More sophisticated and mature? So that makes those asking for variety in color...what then...uncultured and immature? I don't think that's what she meant, but if loving rainbow colors is wrong, I don't want to be right.

If it can be taken wrong...I will find a way! 😒 Eta: it sucks to be my husband today as a result of this. Poor guy.

nicolep I hate that feeling! I'm glad you're happy with the CS reply. kellypurkey Thank you again for taking the time to post here. I'm sure it'd be easier for us to utilize the "puke green" if we saw more of your PL pages using it. /cough /cough I third and fourth or fifth the comment about seeing more of your PL pages using the green color kellypurkey. I would love a really easy way, even if its just IG, to be able to search for your DT layouts for a specific month. Seeing how a DT is using a product is my no 1 reason for purchasing the product and gives me so much inspiration, and I know this is lazy, but I hate that I have to look all over for that inspiration. It's one of the things that SC does pretty well - in terms that I can come to their site and see their DT pages for a specific kit. I would love you to do that too, on your website, but if you can't, having at least an IG tag would help.

Another fan of the “neutral” green. Seems like I use up those cards first. As Dawn said, it’s impossible to make us all happy.

I actually like Kelly Purkey’s palette. To me, it’s more modern, sophisticated and mature. There are plenty of other options that provide sweet, primary and “trendy”. The color schemes of KP’s Kits offer a different option and I appreciate the option. I don't think any of us are saying that we hate all of her colors every time, I just feel like there's been a ton of the "neutral" green (as she calls it). Spring is almost here for me and I'm ready for bright bright bright. I totally understand not everyone feeling that way though. It's impossible to make us all happy. I agree, over all I love the color palette. I love a nice dark green, I just think the one used in the kits every month is just drab. I would love to see it with a bit more red in it, and absolutely in the spring and summer I would like to see a nice bright lime green. And for what it is worth, I live in the same town as KP and I still think that particular green is over done.

I love her use of red, peachy colors, when blue pops up in the kit, and especially the teals, so overall I do like the color palette too. Even the green is nice in moderation, I just especially don't like when it's paired with, say, pink in the latest kit. I grew up in Portland and go back every year, and that color does not remind me of home either. I think more of a forest green would be really nice to see, and would work even better with outside pictures.

Been following this thread. It was quite nice of Kelly P to respond here, and I know she has posted here before. It's good to know that a designer is paying attention to what scrapbookers are saying and thinking about her product. That counts a lot as far as I am concerned. I like the pea green, and I've used it in my books.
But I am curious, maybe I just missed it. Did she address the cut off PL card issue? Was it an issue or was it intentional? Inquiring minds (well, mine does!) want to know.

“Sophisticated and mature” scrapbooking actually offended someone?
I rarely scrapbook about children, Disney trips, or other subjects marketed towards motherhood, childhood and the life I lived in my 20’s and 30’s.
I am over 50 years old. I am Black. I live in the 4th largest city in the country. I work for a large corporation. Part of my job is to plan, facilitate and support large and small events in US and international locations. I represent my company to a diverse group of executives, government officials, clients, suppliers, etc.
My social life is mostly adult oriented events — art shows; restaurant openings and events; professional sporting events, live music — hip hop, jazz, Motown, disco.
I am a MATURE, PROFESSIONAL, URBAN Black Woman. A part of my life takes place in settings that are sophisticated, elegant culturally diverse. My social peers are late 40’s to 60+ (In other words —mature).
I enjoy this stage of my life and I am attracted to colors that represent me, my life and the colors of MY WORLD. I wear and am attracted to LOTS of black, crisp tailored shirts (mostly white) and jeans. I mix in colors like khaki, olive green and burnt orange. I don’t like pastels or florals. I like skyscrapers, designer handbags and Drake.
I spoke to MY preferences and my life. If you took my words and aimed them negatively at yourself— that was all your doing.
Scrapbooking is for everyone. Many products in the market are not. Why are you throwing shade at my preferences and lifestyle?

