I think the white folio is beautiful and a nice addition. But there’s not a single thing about any of the kits I find appealing.

I don’t need a single thing but I really like the main kit. The felt butterflies are great, and for once I actually like the wood veneer phrases. Love the vellum cards...wish it wasn’t her handwriting. Not sure about that cream. It looks nice in the pics but sometimes it’s difficult to use irl. I rarely use the entire kit for OLW alone so I could just eliminate the cream stuff. I also love the white folio. I was thinking of downsizing from an album this year just for a change, but I’m nervous I won’t like it or I would run out of room. Maybe once I hear more about the hosts I can decide.
Not really interested in any of the stamps. I wish there was a stamp with the prompts from the cards so I could just stamp them in a TN. I haven’t officially compared but the mini kit looks a little fuller....everything looks recycled. Still would not get it. I cannot stand the blob chipboard shapes lol.

Did the January Stories by the Month kit really sell out in 3 hours yesterday? I want to start with January for 2021 and so I signed in at 9:30am yesterday Central time and it wasn't updated yet. Checked again around 9:45am. Then I had to get ready and go to church. I checked again at 1:00pm when I got done with lunch and it was sold out already. Really? I signed up on the waiting list anyway, hoping that it was still set to December and hadn't fully updated yet and that I can still get January. I don't really want to start my 2021 Project Lift book with February. Oh well. I feel like this sells out every January (I could be wrong). I guess it's like the gym in January....everyone has good intentions for the new year lol.

Did everyone catch the big price increase for the class in her block post? Early bird price is $45.

Did everyone catch the big price increase for the class in her block post? Early bird price is $45. Yes. I'm really excited about the change and the guest hosts. The price increase is kind of a bummer, but I'm guessing she has to pay those people for their content? ETA: I do wonder if this will be the new norm for this class or just a 10 year special event type change?

I’m actually ok with the class cost - you get the main kit included (I think this is how it’s always been, but I could be wrong).

Overall I think Ali over prices her stuff. Right now, I think I can understand why she had to jump the cost.

That way it will all have the same feel.

ETA: I do wonder if this will be the new norm for this class or just a 10 year special event type change? oooof! I was considering signing up just because I liked the look of all the guest hosts, but I'm not sure it's worth $45 to me, with or without product (which I haven't even looked at). I know it's not a lot spread over a year, and I can afford it, but I'm pretty sure there are better things I can do with $45. I'm sure that she is paying all those folks for their contributions. I heard through the grapevine that AE's is one of the rare DTs where you actually get paid money, not just product, as well as not having strict requirements for sharing projects. So I believe she's a good employer and is compensating these folks fairly, as she should. Maybe I just convinced myself that spending money with her is actually a "better thing"

Well fiddlesticks. Ali chose the same word I did. Heart.
She also posted an apology about the price increase on FB.

FWIW, I did buy the kit and class this morning and was surprised with a 10% off coupon to apply at checkout.

I'm still waffling on mine - it's my first year doing it in any formal way and my perfectionist heart is trying to get it "just right." I didn't see the apology but that's super interesting!

2021 is not the year for price increases. Just going to put that out there. The brands I work with are really doing their best to halt any price increases for the next 12 months. They're mostly indie, niche brands so it's not as though they can rely on some mother company to negotiate a trade deal that will positively impact them.
Kind of disappointing to read this OLW news and considering how long the pandemic has been going on, there really is not much of an excuse for it. I understand the AE fans will wave the increase away and try to privilege-splain this to me or others who raise an eyebrow at it but it's not the right moment for such a move, especially considering how much it's gone up.
Seriously, whose income went up in the last year besides giants like Amazon? I'm going to file this increase under "not cool". I'm at the point of not caring about saying things with diplomacy or th "care and understanding" bullshit. This is just more whacking away at her poor base and absolutely on par with the price increases for the AE brand over the past few years. That apology is bullshit. "Sorry I didn't let you know earlier the price was going up by a pretty significant percentage! Ok, bye now."

Well, I was considering taking the class for the first time. That price though at Christmas time? Not happening. Unexpected bills and expected bills coming sooner than expected (like why am I paying for my daughter’s 8th grade trip while she’s in seventh grade and it’s not scheduled until 2022??) puts this securely out of my price range. Like so many other things, this will just have to wait. Has she announced who her guest instructors are?

"Sorry I didn't let you know earlier the price was going up by a pretty significant percentage! Ok, bye now." I agree with you...this wasn't the year. I am torn, though. Because I do think the contributors deserve to be compensated. Looking over her contributors, I do see she has gone out of her way to include creators that arent white, so thats a positive. We all know Ali isn't about to give up her share. But at the end of the day, the way it was handled was crap. She knew the cost was going up and her team did as well. She should have said something. I also think Ali puts more value on the '10 years of OLW' than most do. I think I am going to do my own thing this year. I have the digitals from the many previous years that I can recolor and print. I don't need a main kit with cream + poop brown, nor do I need an album that will break apart. I like using my Felicity Jane kits for my OLW practice, so I am pretty sure I am just going to be a one-man band and do my own thing. Edited to add: If there are others that end up doing their own thing, we could start a post monthly or have a PM and chat or something like that, to keep us motivated.

Has she announced who her guest instructors are? Yes, there was a blog post introducing them. Krystal Idunate and Victoria Marie Calvin are the two who caught my attention. I don’t totallllllly jive with their scrapbook styles, but they are two people I really enjoy listening to, especially Victoria.

I agree the quality of that blue chipboard piece is very bad. The fact that half of the N and half of the R in “new year” are missing. I wouldn’t use it
