'fess up, what is it? Paper crimping? Wet embossing? Flocking? Paper tearing? Sticker sneeze? Eyelets? Cutting pictures into shapes other than circle/rectangle? Something else? What is something that is old that you still do that you like/love? Discuss!

I recently pulled out my brads and I still like using twine for layering & texture.

I still use brads. Not the plain small ones very much, but the larger ones with designs. Great topic, crystalb.

Brads! Yes I use them occasionally still too! I was never a twine or ribbon person but I still have some for the kids projects and banners (we do banners for all bdays, holidays etc)

Tiny brads, paper tearing, inking edges, matting photos, and lots of photos on one page have always been my favorites.

I also ink edges rather often. I will tear sometimes. I have pulled my paper crimper out this month and my flock for my build your own kit, we will see. I was never really a wet embossing, loose glitter i.e. super messy type of girl. I do still enjoy dry embossing (folders).

Oh and 99% of the time my photos must be matted!

Tiny brads, paper tearing, inking edges, matting photos, and lots of photos on one page have always been my favorites. Me too. I tend to recycle techniques from time to time: all of the above, plus sometimes I do heat embossing or use alcohol inks on acetate for special effects. Used some ribbon on cards last week, and since I liked the effect, I may be doing that again soon as well. It helps that I never purge my scrappy supplies, so I can always dive back in (sometimes literally ) and use an oldy but goody.

Paper tearing and then chalking/inking the torn edge, and sanding/distressing paper and stickers.

I like inking edges. I like eyelets, especially big ones. And I like scalloped edge scissors.

Hmm...these are old techniques? I might be out of step with the times I ink my edges all the time...sometimes I distress them as well. I almost always mat my photos. I have lots of gorgeous embossing powder, so I frequently use it to cover pieces of chipboard. I like the way an eyelet finishes the hole on a tag. I use brads like I use enamel dots. I also recently got out my Making Memories tag tool...the one that crimps a metal frame around a circle, square, tag, etc...the tool and idea might be out of date in the scrapbook world, but I think the look is pretty classic. I also recently dyed and used some Tim Holtz crinkle ribbon on a layout and I really loved the look of it.

I think my style is stuck in 2012... the whole oxide ink, texture paste, foil, stencils, artsy messy layouts aren't my thing (yet). I haven't even tried to learn about much less spend money on all the stuff for it. Maybe in three years I will finally catch on...
I never cut pictures into shapes, and hated inking edges, and have torn paper maybe 4-5 times...
I have a lot of twine (those rolls last forever...) and I'm not afraid to use it. I stamp on almost every layout, use border punches, mists... I own eyelets but haven't used one in a while, maybe I should break them out...

inking the edges of papers, old school MME die cuts, Cricut images that are probably considered juvenile, brads, vellum (need to do this more),
Not a technique, but I still love those small Prima flowers that used to come in glass bottles. I have a hard time using the bulkier ones.

I mat every photo. I ink edges a lot. I'll never stop using brads or eyelits, and I have yet to purchase an enamel dot. I love vellum, but rarely use it. I am going back to stitching on my cards since I found my old Stampin' Up mat set just the other day. A couple new things I am trying are the oxide inks (I love stamping with them!) and I have texture paste along with a brayer on my shopping list.

I ink about 85% of the time and use fiber - twine/string and lace - a lot, but need to use my ribbons. I've been stamping on my traditional layouts for the last couple of months, including wet embossing.
I tend to cycle through clean and simple designs to lots of layers and clusters. I'll then throw in techniques - mixed media, die cutting, embossing (wet/dry), etc. and tend to cycle through those as well.

I almost always ink the edges of papers and photo mats. I just think it makes the layers stand out more. I also enjoy using multiple photos on a layout. Otherwise, I just do what I like. It may be new, old, or in between!

I will sometimes ink the edges of papers. I am using vellum more than I used to. But I am thinking about giving away my eyelets. I just can't imagine using them again.

I put more than one photo on a page. . #scrappingrebel This made me laugh. I will never get into the one small photo per layout trend. I also still like and use brads. And the occasional button. Do people still use buttons?

inking edges, matting photos, and lots of photos on one page have always been my favorites. I do those, too. Not a technique, but I still love those small Prima flowers that used to come in glass bottles. Me too! I also like larger paper flowers as long as they don't come with big middle parts. Just paper flower. Then I'll add Stickles, or an Enamel dot, or a sticker, or a paper punch, to the center.

Like many of you, I mat my multiple photos, ink the edges, and use all of my old stash. I don't care about brands or trends, although I do like to try the new things that come out. I have so much old stash, I have to use it because I can't bear to get rid of it. A really old thing I still use fairly often is my Coluzzle. I love it!

Just on Saturday I used rub-ons for the first time in a long time. I miss them. Was so excited to see some yesterday on SG's site with Carta Bella's and Echo Park's new fall collections!

90% of the time I mat my photos. Occasionally I'll tear paper for a border or use brads or buttons. I still do pocket pages for programs and such. If I'm doing a paper piecing (yes I still do them) I ink or chalk the edges.

I mostly have multiple photos on a page. Sometimes I use solid colored cardstock as my background paper. I still like fiber but it's hard to find now without having to buy a whole skein. And I...uh...do on occasion use a toned down version of... ...sticker sneeze. I haven't inked edges or matted photos in years. I just got out of the habit but reading this thread reminded me that those are a couple of good options. Thanks.

I start every layout with a sheet of solid cardstock. It's usually the background & only occasionally covered with patterned paper.
