I made a mixed berry pie for friends I had not seen in a long time - was invited to lunch and we talked for 4 hours LOL. She served foil packets with salmon, shrimp, potatoes, sausage, corn and seasonings. I did not even eat any of the pie because the lunch was huge and absolutely delicious. They loved the pie so I left it with them.
Wish I had taken a second foil packet home hahaha.
Thanks for the thread. Glad you are calmed down and planning to pursue it all.

I was being kind and made us appies. One tonight's menu we are having the boccollini with olive oil, balsamic and some chopped herbs. I was kind of hungry and we won't be eating for a couple of hours still so I wanted something to eat. It is very low carb. (Not that it matters to me, but it would matter to some in the family who watch carbs...)

Grilled cheese on sourdough, brie, fig jam, apples. Salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, goat cheese, dried cranberries, candied walnuts with a pear vinaigrette.

I'm not sure yet. DSO is going to the football this afternoon, so he probably won't want dinner. DS is staying at MIL's house with his cousin so he won't be home for dinner. I don't know if DD is coming home for dinner after work. If I'm the only one eating, there is a fair chance I will cook up a box of Kraft mac & cheese for myself.

scrappert, thank you for your support. lucyg, ice cream is a food group. You need to eat from all food groups! bc2ca you nailed it when you discussed the emotional and physical prep. tuesdaysgone, sugar is a tough addiction. I used to have a gnarly sweet tooth. It's not fun to try and give it up. KelleeM, this is not a race. Maybe you'll lose slowly, because that's how you need to do so. Just remember that you're thinner than you were and that one step at a time is perfectly fine. Fitting stuff into your diet like strawberry shortcake is OK. If you plan it and own it and savor it so much the better. Just plan lighter foods that day, load up on veggies at lunch, etc. You can do this, but punishing yourself is never OK.

I am taking care of myself a bit better right now and one thing I have decided to do is take vitamins. I am starting *slowly* with Calcium and Vit D. I like these Hair, Nails and Skin vitamins a lot as they are gummies and I can get them at Costco. I bought the same brand Calcium/D ones today and they are all sugary. They are kind of gross. If they aren't chewable I will not take them. I already take enough pills that I don't want to swallow any more. Ok so I have had 2 of them. They really aren't that nice.
I found a whole lot of stuff to return to the store tomorrow. I was told by the cosmetician at the store to return these skin creams I bought if they didn't agree with me. They didn't. I am not just going to sit on them until they expire and toss them. She told me specifically to return and try something else. I am going to do that. It's just wasting money and I am not using them.
Then I want to go to Greek Fest but BFF just went on a houseboat cruise for a week with her family. (OMG I can tease her about this for years! She will embellish the story to make it better and I will be in stitches. She has such dry humour and OMG is funny. Her mother is English and her father is Irish (very) and her humour is a combination of both. She makes me laugh and it's pretty obvious why we are BFFs).
Other BFF has to work at a garage sale for the day so she can't go. I also only want the two of us to go and not her daughter.
I know someone else I can ask. I will call her and see if she wants to go.

Well, I ended up making quiche and broccoli and blintzes for my sisters. The quiche is this Hearty Spinach & Onion Quiche from the blog of our own rebelyelle. I've made it a bunch of times and I always add my own stuff, too ... mushrooms, oh, mozzarella cheese today ... it's a keeper. Bacon sometimes, when my non-pork-eating sisters aren't here. The blintzes are my stepmother's specialty, and I had some in the freezer that my sisters were craving. The 8yo went to the ice cream social with my BIL, and then his dad picked him up and they went out for Chinese food. So no one went hungry.

The smell and taste just gross me out. Who doesn't like bacon??? I mean it's bacon! Religious reasons I get but for people that isn't an issue for it's weird. I hate ham just as much. I don't know what to get on pizza anymore. I have been getting this vegetarian one. It's ok but there's no tomato sauce on it. I feel like I am betraying my Hawaiian pizza loving friends.
