Ok, who has avoided the Ice Bucket Challenge so far...

I was tagged but untagged myself and will not be participating. Had to unfriend someone over if sadly. I will give money to who I choose not be blackmailed into it.

DH has participated - donated and doused himself. I've only donated.

I was challenged this morning and told the person challenging me that they should have done it last week before I made my donation.

I've been tagged twice and untagged myself both times.  Luckily, no one has said a word to me about it.  I also will not be participating.

I cannot wrap my mind around this word:  blackmail. It seriously boggles the mind.  If it has resorted to actual blackmail amongst your friends, you need new friends and you need to involve the authorities. Maybe even get a lawyer. Blackmail?  Isn't that an extreme use of the word?

I've decided that it's become too popular so I don't want to participate at this point.

Let's see calling people out publicly to force them to donate to something they don't want to participate them in. When they untag themselves calling them out again publicly and shaming them saying they owe the ALS foundation $100 and starting a group message using interesting language over it. Yeah that is blackmail to me. And trust me. Unfriending happened. No lawyer needed but it still is bullshit.

I haven't been. I don't really post on FB anymore though. I check it because I'm involved in a couple group pages.

One of my dds has done it twice- once as an individual and once as part of her dance team. Neither time was money donated. I asked her about it and she said they were increasing awareness. :/

I don't begrudge anyone else doing it but I wouldn't even if I was nominated.

My husband's granddaughter is coming up this weekend. I think she wants us to do it. I'm pretty sure that papa would do it for her. We'll donate the $10 anonymously. I don't want the $300 worth of junk mail that comes from donating.

I won't be doing it for reasons already posted.

What bothers me is that you're vilified if you don't do it. Suddenly this has become the popular charity because it makes everyone feel cool to participate. We have a friend that was recently diagnosed with ALS so I know to some of them it is near and dear to their hearts, so I understand why they're doing it.

But for me, I have a mom who survived cancer, but it looks like she might face the battle again. And I had a sister, my best friend, who fought the hard battle and lost her life to brain cancer. I watched the most beautiful, caring, gentle spirited young woman suffer, for two years. I watched her cry and cry when she found out her cancer was extremely rare and not very receptive to treatment, I watched her come to accept that she would not get to see her nieces and nephews grow up, so forgive me if I choose to give to something other than ALS just because it's the thing to do right now.

I had to do it on my computer (not my phone) but there's a drop down box next in the upper right corner of the post (it's like a little 'v') and when you click that drop down, one of the options is to Remove Tag....

I've been called out twice (once via email, not FB) and once as a troop leader by another GS troop leader (she challenged my troop). My 9 yr old son has been called out on MY FB page bc he doesn't have FB. He doesn't even know what this challenge is about.

I'm ignoring all of it. I had just recently donated to our local rescue squad and I didn't even want to do that. I'm not going to feel forced to donate again. A friend mentioned in his video that he was also donating to water.org as this challenge is wasting a tremendous amount of water - he's totally right about that. If I do end up donating, I'll donate to that cause.

I haven't. DH was, and challenged DD (which she was actually thrilled about). I told them it would be stupid to challenge me because I will just lie and say I am donating money. I don't like being told who to donate to, or even to donate at all. In fact, I know DD and DH don't have the gumption to make the donations they are supposed to for doing it, and I'm certainly not doing it for them!

I was JUST tagged today. I thought I had avoided it as it seemed to be dying down with all the back to school posts.