I just subscribed to the TN kit- I love the direction KP is going, especially with Tina joining her. I am itching to get back to scrapbooking...not sure if it will be a TN or traditional layouts but either way I knew I wanted to subscribe.

I hear where you are coming from. I'm also Black with a non kids oriented lifestyle, but honestly if I had kids I still don't think I would be attracted to the trendy, pinky, Disney- esque. That's just not me. One of the big reasons I'm having a hard time with scrap stuff that is coming out is the tilt towards more of the frou frou instead of cutting edge. Man I miss 2008.

Can someone explain to me the scrapbooking-Disney connection? Not that there's anything wrong with going to Disney world but I don't understand why it seems like so many scrapbookers on IG and YT also are Disney obsessed. I don't know anyone in my regular life who goes there.

I do love the Disney themed lines coming out from Echo Park (brighter than the Say Cheese lines from SS), but I don't understand why everyone seems obsessed with Disney considering it wasn't a 'thing' in 2011 when I picked up the hobby. I'd love it even if I didn't have kids (and would go more frequently because it would be much less expensive) because I enjoy Disney and it has nothing to do with scrapbooking...but you're right, Disney does seem to be turning into a thing in the scrapbook world!

A little too much yellow for my tastes (I *hate* yellow with a burning passion), so I'm excited to see the reverse side of the cards. I am so glad KP offers different colorways on the back side of the cards!!

I think for a lot of people a week at Disney is a super scrap moment because it represents so many things: They saved to get there, surprised the kids, met a million different characters, got to eat a whole bunch of different new foods.....the list goes on. I get it, and when you are talking mass market that is what appeals to them. Not necessarily random people reading on the subway for example (more my style but not the masses).

I love DL and WDW and go with and without kids and really enjoy scrapbooking the trips, but I rarely use the Disney themed products. All the Disney themed products are black, red and cream or white which doesn’t match any of the pictures I take. Why would I use those colors for pictures of the castle, fantasyland pictures, space mountain photos, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, etc, etc? The only photo that I have taken at DL that matches those colors is when you meet Mickey in his house at DL, in the California park the Being Vista street scenes of the Trolley and Oswald pictures. For the most part those colors may be classic Disney, but they certainly don’t match the parks. When I scrap the Disney photos I try to find papers that match the photos, not the Disney lines. It it must be popular though, because people keep on buying it. I do think Disney is a thing for scrapbooking because it might be the only thing some people scrapbook. I have a friend who asked me to help her scrapbook her Disney trip because she had never scrapbooked before but wanted to document the trip. Trust me, as crowded as the parks are now during off season there are a hell of a lot of people who visit the parks. I think it might be a gateway into scrapbooking for some people, although it wasn’t for my friend, it was the only scrapbook she made, but she loves her book.

Good point about the Disney thing mary , although I do know people in real life that go to Disney World frequently, but I live in New York and Florida is a common vacation destination. I also grew up in California and people talked about and went to Disneyland a lot. So it might have to do with where you live and what a common vacation place is? I think @skellinton also makes some good points about why there are so many products. I definitely see the licensed product lines in Michaels, etc., as a "gateway" to scrapbooking... I do think a lot of people start the hobby because they have a specific event they want to scrapbook. I would think that a wedding or birth of a child would be the #1 event, but after those two I do think that vacations would be next. I think Disney is a common vacation (outside of visiting relatives) that most people could relate to because even though it's expensive, it's not as expensive or difficult to plan as a visit to a foreign country (which I would prefer to Disney, but I can definitely see why others wouldn't...especially with children). If I was going to scrapbook a Disney trip though I wouldn't use the licensed products because that's not my style and I wouldn't support the "Disney-style" products from SC or KP on moral grounds (they are clearly violating/at least tiptoeing around copyright laws).

Kelly did start a blog just for the shop where the design team shares what they made with each shop release. Its a great resources to see the projects all in one place. The Design Team also uses the hashtag KellyPurkeyShop when we share projects too. I hope that helps. Heres a link to the blog www.kellypurkeyshop.blog
