2015 was my first December Project. I purchased Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas class and loosely followed that for prompts. I never had any desire to do a December project because I am in love with 12x12 albums and didn't want to do one at that size.
Well, 2015 rolls around and it's our first year in California and I wanted to document it in some way. So, enter Journal Your Christmas. I figured it would be the only year I'd ever do it. I document Dec 1-31.
Enter 2016 and I realize it may be the last year our son is home for Christmas. He is a Marine now. So, two weeks into December I am ordering what I can find and get something going. I only Document Dec 1-25.
This year, I ordered my Christmas supplies in September. I am also using my stash.
This is how I do it:
Put various page protectors in the album. No order, no thought process.
Grab a basket and organize papers, embellishments, washi, etc. I work well from a larger basket I can flip through and just browse my Christmas supplies that I've pulled for the project.
Then, I just go at it. I don't pre-plan anything. Not all days have pictures. Not all days have stories. Sometimes it's just pretty Christmas stuff.
I am super impressed with the level of planning that some of you do! I might try to plan a little bit more this year and see if that smooths out my process. I get crazy messy because I don't have a plan...and then have to clean up every few days because of it. And that makes me not want to go in and scrap.

This is exactly how I do it, down to having pages that are just pretty themed supplies when I don't have any photos. I love how my albums turn out. The amount of pre-planning that others do is enviable but I just can't make it work for me. The year I made base pages prior to the month is the album I like least out of all my DD albums.

I'm torn in how to do this (have never done one before).
I have an old CM 12x12 holiday album. I have a red 6x8 album - it has two horizontal 4x6 slots and 2 vertical 1x4 (?) slots. Neither seem right - one too big, one too small. I think the page protectors in the small album would be really hard to work it (I got it at TM on sale a while ago). I think I'd like no page protectors at all?
Does anyone do it in a middle size that they like and w/o page protectors?

I’ve just recently got back into scrapbooking, after not doing it since I was a teenager, via pocket-style (but not PL because it’s both hard to find and expensive here and I’m a bit of a cheap skate haha). This year I’m going to be attempting a December Daily as my first real project, which may be a little ambitious but we’ll see how it goes. I’ll be using the Simple Stories Very Merry Album and a whole lot of the Cinnamon Sugar line from Rosie’s Studio (errr...I don’t know if this brand is available outside NZ or not? I’ve never seen it mentioned online) that I bought way too much of in post-Xmas sales last year. I have a Pinterest board here - pin.it/Bownpsn - but it’s all my Christmas stuff not just DD Anyway, I’ve joined the board for some inspiration and so I can talk to people who don’t look at me like I’m odd when I talk about papers and die cuts!

Don't be envious. For me, I know if I *don't* preplan then it won't get done or it won't get finished. My goal is to have it done at the end of December. If it isn't it will just sit there, looking at me forever.

If I remember I will snap a photo today. SaveSave

This is my 9th year doing this project, it is my favorite project each year. Christmas is my favorite Holiday and I have enough supplies to last my lifetime. But I buy more each year. I purchased Carta Bella A Very Merry Christmas line this year and I ordered quite a bit from Ali this year. I really love looking for vintage items to add to my album also. I will decorate my album, make an opening page, print a calendar from Marie Lottermoser, and cut some 2x2 paper for those pockets all before the 1st of December. I try to find sometime each day in December to work on my album but that doesn't always happen so when I do have free time I will play catch up then. I am usually finished with my album before January.

I just downloaded several card files from InACreativeBubble's set and sent a test print of the 3 x 8 cards to Office Depot and FedEx to see which one I like the best. I did a transparency print too! Thankfully have a lot of errands today so I can hit both these places. I tried Fedex's "Ultra bright white" card stock and their laser 80b. I'll let you know what I think.

It's just right for one 4 by 6 photo, some journaling, pattern paper and an embellishment per page. That being said I have yet to finish either year I made one (mostly missing photos...I hate ordering photos...).

Does anyone do it in a middle size that they like and w/o page protectors? I feel like I've seen quite a few 8x8 albums without PPs over the years. Perhaps not DD but JYC? I still remember Jamie Pate's 8x8 DD album (2014). It seemed like a good compromise as she still managed to use 8x8 PPs here and there to insert 4x4 photo mosaics.

Well, I have all of my winter-themed stuff in an Iris box that I pull out every year. I ordered an album and a few mini kits from the AE DD preorder this year. Did I need to? Of course not. But I will certainly have all the supplies a person could need.
I'm working on an October album now, so I won't get around to prepping this until that is finished.

