, it's usually a large group and we entertain out doors.O Oh good! I am so happy when people donate their china! Years ago, I decided that I wanted my boys to get used to using "real" dishes so I went to Goodwill and bought some china plates, bowls, etc. None of them match, but I like each one of the patterns, so I don't care if they don't match. Over the years, there has been inevitable breakage, but I just back to Goodwill and buy another piece. We use the china every night, and the bonus is that I don't have to pull out the "nice" china to use-I always use it! Over the years, I have also bought silver out of the Goodwill flatware buckets too. I have enough to seat 8. Of course none of them match either, but I bought them for 50 cents a piece, so what do I care? Fortunately, I love the mismatched table settings so I don't mind the finished look. Anyway, all that to say, I agree with a previous poster...if you don't care one way or another about the china, then have you considered just using it? I stick mine in the dishwasher all the time, because the wear doesn't bother me. I will just go back to Goodwill and get more.

It's tough, I know. I have my mothers china, very simple white Lennox(sp?) and silver service, a bit ornate, and both are for 16 settings. They entertained a lot and back in the 50-60's it was more formal. I use it on the holidays and special occasions, but that is a total of maybe four to six times a year at the most. Have never used the full service for 16. But I like having the option of using it and have not and do not plan many more moves, plus I have a hutch in the dining room where it is easy to store.
I think if I moved frequently, never used it or had a tough time storing I would get ride of all of it except for maybe four settings.

I love mine, and I use it. My weirdo kids don't mind handwashing it -- they love having any dinner (even if it's only boxed macaroni and cheese) on the fancy dishes. We pull out the crystal candlesticks and silver and everything.
Do you use it? Do you still love it? Is it easily replaced with something later? That's a decision only you can make.

I have several china tea and chocolate sets that I inherited from my parents. They're all Bohemian in origin, date from the early to mid 1800s and were owned by my great grandparents/great great grandparents. I just love the fact they given me a connection to the past and I do use them when I have friends over for afternoon tea (even though they require hand washing!)
But if your china is in boxes, doesn't bring your pleasure and you don't think you'll use it, I'd say get rid of it.

I have a set of dishes from my grandmother, not sure if they are really even worth anything. Anytime we have someone over for a meal we use it. It is nothing fancy so it works. We then have our everyday dishes, a set of Correlle, that we use everyday. I don't think I could get rid of mine because we do use them enough. We have not entertained a whole lot recently, but hopefully that will change in the near future. We enjoy getting together with others, and want to do more of it.
Like most have said, if there is not some sentimental reason to keep it and you don't use it now or forsee yourself using it in the future, I would get rid of it.

I vote that you just use it and let nature take it's course.

I use mine. If I didn't, I'd get rid of it.

I think everyday is 'best'. The fact you can share a meal with loved ones is precious. If you're not using it, pass it on to someone who will. I have my grandmother's china. I use it every day. Pieces have broken, but that is alright. Many memories are made with this china.

I purposely never bought/registered/asked for china as I knew I would never use it. So I would get rid of it!
