DH and I flew to Vegas yesterday from Seattle and I got an incredible view of Mt. Rainier from my window seat. You can see smoke from the WA wildfires in the upper left.

I love these photo threads. I just scrolled through my phone and picked a couple random ones. First is my neighbor's cat spying on my dog. One of her favorite things to do is to terrorize my dog. Lol. Second is my dd's birthday donuts. She wanted donuts rather than a cake. Don't they look yummy? Six are from Duck Donuts and six are from Sugar Shack.

This is my oldest son right after he proposed to this beauty earlier this week. We are so delighted to be welcoming her officially into our family. I was thrilled that he asked me to go to the site he had chosen to set up the candles and wait to snap a few photos! As I was hiding I heard her asking why they there, what was going on, why are there candles, and such. He got her up on the balcony, said just a little bit, and then asked her to marry him. She said yes and he yelled, "Mom, you can come out now!" Lol. He was sooooo nervous. It was such a sweet moment and I felt honored to be a part of it. Here's the setting.

1. This is one of my favorite pictures from vacation. It makes me happy. 2. Dh and I saw travis tritt last night. It was freezing cold but we had fun slow dancing in the sideways rain. We've had travis tritt tickets 4x and were finally actually able to go so I was super excited. It was so much fun!

At least you'd go into it eyes wide open about your husband's boundaries with his mom.

Do I share.....
The friend's photo of the kayak they used to get to the front door of our church?
Or the friend's photo of water up to the roof of her house?
Or the friend's photo aboard the Black Hawk helicopter?
choices, choices...
*I really won't share someone else's private photos here. But that's what's meaningful to me at the moment.

This is a picture of my son's fiancé gorgeous engagement ring. They both wanted a diamond, but were also both put off by the history and way so many of the diamonds today are gathered. Doing a lot of research, my son found a jeweler that was able to get an antique diamond from Europe for him to look at. This diamond doesn't have any negative history to it because it was mined before diamonds became such a bloodthirsty thing. The diamond mines used to be owned by families and worked by them peacefully as a normal business. They saw "Blood Diamond" as I did and were horrified by the conditions most diamonds are mined in. The cut of the stone at that time was also very different than the way diamonds are cut now. He fell in love with the stone, partly because of the beautiful look of it, but mainly that he could give her a diamond without a horrible past. This particular stone remained in a family until the last generation to receive it. It had been left to a grandson and he did not want or need the stone, so he sold it to this jeweler that my son now deals with. I think it is gorgeous and I'm so glad my son was able to find an antique stone that he was able to give to her without guilt. The photo isn't too clear. He said he was still shaking when he took this. I am thrilled that she will be a part of our family.

Good thing I have a really thick skin or I'd regret posting on this thread all the way around. OMG, I so did not mean to make anyone else think badly about their own diamonds! I am so sorry! This was just something that they felt strongly about. His fiancé is very much an animal lover and peace loving person. He just wanted to give her a diamond, and when he learned about these vintage stones, he was happy to be able to give her one. Millions of people buy gorgeous diamond rings using today's stones and that's fine. This was just their choice. And as a matter of fact, he did give an engagement ring to another girlfriend years ago and it was a "normal" diamond of today. Fortunately, that engagement didn't pan out, and because of this girl's preferences, he didn't want to do that. And for the record, I see nothing wrong with your son asking you to be there and take pictures. I would have done so had I been asked to. Boundaries? It isn't like you chose the ring for him. Who else would he get to hide in the bushes to take photos for him? He trusted you. Not a thing wrong with that and that comment about boundaries was rude.

MG, I so did not mean to make anyone else think badly about their own diamonds! I am so sorry! No worries! I'm laughing. Honest. And the ring your son chose is lovely. I'm partial to old mine cut stones as well.

Would you believe that I forgot to ask for a window seat when we flew to Vietnam last month. I could have kicked myself! I'd been hoping to get some wonderful photos from the plane like yours. I did manage to get a window seat on the one hour flight from Da Nang to Ho Chi Min City, but it was getting dark. I took this photo on our ascent:
