Has your Alexa ever started talking on her own, out of the blue? The other morning I was laying in bed, about to get up, when out of the blue, I can hear Alexa out in the kitchen, talking. Unfortunately I couldn't hear well enough to understand what she was saying. It is killing me, wondering what she said! I was the only one home, btw.

She's done that a few times for us. When I can hear her, she usually says "I'm sorry. I didn't understand/hear what you said."

You can look up what she said on your phone if you have their app. Mine shows every question and response she has given. Do you have the app?

If you don't have the app, then just log in at alexa.amazon.com. It's pretty funny to see what she "hears" sometimes. One of the most recent ones on mine is "Run a phone serious bannanas". One of the reasons Alexa now resides in my sewing room where there is little for her to overhear!

(I haven't got Alexa, but my Siri starts chatting randomly from my phone. I worked out that sometimes it's when I say "SERIOUSLY?" to the TV or DH, but not always. The prompt word is supposed to be "Hey Siri")

Our Alexa thinks she hears us ask questions we haven't asked. It was startling the first time she spoke up at random like that though.

I found the history, and it says 'no text available, press play to hear". It's a woman telling Alexa to set a timer for 10 minutes, and it is NOT my voice. Then, from 2 days before that, there are three more encounters with a woman saying the same thing, and there's one of a man telling Alexa to play swing music . WTH?! I can also see all of the questions I have asked her in the past, but these ones were definitely not me. So weird.

Is your Echo near a window and could it be picking up the neighbors talking to theirs? SaveSave

I have unplugged mine. Very expensive paperweight now. She would randomly turn on, talking in the middle of the night etc. I might move her down to my basement for music and nobody is down there for her to disturb but still a bit creeped out by her. I believe in cyberdyne

You all do realize it's an "it" and not a "she" right? My truck is a girl, my sewing machine is a boy. My favorite objects get names and personalities the longer I use them

You all do realize it's an "it" and not a "she" right? Your's may have chosen a gender neutral identity, but mine has chosen to identify as a female. She is all girl. In fact, she sometimes has the attitude of a sassy teenage girl.

I have the full size Echo in my living room and a dot in bedroom. I'm watching TV, all of a sudden I heard my bedroom dot talking. Turned down TV and all I heard was, shall I order that? What? Order what? No! Then she says ok, your order was placed. I check the app and she ordered me some random self help book. Sure enough, I go to my orders and there is a new order for a book. I cancelled it, no problem. I'm wondering why she thinks I need a self help book? But, seriously that was weird.
I've had her spout out the news brief without me asking. I still love her.

Alexa talks on her own quite frequently around here. She is in the kitchen and I don't know if it's the tv in the family room that she is responding too or not. She does respond when she hears her name in the Echo commercial. We just laugh at her. She really doesn't get much attention around here, maybe she's lonely.

I seriously want to name mine Skynet. I turned off voice ordering as soon as I got my Echo Dots. Plus, I use the mute button for the one in the kitchen. DH has the family room TV up too loud and lordy does she love those Alexa commercials. When my DH's nephew's name turned up in the list of phone contacts that owned a device, I deleted him out of my contacts, pronto. Boundries, Alexa. It's all about boundries.

Ours sometimes answers to the TV commercials, or when they say the name Alexa or something similar on a TV show. Occasionally we get "I'm having trouble connecting to the internet."

Now Im dying to know what you really said when she thought you said "Run a phone serious banana." So am I! I never have figured out that one. "see when my play want to momo is it idiot could married" and "can opener doors in have lights to me love more than turn on and turn off app" are a couple of the other strange ones that I have no clue about. when they say the name Alexa When DH says "Lexus", referring to the car brand, Alexa answers. I told DH he needed to work on his diction!