Thankfully have a lot of errands today so I can hit both these places. I tried Fedex's "Ultra bright white" card stock and their laser 80b. I'll let you know what I think. I am definitely interested in hearing your review. I have only used Office Depot before - I used the 110 lb weight. SaveSaveSo here's the scoop - I printed one of Geralyn's 3 x 8 pdfs on the "Gloss Cover premium white 80lb" for Office Depot- the paper is just so slightly lighter than the Fedex Office ones and is a tiny glossier. The color is more solid than with both FedEx copies - noticeable when holding them side by side. I think for journal cards, you'd need to use a non-smearing slick writer or be really careful with gel pen ink on it - I'll try a couple different inks to see. I'm guessing the 110lb standard white card stock would eliminate that issue. Oh - the printed ink is just ever so slightly raised as well, giving it an embossed kinda feel on this paper. Here the standard paper is 65cents and the glossy was 79cents. Very pleased. That makes them about $1.70 per 3 x 8 card if you add printing with downloading (4.50 divided by 3 cards.) The FedEx office copies, unfortunately, they did not label them separately, and just put them in the same bag (duh they were the same print, just on different paper...sorry I have intolerance to idiocy where it's someone's job to know better.) Based on the cashier's guess, the UltraBrightWhite is a slightly bluer white and the 80lb is just a touch warmer white, but both are just white to the naked eye. They were each $1.24 a copy. The exciting thing is how cool the transparency page came out. $1.99 but really cool. Again, much nicer quality to the paper than the usual very dull card stock that have come in the DD kits (noted when I went through my leftovers from previous kits last night.) So to summarize, I would order from Office Depot due to cost again, and maybe try the 110lb card stock for journaling cards. They have transparencies for $1.09 and it would be worth it to print one or two 6 x 8 images that I really like that way. I uploaded both images online and they were ready within a couple hours at both shops - Office Depot has easier to use software and you don't have to create an account to put an order in. Really easy, and satisfied my urge to have something new for DD in my hands - really makes me lean towards digital downloads and printing this way over ordering cards. SaveSave

For my album, I technically make a Holidays mini album instead of an actual December Daily. Instead of having pictures for every day in December, I make an album with any pictures I took throughout the holiday season. It starts in mid-late November. That’s when we put our decorations up, I get my first Starbucks “red cup”, stores have cute festive displays that I can’t resist taking pictures of, etc. I usually go through New Year’s Eve. Some days I have no pictures, some days I have pictures from multiple events. I put my pictures in the album in chronological order. I like to use a 6x8 album with the bigger rings since I use so many pictures. I do a mix of pocket pages, layouts on 6x8 paper, enlarged pictures hole punched, and stuck in the album, tags, envelopes & misc items hole punched and stuck in the album. I like the variety. I don’t do much pre-planning, but I love getting inspired by those who do. My pre-planning consists of ordering & gathering supplies, and thinking about if there are any specific pictures I want to make sure I get this year. I usually print a calendar from Marie Lottermoser. I set up my basket of supplies on my desk so I can enjoy looking at them, and admiring them😂. I make sure I have all of the basic supplies I need for the project (printer ink, adhesive, page protectors, etc.), and extra supplies that I like to use (blank tags, doilies, alphabet stickers, etc.). I kind of want to get another Raskog cart, and set it up with just my Christmas goodies, but I don’t know if I ever will. I actually don’t end up working on my album that much during December😬. I take the pictures, I journal in my planner every day to help jot my memory later, I watch videos & look at posts of the progress everyone else is making, and make notes of anything I’d like to try, I fill in the calendar from Marie every day, and I just enjoy the month. I know some people have to finish it in December, or they’ll never finish it. I actually don’t mind working on it throughout the rest of the winter, and picking it up again later in the fall when I’m getting excited for the upcoming holiday season. I hate unfinished projects so I’ll make sure to finish it once I start. There are years that I’ve never started, that I would eventually like to go back and make albums for, but I’m not too worried about. For this year I’m using the Simple Stories Christmas album. I’ve got some of their 2017 Christmas line, the Elle’s Studio kit, and I’ve ordered some misc. stuff from the December Daily preorder. I have enough supplies to make so many albums, but I just can’t resist the Christmas stuff! I would also like to purchase some journaling cards from In a Creative Bubble, especially the 3x8 ones.

Me right now: "5x7 is manageable. I can finish a 5x7. I am a repeat DD failure, let's keep it real here!" Me also right now: "But look at these nice large squarealbums! Ooooh. So pretty. So much space for pattern paper to breathe and be showcased. I mean, 8x8 is only an inch more in height..." Let the cognitive dissonance games begin!
