FYI: Hello Story 2 will be open for registration on Monday. Hello Story Uno was $65, so I’m assuming it’ll be about the same.

AE classes are 40% off. Anything worth taking at the reduced prices? I have only taken Storytelling with December Daily. Maybe Hybrid or Lens of Joy? Hybrid is somewhere between basic and intermediary digital skills. If you are already fairly confident in working with digital files, I’d skip it. Agree. For anyone brand new to photoshop, this class is fantastic. I was a total beginner and I learned SO much. Still refer back to it when I can't remember how to do something.

Any thoughts on the Travel Product Play class? Does ahe show her album anywhere else? (For some reason I thought she may have - is it shown in the Travel Stories class?) mom I think you took this class - any review now that you’ve had the whole class?

I took the stories of travel class but not product play. She does a flip through of her product play album in the stories of travel class, but doesn’t provide process info (although imo it’s not necessary). She also puts together another 12x12 travel album in stories of travel that I don’t think she shares anywhere else. The contributor albums in product play I don’t think are shared elsewhere.

I enjoyed seeing all of the contributor albums and Ali’s album. I liked seeing the creativity and thought process. I think if you travel a lot, are looking for inspiration, and sometimes feel stumped by the limiting 3x8 format, this is a nice class to add on. I wouldn’t pay full price for it, but I enjoyed it at a discount.

I'm intrigued by Hello Story... pancakes pancakes did you take it? what did you think? I have taken Hello Story 1. It is a ton of content, way more than her more recent classes IMO (I have taken more than half of her classes). I actually haven't finished going through it yet :/ This is because I am forcing myself to create 2-3 layouts per "week" before I will let myself watch the next lesson! I'm doing the same thing with Type and have only made it through a couple of weeks for each so far, but I do plan to go back and do more at some point. The pages she created are very inspirational and well thought out, nothing is just thrown together. The only thing I would warn is that it's slightly outdated--you can tell from the supplies/style that it's an older class. I think the concepts are still fully relevant. She creates primarily traditional 12x12 pages. She had started project life when she created this class, and she does provide some info for it, but the class is really focused on traditional scrapbooking. I do think there are also a lot of digital products. I would say this class is definitely worth the price.

I remember not being blown away by Ali's contribution, I think she was focused on photo editing, which I blew through. What was useful for me were the contributors, they are some of my fave DT members (Lisa, Amy, Ingunn and Pam). I got lots of ideas from their albums and like pancakes said because they focused on 3 by 8 which was pretty new , the class was really useful. At $12 I would definitely recommend it.

I'm notorious for buying these online classes and then not watching the videos. I used to hate watching them - I'm too impatient, but I am getting better at it. I like your approach of creating the layouts for the lesson before watching the next.
I have to do a better job of actually doing instead of just thinking about it, lol.

I am the same! I have a mini binder that I keep notes in from classes where I write down the tips/ideas, and then sketch out page ideas. It helps me focus during the videos. I really enjoy the process videos though, I've always just struggled through the "lesson" ones, although they are full of great ideas.

I do think there are also a lot of digital products. I would say this class is definitely worth the price. Was it worth FULL price? Good question... I did not pay full price. I got it during a sale, I think it was 50% off but it could've been 40% off. I also picked up Type for free because of an error with story kits where they gave everyone a free class. I do think it's bonkers that the original price of Type was $99 and the original price of Hello Story was $65 because Hello Story seems to have way more content. This also makes me think that Hello Story 2 might be $99 instead of $65 because prices have gone up since the first Hello Story came out. ETA: No way was Type worth $99. I really enjoyed the class, but I would've felt extremely cheated if I paid that much for it! The only classes (that aren't recurring projects like story kit classrooms) that I think I paid full price for are Stories of Travel, Storytelling with Project Life and Storytelling with December Daily and mostly because those were not as pricey. I did feel a little ripped off with Stories of Travel, but I do think it was a good class--just not for full price. I think Hello Story could be worth full price if you really enjoy classes, commit to doing them, and you have plenty of extra scrapbook budget to buy supplies. But if you have a limited budget, you probably will get more out of supplies than a class. But then, I've also been scrapbooking for a long time so I really just do the classes because I enjoy the process and it helps push me to create, not because I actually expect to learn much. If it is $65 I will probably bite the bullet and buy Hello Story 2 for full price. I'm hoping taking it "live" will help push me through the entire class. ETA: I think Storytelling with December Daily is a really good deal right now, probably because it's not seasonal, but it's only $9. All this talk of classes pushed me to buy Travel Product Play because I haven't bought a product play class before and thought for $12 I would enjoy it.

Is it worth full price? NO! Is it worth $12? Yes but only because of the contributors projects. Ali phoned it in. So yea, for $12, get it. But otherwise, pass.

I've always wondered why Type was so much more expensive. I only ever buy her classes during the 40% off sale. I've banned myself from purchasing anymore until I finish the ones I've already bought 😑. I have the same issue of being too impatient with the videos.

I really liked the process videos that the contributors provided. I thought it was a nice variety both in terms of the portions of the process that they covered and the length. If I remember correctly, for example, Amy Gretchen had two videos, one of which was an hour long and went through the process in depth, and another that was a quicker flip through. Other contributors had a few shorter videos. I’d get it for $12. In contrast, I found only like 25% of the stories of travel content to be engaging.

Hello Story 1 was 12 weeks of content for $65 -- Hello Story 2 will only be 3 weeks of content so I think it might be around $25? Just curious, where did you see it was only 3 weeks of content? In Ali's Response to a question on FB: Ali, could you maybe tell a bit more about Hello Story 2? I have a subscription for the Story Kit, which helps me a lot telling my stories. I was wondering what extras Hello Story 2 can give us? What will be differences between Hello Story amd the Story Kits, and/or extras? Ali McDougall Edwards: Sure! Hello Story 2 is going to follow the formula I started in the first Hello Story workshop. It will have three weeks of content that will focus on grids, lists, and color. Since Hello Story was the basis/inspiration for the Story Kit there will be similarities in how the content is presented - handout, process videos, etc - it's just giving me a chance to talk about some different areas that are more design related.

I saw it. I am not really familiar with kellyish, so I am not sure what it means for the brand. I am curious why it took months for them to introduce her as a team member, though. I hope part of Kelly’s new role is proofreading 😂😂😂😂

Never heard of kellish. Is there a handwriting test before you can join AE? They all have the same indecipherable loopy handwriting.

I follow her on IG. She's also on the AE design team. She is a talented photographer and I like her scrapbook pages a lot. I do get tired of the filter that she uses all of the time.
I believe she has some online classes as well. Idk, Perhaps it will be nice to get some fresh eyes in there for design perspective. Maybe Katie is stepping back a little with baby #2 on the way?

I've noticed lately how some of Ali's responses posted on FB did not sound like something Ali would say. I thought there was someone else behind these messages and it must be this Kelly gal. I agree that Katie with Baby #2 coming along will need a replacement while she is out on maternity leave PLUS her own candle business may be taking more of her time along with her husband's leather craft business. She has a lot on her plate now.

So AE is now making the digital version of the word phrase stickers into one sheet that you have to cut and paste yourself using the rectangle marquee tool. The idea is fine, as I imagine as a user, sorting through many individual word phrase sticker image files isn’t efficient.
Here’s where I’m a little floored: Although I appreciate that AE is making it crystal clear for customers on the change, I’m very surprised to see a video that shows how to cut and paste the word phrases in Photoshop, since it’s so incredibly basic.
Are there really digital or hybrid users out there who don’t already know how to select, cut, and paste?
