I scrap chronologically but also scrap a themed album a couple of times a year. I like to use 8x8 albums for long weekends away at the coast or camping. Those have been my favorite so far. I also have a couple of bigger vacation albums. Right now I'm working on my second 12x12 Disney album. I just wondered what themed albums other scrappers might be making that could give me some ideas?

The only themed albums I do are vacation (like you) & Christmas. I find those are the two subjects most likely to be looked at by my family or if company is over, so while I'm also a chrono scrapper, I do keep those separate.

--I do an album that is one page of Christmas each year with my Christmas newsletter opposite. They are all in one book. --I have a similar book that is one page of each birthday for sons and one page from Halloween and Easter when we used to do those. --I did a sports album for each sport my son played - some sports had more than one album Baseball has like 5 albums. I put his college baseball in his college album --I did a martial arts book for one son --I did JROTC and ROTC albums for my older son --I did school albums for each boy including college --I did my own school albums --I did an album of Germany and an album of Austria --I did 2 volumes of my years living in the UK and one album of the other countries I visited. --I did a Uruguay/Argentina album for my DH but I used pocket pages and I want to redo it --I did a travel album with a 2-4 page spread for various trips we took as a family --I did a portraits album with all the professional and school portraits we had over the years --I did 3 volumes of my Air force years --I am doing living history books now - have 3 volumes of Colonial photos --I started a favorite photos album that I never kept up with --I have everything to do a family pets album but haven't --I did a Disney album for our one trip there --I have several ongoing heritage albums that need work but can be looked at (just keep getting ore photos and info to add) --I do live action role play books for my older DS hobby - I have 4 of them and am so far behind I doubt I will catch up.
That may be it, at least for now. I also scrap current photos chronologically and even my theme albums are chronological.

Vacation only. We go on at least one every year, so we have as many vacation books as other books.

All of our albums are together and I've never made a theme album but I am going to make a wedding and honeymoon (We're camping) album. I have supplies all ready to go, just need pics. I'm super excited about starting.

I have Christmas in a separate album, have done a few vacation albums and the kids have their school albums, but really it just all goes into our family albums.

Every year I do a vacation album and a December Daily album. For my daughter I've done separate school, dance, prom and professional photos albums. I also did an album of my husband and I and a childhood album for him. Someday, I plan on making one of my childhood.

I guess in some ways all my albums are theme albums. I have a husband and rotating numbers of dogs - everyone has his or her own albums. There is overlap between my husband and our dogs, obviously, as they have all loved the socks off their "Daddy." Within those albums I scrap chronologically. I appear infrequently in these albums. I sometimes do a "me" album in the form of "a month in the life" theme. Those are actually fun, but often so personal I don't share them with anyone else. After we're gone and all our stuff winds up at a yard sale by some executor, somebody is going to know waaaaay more about me than they want!

December Daily, Halloween mini albums, a 25th anniversary album that I’m still working on and albums for three Disney trips that I haven’t even started yet. Everything else just goes in random books and I don’t work chronologically.

100 Things to Do Before I Die - Ornaments - the story behind all ornaments we've bought or been given since we started dating in 2005. 12x12 pocket album for vacation highlights - 2 page spread-ish for each trip 6x8 Disney trip from 2014
plus December albums starting in 2007 to present
I also made an 8x8 album of layouts when I was dating my husband and a 6x6 album pairing quotes with favorite photos from the early/mid 2000s that was the result of a layout swap way back in the day.

I have done the common ones... December daily, day in the life, and vacation minis. I also did an album of our summer at the lake house since I had so many more photos than made sense to include in my project life album. I also have a small binder style album that I add our family Christmas card to each year. I haven't done anything "special" with them, but it is with all of my minis. And this year I am planning doing a "holiday highlights" with my kids (using AE's kids kit).

Also have album of my favorite pics of dh.
friends...work, and 1 called, "things I think about "
Family reunions
Our Hometown Both of our hobbies is photography so we end up with a lot of miscellaneous pics that eventually will have a theme.

I started with a 8.5x11 themed album for all holidays and birthdays. As the years have progressed, the bigger ones have 1 or 2 of their own albums. I do almost every holiday and birthdays. When my kids were younger we went to a pumpkin walk and I did some 8x8 albums of that event. I now prefer to stick to 8.5x11.
We don't travel, so its those albums and a separate family album that's done with divided sheet protectors; that one is done very simple.

