Absolutely do-able! I've lost 30 lbs since March 1. A little under my goal of 2lbs a week, but I went on vacation for a week and had a cheat week that kinda screwed me up since I couldn't really exercise and the Mexican food was too tempting. I use My Fitness pal to track my calories. It's the easiest way for me to stay accountable to myself. Best wishes on getting healthy! I'm sorry your dr. wasn't more gentle with you.

Yes. I'm on the radiation diet. Have lost 11 lbs in 12 days. *snort* Seriously, though, yes you can do this.

I'm sorry your doctor has made you afraid to fail, though :-( It is a new doctor for me. He was rather straight forward, grabbed a handful of belly fat, and told me I need to lose a lot of weight. Made me feel about an inch tall. But, I don't have a lot of choices with my insurance right now, so I'm kind of stuck with him. And I needed to see him to be established as patient, so that I can go to him if I need to (like when I had shingles, but didn't have an established doctor). Funny thing is, I didn't even do to that appointment for my weight. It was just a check up because I had shingles earlier in the year. Of course you can. But you cannot tell me you have only one doctor to choose from. You deserve better than this one.

If you don't eat any of those things or in moderation you will lose 3 lbs. I would be willing to guess 4 or more but not positive until you do the work. Will it be hard? Maybe. Are you going to exercise? What if you walked 30 min 3 nights a week? That will help and will build muscle tone. Then your legs look better, too.
Good luck!

I highly recommend the Fast Metabolsim Diet (there is a book and app to help track plus supportive FB groups). Diet stands for Did I Eat Today and it follows clean eating like others have suggested - no wheat, corn, sugar, dairy, caffeine, soy, diet/fake/processed foods, no dried fruit or fruit juices, alcohol, etc. It's more of a lifestyle shift than a diet that deprives you of something. I lost 25 pounds in less than 5 months and have kept it off over a year (even with adding some ice cream and sweets back in and not exercising) and feel so much better. When I cheat or eat crappy foods or too much sugar, I can definitely tell and feel sluggish. Lots of water, veggies, fresh fruit, lean protein, healthy fats, but in specific combinations (three phases throughout the week, repeatedeach week) to reset your body and metabolism. Three meals and two snacks a day - you need to fuel your body. Her book really explains the science behind why it works (I checked it out from the library, but you can find most of the "rules" online or pinterest).

My husband decided he wanted to lose 30+ lbs before the baby arrives and that gave him 3 months. My mom bought him a plan called Detox Organics and he stuck to it for 21 days before she put him on a more sustainable plan. He lost 25 lbs in those 21 days on this detox. It's hard work, but it can be done. For him it was cutting out the bad carbs, the added sugar, and focusing on green veggies and lean proteins. Throw in some walking (incline, especially!) and the pounds will come off. Oh, and the other trick from this detox was starting the day off with a full glass of lemon water.

I'm sorry the doctor treated you that way LavenderLayoutLady. You can do this and do it for yourself, not some asshole doctor with no bedside manner. Hugs!
