Yeah, Iâm tired of crafty people (âcelebrityâ or not) telling me how I should live my life. I want inspiration for making scrappy things, and story inspo is good too as long as it isnât preachy (and I mean preachy about religion, or anti-religion, or what to eat, or not eat, or whether or not to be minimalist, or whatever the latest hot topic is, etc.). I totally agree. BUT...the problem is they have thousands of gullible enablers who hang on their every word of advice and respond w/"so insigntful", "ooh, that's really inspiring", etc. Until Instagram, I never knew just how many inane, gullible, sheep there were in the world. I had a vague idea, but seeing them day in and day out fawning over AE or BH or AT or the other scrap "celebs" is really truly sad. I want to tell the enablers - THEY ARE NO MORE GURU THAN YOU ARE, but your puffing up is making them think they are GURUS!!! YES!!!!!!

This may be misdirected annoyance, but I'm tired of scrapbooking "celebs" playing wanna be preacher or therapist. I get providing inspiration and I hope this is a "how to tell" the story, not a life coach thing. I'm sure it's my frustration with branding from BH that is causing me to be so cynical, but everything is so pseudo therapy, it's just odd to me. I'm all for telling the difficult stories, so I hope it is a class on a method to get to those stories. I'm not sure I'm explaining this correctly. Yup, this is the biggest obstacle for me with Ali. Everything is "intentional" or "self-care". It all feels so woo-woo, self-help to me. Every time I see Bene Brown mentioned, I think of the episode of Sex in the City when Charlotte took Carrie to the motivational speaker who just kept vomiting self-help speak, without helping. Eventually they all start to sound like an old time traveling medicine show or a really tacky infomercial. Every year when One Little Word crops up, I remember all the examples I looked at online of people just regurgitating their word with some self help phrases. Obviously, this is not for me. Yes! I know that some love olw, but it was so not for me either.
And Brene Brown, oh my goodness. I've watched/listened to a few of her things. Midway through I'm always like, has she actually said anything yet? lol. Really strange and pointless.

Brené Brown just blabs on to say nothing. And she's got an arrogant streak that rubbed me the wrong way. She's all about being authentic and honest and vulnerable but then started her Netflix special by recounting the anecdote of people making small talk on planes and how she doesn't like it so when someone asks her what she does, she replies that she studies shame to shut them up (and then got the audience to laugh at her little technique). It was smugness galore and quite far away from whatever "be good, be open, be vulnerable" message she preaches. Better to say you're not into small talk than shame someone into no longer talking to you if you're trying to be authentic, right? Or maybe the authenticity here is that she's a bit of bitch deep down. I don't know. Whatever she was preaching wasn't for me.

Coming up next, Inked-branded jade yoni eggs! (for anyone who doesn't get the reference, X)

I almost never initiate small talk with other passengers on a plane.

Itâs interesting how folks can have such different perspectives. I find Berne Brownâs work incredibly helpful & meaningful. Of course I am also a therapist, so maybe that skews my way of reading/hearing her work? And Brene Brown, oh my goodness. I've watched/listened to a few of her things. Thanks for sharing. I got last year's DD journal and planner with the code. If you want to take one of her pricier classes, this would be a good code to use for Type, Hybrid, or Lens of Joy.

The code is only good if you are buying one item though. So if you are buying a physical item you canât add more stuff to your order to get free shipping. :PThanks for nothing Ali!

There is so much gushing and praising about Brene Brown on various social media, so I got one her books from the library recently. I didn't even make it through the first chapter. It was all whining and complaints about her childhood and life in general.
I expected "wow, this is insightful and thought provoking" and as I was reading, I thinking >>wtf?, one big book of complaints!" I don't get all the hype about her books.
I have read many, many, many self help books, self help websites and followed several social media instagrams in regards to positivity and self help inspiration...over the years. I thought Brene's book was one of the worst I've ever attempted to read.

I am sure that is a glitch they didnât anticipate. I donât know why I even try over there. I did email them, just to see what they would say.

I did email them, just to see what they would say. Â I didn't even think of the initial price as the cause for my free shipping, as I though free shipping only kicks in at $75 on her site. Either way, I'm glad I went with the sort everything from high to low prices and choose from there! đ

Still ticks me off you canât have more then one item in the cart to use the coupon.

I was going to check them out in person before I decided how I was going to use them. I'll let you know if I decide not to use the planner, but I'm not sure if it will arrive before I leave next week to go out of town for 2 or 3 weeks.

I have to give high marks for Ali's CS! USPS lost a package they marked delivered and they replaced it. My husband hasn't been as lucky with his missing package from a day later. Our mailboxes are locked so they couldn't have easily been stolen and I got the mail about 20 minutes after said delivery and another package for me was in it. So stolen is very unlikely.
The replacement arrived today and I like the Play kit more in person then I did online. Not as usable for sports viewing as I had hoped before reveal, but I can see using a bunch of it. The wood veneer addon is my favorite though. I'm going to use all of those I'm sure. The SBTM was meh but I'm kinda over it, but want to finish out the year so my album will be similar.

If you add all the items up, they are $43. The kit is $44.99.
