Christian radio host Rick Wiles said on his “TruNews” broadcast yesterday that Hurricane Harvey was the result of Houston’s “affinity for the sexual perversion movement" w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/340160522&color=ff0000Not to be outdone... Christian Right activist Dave Daubenmire, said on his Pass The Salt Live webcast that Houston brought the storm upon itself for allowing abortion and electing a lesbian mayor. Ah, the tyranny of Christian radio host thinking.

Yeah, Ann Coulter got in on that action a couple of days ago.
They're just looking for attention. Ignore, ignore, ignore. I do wonder, though, what these people think Harvey was a 'judgment' for in the very conservative, red, Christian towns down the coast that took the category 4 winds, or the ones in east Texas currently under water.

Based on Harvey it is hard to tell if Houston is too liberal for God or too conservative.

It is very sad and unbelievable that people are thinking these comments, and even worse publicly announcing them. While this professor didn't actually blame the GOP, he did insinuate that it might be karma. That was a horrible and uncalled for comment and he was promptly fired from his position for it. Hopefully the followers of the Rick Wiles and Dave Daubenmire have done the same...or maybe they believe the same crap that these two "Christians" are spewing. It makes me so sad.

He shouldn't have used twitter with only a certain number of character if he really wanted to get his message across. This was his reason for saying what he did:- “I was referring to the GOP denial of climate change science and push to decrease funds from agencies that can help in a time like this,” Storey told ABC Action News. “I hope all affected by the storm are safe and recover quickly. I also hope this helps the GOP realize the need to support climate change research and put in place better funding for agencies like NOAA and FEMA.” linkStorey continued, “I’ve been clear with that through various tweets that followed the initial tweet. It is hard to express one’s full thoughts in 140 characters and I realize that taken out of context some tweets may sound extremely off-putting. I never intended it to be that.”

Storey is a piece of shit. He can do all the damage control he wants but it not going to fix what he said. How can someone, anyone, look at the destruction and suffering of innocent people (children, babies and old people in wheelchairs in waist deep water) and say the atrocious things he says?
Karma indeed. I hope he NEVER finds another job. I surely wouldn't want him teaching my kids with his distorted and warped views. Lets blame voters for the hurricane....let's hope karma takes a hugh bite out of his ass.!!!
Cindy.

That was my first thought as well. And geez, but who decides to use a natural disaster that has ruined millions of lives to go, "Haha! Told you so! Should have followed my beliefs! Now you have the wrath of God rained down upon you!" I mean, truly, anyone who wants to try to push their beliefs (political or religious) by being nasty and casting blame during this type of catastrophe is truly a bad person. There is no "but" about it.

Horrible pieces of garbage, all of them. Apologies only count if they're followed by deeds.
The correct response to Harvey is "My heart is heavy to see the destruction and loss of life from this terrible natural disaster."
Why can't any of them see that?

I hate that these idiots can say that shit in the name of "Christian beliefs". It's as far from being Christ-like as I've ever seen and known.
Years back here, a small city flooded horribly from a creek--no one ever saw it coming or imagined it would ever happen. A death resulted from the flood.
So called Christians came out and said it was God's hand because the town had a big Harry Potter event and it was "witchcraft".
People are unbelievable as to what they believe sometimes.

I think both the right extreme "Christians" and the left extreme politician placing blame in the above stories are equally disgusting- apology or no (which I don't buy, he was just covering his behind. Like I tell my kids, you can't just say or do whatever you want and expect an "apology" to wipe it away).
All three of these people are self serving assholes.
And calling out one side and not the other his the height of hypocrisy.
Why is it so hard to say "both were wrong"?

I'm pretty sure he meant it or he wouldn't have posted it. As I said above he was promptly fired and I am okay with that, even when he has tried to explain he was referencing climate change. He said it and he needs to own it...just as should Trump or anyone else using twitter to make bold/idiotic statements. I can understand why you loathe what he said and hopefully you feel the same way about the other 2 people that were mentioned on this thread...that you did not denounce or mention at all.

I've seen some pretty awful and inappropriate stuff being said by a very vocal minority on both sides of the aisle. I refuse to give them any space in my head.
This storm completely renewed my faith in the ability of Americans to put aside their differences and come together for a common cause in a time of need. I'm not going to let a handful of attention seekers ruin that for me or try to divert attention away from flood victims who are going to need a tremendous amount of help over the next year.
Who cares what some idiot has to say?

They should STFU and get down here and help since they seem to have a lot of spare time. We have shelters, organizations and people that desperately need help.

Sandra Bullock said it best when she donated $1 million dollars. “There are no politics in eight feet of water. There are human beings in eight feet of water.”
