Fun thread! I enjoy reading the stories and meanings behind people's names. I wanted a name that would make it obvious that I was from Australia. I'm not really sure why, I think one of the reasons was because we spell a lot of words differently and I didn't want people to think I was just a bad speller! ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/TKS2q_7siLiFtq0xPQvx.jpg) Also because if I asked a question about something that I didn't understand I didn't want to have to explain in every post that I was from another country. I actually wanted True Blue but that was already taken (but never used) on the old board. Then I thought I'd use Dinky Di but then people would think my name was Di / Diane. [True Blue and Dinky Di are terms used here to say that you are a proud and true Asutralian. Not that any non-Aussies would have known that haha!] I really don't like my Pea name and wish I'd chosen something else. But oh well. my bestest buddy calls me Linda Lou and I think it's cute. My mum calls me Megie-Lou. I should change my name to that and we could be Pea Name twins!

The obvious. My youngest was just born when I joined up on the old site to (gasp) order scrap supplies and comment on the gallery while up in the middle of the night nursing. And at the time Ali Edwards was an unknown named mama2simon and I gravitated to her early style. I still remember her writing about her first posted layout, and then using the same flower stamp on multiple layouts and saying she only had one... how times change.

Mine is my name. It's always available when I need to sign up for things. I know I should care that it is unusual and searchable on the 'net but I apparently don't. I do have another one I used on a fertility message board that I could probably use here, but that would involve reintroducing myself with the new name and that just sounds too hard right now.... Also.... Am I the only one who noticed Katniss became a throbbing member and has the perfect avatar to go with that status?? ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/thumbnailer/kCmZfAJjLQwHbuUKsxbr.png) Update: Wow, that was easy. I was alyca, and now am PNWmom. I live in Seattle. I have a baby. She changed my life. I'm PNWRN12 elsewhere, but I think the baby trumps the profession and Seahawks love, so I'm sticking with PNWmom for now.

before I became a 911 disaptcher, I was a headstart teacher for almost 20 years. I loved that job and the kids loved me...they all called me "teaherlisa, teacherlisa" even all my teacher friends called me that and some of my friends that weren't teachers too lol. if I did not answer my own children the first time when they said mom...sometimes THEY would call me teacherlisa to try to get my attention lol. When I became a pea I was still teaching so I chose that. Now, it is my online name everywhere and brings back fond memories so I keep it.

"Bunnyhug" is a word unique to the province I still think of as home--it's what we call a hooded sweatshirt (or we did when I was growing up there--the youngsters don't use it as much anymore!). Although I've spent the last 16 years in a different province, I still call my kids' hoodies "bunnyhugs" because it makes me happy ... and them crazy 😉 I was previously called "Prairie Sentinel", which is what our grain elevators were sometimes called. My dad was an elevator agent for a grain company, and I love them as a memory of my childhood, and as a symbol of a past that's disappearing --it was another nod to my prairie heritage, but sounds vaguely threatening or political or something if you don't know the real meaning, so bunnyhug seemed like a friendlier option!

I like the color pink. I get teased all the time, especially by my boys, that everything I own is pink. Not quite true!! I wear/have a lot of black/grey/white to go with pink (around the house as well as my wardrobe). Pink makes me 😊

Zella isn't a nickname I use often, but it is the last five letters of my first name. What is an SLP? Patter , what has it been like living with your name? Is it from "the pitterpatter of tiny feet?" Gennifer , I remember you from the old pod but also from scrappy publications. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my name. I have been SO thankful no one else has it. BUT my sister texted me last weekend about a toy at Target named Patter Peacock. And it's personality is supposedly: chatty, confident, and loves to encourage others. EEEK. Have they been stalking me? That is pretty much me. But Pitter Patter of tiny feet is also quite appropriate. I wore a women's 4 1/2 until my girls were born. Now I have advanced to a size 5 or little girls size 3. Also, the chatty part works well because I love to teach others. I love to talk in front of large audiences. When I have that opportunity to teach (and help others grow), I LOVE it. My next one will be in November, and I can't wait. I don't get nervous; I find it fun. BUT what I don't like is I get "Mr. Peter C." On mail a lot. People can never believe it's my name or that they misheard something. A lot of times they think it's short for Patricia or something. Nope. Just Patter. That's me, and I love it. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

On the old board I was "alwaysdieting" but another pea created a thread saying she found it offensive. So when I migrated here I used the name of the subdivision I lived in at the time and my street address. That was two moves ago but I remember it as a fun time so I've kept it. In high school, the place by school where we went to smoke pot was called the grove. I've heard others that also had a spot called the grove. That combined with the 420, had me thinking you were a pothead.

Mine is just the initials of the people in my little nuclear family. compwalla - I've always wondered how you got your name, if you care to share. (And I've been thinking of you and hoping you are well!) There is a John Irving book called Son of the Circus. It is set in India. In that book there are people called things like taxiwalla, for the taxi driver. In my mind that is where compwalla comes from, she is a computer guru. I'm probably wrong, but it does amuse me to look at the pea names and think about how they came to be.

I think it's such fun to have a truly unique name (mine isn't, but really damn close; I am the only person with my first and last name combo in the world, I do know that; my last name is very rare). But I still want to know where the name came from? I do think it's adorable and what fun! My younger daughter has feet the same size as you. Also tiny hands. I think her ring size is 3.5.

My name is Holly. When I was little, my 3 uncles called me Holly Molly as a nickname. One of my uncles still calls me that sometimes. I started using it as an email address and user name after my favorite uncle died in 1997.

I love reading the reasons for all the names.
Chinagirl is a song title from one of my favourite bands. When I joined the original 2peas someone already had that name so I added the 828 to the end. There's no meaning to the numbers - they were randomly generated by another website where the Chinagirl name was already in use. I thought about dropping the numbers when we moved over here but figured I would be easier to "recognise" if I kept the same username and avatar.
