The Give kit is up for subscribers. It reads to me like a typo, but maybe it's not on one of the 3x4 cards Ali says "Give Fun" is on there twice as we really want to make sure we're giving fun. link2017-11-12 by Ann Tomaschik, on Flickr The add-ons barely relate to Give and for the first month since they've been offered I'm not getting any.

I like this month's kit. The embellishments are different than usual and the add-ons are a nice compliment in my opinion. I like them more than I have the past few months but I can see where others might agree.

OK, I will bite. The duplication for emphasis technique is a recognized one in marketing (etc: more savvy peas will probably advise) BUT then surely you should space out its occurrence evenly or at least thoughtfully? You shouldn't lazily stick two iterations close together at the end- that just screams "I couldn't be bothered to think up one more item/ time to go live my fabulous life now/ proofreading scrapbooking products is so 2010..." Or, given the umbrella company this brand falls under, all of the above?

I agree it was a mistake that she tried to excuse, but I like the kit this month. It seems to be a good value with a variety of embellishments. I’m not sure how to use the large rubber tag tho, but it does look neat! I also picked up the add on gold foil tags for my December daily. They clearly don’t go with this kit, but I appreciate the opportunity to get an exclusive December daily product as a subscriber so I think it was a good move.

At first glance (note I have 20/10 vision), the emphasized word in the loopy bold font looks like "glue." I mistook the image for an excerpt of an ode to scrapbooking page giving thanks for glue (glue love, glue joy, glue fun x2)!

I had to read the post to know what it said. I'm glad I'm not the only one! Really, that font makes it looks a lot like glue

I also hate the hyphenation in this. It’s just plain lazy. There are enough short words to rearrange where you don’t have awkward hyphenated words. Seriously. Undi-vided may be a valid hyphenation but it looks awkward as fuck.

If there was any phrase on this card not to divide it would be "glue undivided attention" !! Yeah, all I see from looking at the small image is glue. Glue to our- selves. Glue flow- ers. (really? Flow. Ers. ) Glue fun. The hyphens are as annoying to me as the awkwardly divided text that has been so fashionable on filler cards lately. If I see another things saying Ho Me I will scream.

LOL joblackford I agree about the annoying trend of dividing words where they shouldn't be. I just can't bring myself to use those filler type cards.

Also saw "glue" and find the divided "undi-vided" funny as hell. Probably not what was intended.

This reminded me of a recent conversation with a friend, which made me giggle. Her daughter, a pre-med student with a minor in psychology, is documenting her college experience via pocket scrapping. One day out of the blue she complained to her mom about the split word trend & declared she'll never use a HO / ME card because she didn't want to risk it interpreted as a subliminal statement about herself.

I LOLed when I first saw that "undivided" was one of the divided words. So ironic. I didn't see it as glue at first, but now I do!!

I can't with how they split undivided. There are rules to splitting words at the end of a line (and the golden one is that you ought to avoid doing it if you have enough space to make your text fit the full format). One of them is that prefixes and suffixes are natural divisions when splitting. It thus ought to have been: un-divided. As it makes sense. Sort of as lasteve1 pointed out. Ugh, don't trust the Inked team with words, Inked brands! They will mess it up. I will not translate what my SO said about their insistance we should "give fun."

ITA on the trend of dividing words awkwardly. I’m ok with: De Cem Ber
and
Re Mem Ber
becasue they are divided along syllables, and especially when it is stylized as a design element. But Ho-me and other examples given are annoying. Makes me think of Homey D. Clown, and Homey don’t play that!

Other than the issues with card discussed above (and I do like it as a design element, just not the hyphens and tepeat of fun), I really like this kit. I’ve been critical of Ali lately for phoning it in and reusing so many designs, but I think she nailed it this month. I LOVE the color scheme (seasonally appropriate and great colors - no pink!), the variety of embellishments, and the value seems better than recently. I actually re-subbed M2M for this kit (just have to remember to cancel!).

Imma be a graphic designer snob here and say that card is bloody awful. Designed by someone who can operate the programs but doesn’t know how or is too lazy to design a good piece of communication. Style but no substance.
Give looks like glue, the hyphenation is just beyond ridiculous and makes the card difficult to read and they didn’t bother to space out the two ‘funs’.
Nice try but try harder thanks 👍 It’s not hard! Proof read your stuff. Imagine how your end user is going to see and percieve it.

You guys are such a blessing to me and my No Spend November. I thought the colors of the new story kit were so pretty but all the criticism talked me out of spending $25. THANK YOU

I think the new story kit does look better than most of the other recent story kits, and I do like the color. But the messed up spelling would be a big no for me. I swear, they get most of their shit together but then still drop the ball.
In other Ali news, I guess she is getting married soon. I read where she would be taking a 'family moon'. As a remarried momma, I think this is nice. So often kids get left behind when their parents get married that its nice to see them being included. I hope all the kids are included and not just his or hers.

I hope all the kids are included and not just his or hers. Maybe Familymoons are nicer with kids, but when DH and I got married in 2015 in a foreign country where we were living at the time, we thought it'd be nice to invite all immediate family (siblings and parents) to go on a Familymoon post-wedding. We were late twenties/early thirties. Sounded great - Come to our wedding, and we'll all go away afterwards for 10 days, how lovely to spend the time bonding together as new families! It was the day after our wedding (mistake), his family were super jetlagged due to getting in at the last minute (mistake), we went to a different country (mistake, because no one would agree /where/ till about two weeks prior to the wedding and we were already so stressed with the wedding planning by ourselves), planned completely by us (mistake, because everyone thought it'd be easier for us to do since we were living in the same timezone) and everything was drama-causing, from getting taxis (my family wanted to, his didn't) to the hotels we stayed at (my family wanted to relax, his wanted to budget out), to the activities (his wanted camping in the gorge, mine wanted city time), to the hurricane that came through and forced us all into two rooms for an evening. Add to that, tension between DH and his father, his mum & his brother...my family actually kept me sane, and didn't ever complain (unusual for them!) and went along with everything just to make our trip easier. In the end, travelling with his parents, his brother, my sister and my parents is something I'd never do again, no one really had a good time, and DH and I ended up barely spending any time together!! Sincerely hoping Ali's familymoon is nicer than ours . We've been on countless trips since, so now its sort of a funny story (only in our household mind, both other households consider it to be the worst holiday they ever took!). Ah well, live and learn!! XD

On the topic of crimes against typography, I was at Starbucks today and saw a really nice graphic on a mug but it took me longer than it should've to make sense of the word on it:
FLOU RISH
