Nate Silver is rambling on about something but this one tweet is spot on.
“Alternative hypothesis: Trump has poor impulse control & is easily triggered, especially when being challenged (esp. by women & minorities).”

Greg Sargent...
“Republicans have been complaining for years that the ACA had been “rammed through,” even though it was debated for a year and subjected to nearly 200 hearings, hundreds of amendments (including many offered by Republicans), and multiple CBO scores.
But the GOP just tried to remake the entire American health care system with but a single farcical hearing, no expert testimony, no full CBO score, and barely any floor debate.”
Problem is too many people believe the lies the Republicans in Congress are telling. So they keep telling them.
I was watching that disgusting scene where Capital Police were dragging out wheelchair bound protestors from that hearing. The only heating on the latest fiasco of the ACA repeal/replace. Yes the protestors shouted down the Senators and I understood why. These folks are tired of the lies and rather than listen to anymore lies they are making their voices heard.
It’s a shame it’s come to this.

Twitter is testing out 280 character tweets with a small group of people.

From the Daily Beast...
“Acting Drug Enforcement Administration chief Chuck Rosenberg is stepping down, citing his increased disillusionment with President Trump. Rosenberg, who was appointed by President Obama in 2015 and previously served as former FBI Director James Comey’s chief of staff, reportedly did not take kindly to the president telling police officers in July, “please don’t be too nice” with people suspected of committing a crime. That comment spurred a response from Rosenberg, who said in an email to all DEA employees that “we will always act honorably.” According to the New York Times, Rosenberg said he did not want to be considered for the job of DEA chief on a permanent, and did not want to work in the Justice Department altogether.”
Pretty soon anyone with any amount of integrity will be gone replaced by people with no experience taking private jets everywhere and getting $25,000 phone booths.

President Donald Trump has apparently deleted his tweets urging support for losing GOP Senate nominee Luther Strange.
According to ProPublica's tracking site Politwoops, three tweets backing Strange have been deleted from the president's official account since Roy Moore won the GOP Senate nomination.
The first deleted tweet said: "Big election tomorrow in the Great State of Alabama. Vote for Senator Luther Strange, tough on crime & border - will never let you down!"
The others said "Luther Strange has been shooting up in the Alabama polls since my endorsement. Finish the job - vote today for "Big Luther" and "ALABAMA, get out and vote for Luther Strange - he has proven to me that he will never let you down!"
The president also deleted a tweet congratulating Moore and urging him to "win in November." The election to choose Alabama's next Senator is in December.
Moore, Alabama's twice suspended Chief Justice, easily defeated Strange Tuesday night , despite last-minute personal appearances by Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. Later reports claimed Trump was regretting backing Strange, saying the former Attorney General didn't have a lot of charisma or energy on the campaign trail and the president was concerned about being associated with a losing candidate.
Moore faces Democrat Doug Jones in the Dec. 12 election.

Well, besides the ever-present possibility that the president has neither personal insecurity nor curiosity about this kind of knowledge, there's the niggling fact that it wasn't until last week that he even announced his intention to nominate a chief of protocol. (Who will have to go through Senate confirmation, so might not start the jobs for months.) Yes, previous presidents made that nomination at the time of inauguration. And yes, there is an existing permanent (non-political) protocol staff that does the nuts and bolts of protocol advising. But the chief of protocol is given ambassador status. Why? During foreign visits from/to foreign dignitaries, only people with at least ambassador status are allowed access to the room before or during the visit...to make reminders about, among other things, the actual title of the dignitary.

Are they on vacation or have they given up flogging a dead horse by the advice they give out which he ignores? Dunno. My guess is the latter. This is what these people do for a living, so I can't imagine they're not making an effort. But as we know all too well now, the president insists on briefing memos with no more than (I think) nine bullet points. Whether they're read is another thing, Total speculation, of course, but I don't see this guy as thirsty for protocol knowledge. Or even tearing his eyes from his big screen TV long enough to focus on a memo about social niceties he's sure he can surmount by turning on the Bombastic Flashy New York Billionaire Charm Offensive.

“JUST IN: Trump admin refuses to lift shipping restrictions to help get supplies to Puerto Rico hill.cm/XS2eEQ0”
Now keep in mind president tiny hands is proud of his response to the crisis in Puerto Rico.
This is shaping up to becoming a worse crisis than Katrina. Old tiny hands wanted to be better at something than previous presidents. Looks like he may accomplish that as a bigger screwup than Bush on Katrina but unfortunately at the expense of the Americans in Puerto Rico.

I don't think it was about an industry though, but perhaps that the request came from a governor who is a Democrat? This decision can only hurt Puerto Rico, such a sad decision for fellow Americans!

🚫 #MAGA but the Jones act was waived in order to assist after Harvey and Irma, and those affected weren't surrounded by a "big ocean" And those in the shipping industry should not be determining who live and dies.

(DHS) Acting Secretary Elaine Duke today urging the department to waive the Jones Act for Puerto Rico to aid recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Maria. The Jones Act requires that all goods shipped between waterborne ports of the United States be carried by vessels built in the United States and owned and operated by Americans. Shipping costs from the United States mainland to Puerto Rico have been estimated to be twice as much as from neighboring foreign islands.
In the letter, Senator McCain also asks DHS to assess how a long-term waiver or full repeal of the Jones Act would impact recovery efforts of hurricane-damaged communities, including in Florida and Texas. from John Mccain:
“The Department of Homeland Security has been given the ability to waive the Jones Act to accommodate national security concerns, and has done so twice in the last month,” writes Senator McCain. “These emergency waivers have been valuable to speed up recovery efforts in the impacted regions. However, I am very concerned by the Department’s decision not to waive the Jones Act for current relief efforts in Puerto Rico, which is facing a worsening humanitarian crisis following Hurricane Maria. It is unacceptable to force the people of Puerto Rico to pay at least twice as much for food, clean drinking water, supplies and infrastructure due to Jones Act requirements as they work to recover from this disaster. Now, more than ever, it is time to realize the devastating effect of this policy and implement a full repeal of this archaic and burdensome Act.”
The irony that the Jones Act was waived for Irma and Harvey, hurricanes that caused damage to the mainland, and had the option of receiving supplies over roads and via trains versus a Island, US Protectorate, that is surronded by water:
Puerto Rico, Mr. Trump pointed out, posed a special challenge to disaster relief efforts. “It’s on an island in the middle of the ocean,” he observed to a reporter who asked him whether he had been too consumed by his feud with the National Football League to give it proper attention. “You can’t just drive your trucks there from other states.” ww.nytimes.com/2017/09/26/us/politics/trump-puerto-rico-hurricane.html?mcubz=3
Thanks for the geography lesson A**hole. So waive the Jones Act, and start delivering supplies, and airlift supplies, and treat them like human beings.
This will be his Katrina, but that's probably what he wants. "I had the biggest disaster. Yuge! Biggly!"
