in some ways it feels like yesterday, and in some ways it seems like a lifetime ago. A school friend of mine posted almost those exact words just the other day, about the loss of his mum 35 years ago. I can totally relate. Big gentle (((hugs))) to you Merge.

I'm so sorry, Merge. I wasn't around when it happened but I remember the discussion last year & can't imagine such a nightmare. Much peace to you.

Thank you for sharing the story of their lives and loss so we can know about these two dear people you hold in your heart and about how to learn and live on in their memories.

I remember very well when this happened. I live on a lake and I will never forget the impact their story had on me. Although we no longer do any boating, I always share your story with others to raise awareness. My thoughts are with you today.
Our community has been rocked in the last several weeks by the deaths of a father and his 4-year-old daughter who were caught up in the propeller of a large houseboat that was backing up close to shore. The little girl was killed instantly. Her father's legs were amputated by the propeller and he died a week or so later in the hospital. Toxicology reports are still pending but it appears that hopefully this was just a horrible accident. However, there are still plenty of rumors that the boat driver was drunk or had been drinking and others who say that the father had been. Whatever the truth ends up being, boats, water and alcohol are a deadly combination that can change so many lives in a matter of seconds.
Gentle hugs.

I'm glad you were able to spend last weekend with your siblings to remember and celebrate your parents.
I always think of you when I hear about boaters who are towed because they have been drinking. Our local water police frequently check boats and drivers. Anytime someone complains I tell your story.

I do believe we need to share, that it is what we are meant to do, to listen to and learn from one another. (((HUGS)))

Hugs @merge, and jenjie. We've all learned from your experiences, but I wish you weren't in a position to teach them.

Thank you for sharing your story Merge and Jenji so that we can learn, remember and teach others that alcohol and getting behind any kind of wheel don't mix. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your parents Merge. May you feel peace today in their memory. Sending you lots of hugs!!!