I don't do themed albums as a rule, although I do separate my layouts into albums by their respective topics. (I don't scrap chronologically, but I put the layouts into the albums more or less in chronological order):
My layouts are separated into these albums:
-- Our home and Family (us, our dogs and cats, our house, yard, plants, holidays, etc.)
-- Places we Go: Southwest (events, day trips, etc. around Arizona / New Mexico, etc.)
-- Places we Go: Midwest (things we do when we go to IL / WI to visit our families)
-- Me (an album that's random layouts of my hobbies, interests, childhood memories, etc.)
The only albums I'm doing that are really 'themed' with a beginning / end are the two 12x12 albums I'm using to scrap a 2-week trip we took to Hawaii. I want to do a themed album of Christmas ornaments we've purchased over the years-- I bought an ornament-shaped chipboard album for it at Michael's-- but I haven't gotten around to starting it yet.

I don't know if you would call mine theme albums. I scrap each set of facing pages as a unit, but not the whole album.
I do one album each season each year. And usually one for Christmas.
A vacation usually gets its own album. Some are full size; some are Sn@p albums.
Special events like family reunions get their own album.
I have made a baby album for all dgk's born since I took up this craft.
For my dgs's grad, I created an album by copying all the pages about him that are in my "regular" albums.

I scrap chronologically. Loosely.
I am working on 2016 so I may go back and forth within the year while I am scrapping.
Events that don't go in the albums: Disney Trips December Journal
I include Christmas in the chronological as well. Disney doesn't even get a mention..this elabums stand alone.

I do the usual vacation and Christmas/December Daily albums every year (along with my every day albums--one for each of my boys that is just LOs about them and then a Family album). One that might be considered a "theme" album would be My album--it's an 8.5x11 album with LOs that are just for me, about me, anything that really doesn't need to go in the Family album.

I consistently do a Dec daily album each year for Christmas and vacation albums for each of the trips I take.
Almost all the other albums I have are about one subject - my cats, heritage photos from one side of my family or the other, my childhood, or a yearly album (whether done in a month in review or PL weekly format). I scrap randomly but try to store chronologically.

I have a
December holidays (small size) for 5 or 6 years Halloween for DS 1 (8x8) Halloween for DS 2 (8x8) 2 School scrapbooks for each kid (pre school - 6th and 7th-12th) India - 2 scrapbooks Poland - 2 scrapbooks Europe - 2 scrapbooks (maybe 3 by the time I’m done) Dubai - probably 2 scrapbooks First year for each kid
Then my regular albums are: All about DS 1 (4 or 5 albums so far) All about DS 2 (2 albums so far) All about Us (2 albums so far)
Some are stored away at my inlaws house since we moved in 2011 out of the country. I can’t remember exactly what I have there)

For themed albums I have :
Disney - Multiple Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts One from a cruise my DS and I took with my Mom School my DS's photos from working at summer camp
I have attempted December Daily and failed miserably and will probably never try again. Great ideas for some different themed albumsin this thread. Thanks everyone.

my main albums are the chronological family albums
but beyond that?
My older two both have soccer albums
DS has a Boy Scout album
DD's have Girl Scout albums
I did a Wedding album for us and also a convalidation (religious ceremony) album for us
Trips - the amount of photos/layouts tends to determine if they go in a separate album or in the family album
I do separate albums for DS now he's in the Navy
I did do a Thanksgiving mini album a couple of years ago
My kids each have First Year albums

We've gone 2 years in a row and it really is quite impressive. I also want to do one that is just my ornaments (DH buys me a glass blown ornament every year). My mini albums were all themed.

made a new page for my "Things I want to Tell You" this morning. I remembered being thrilled to be able to go to a Van Cliburn concert at my college when I was a freshman. Any body remember him? I made a pocket to stick a mini album of some photos my mom took my first day at college when my parents drove me there and helped me move into the dorm. Thier 1962 Cevy impala is in 3 of the pictures!

Several years a company sponsored a contest for an album with the the theme "I never Thought I would" ( or something to that effect) I never entered the album but have added pages over the years.
The album has a page about seeing a glacier and another about seeing whales up close.

I’ve done them for events where I’ve taken a lot of photos. Usually these are mini albums. I also did one on how I spent my summer. I don’t necessarily dedicate a whole 12x12 album to something due to space constrains so I have some albums with multiple themes.

I started with a holidays album that includes my children's birthdays. It evolved into their own albums as pages were added. I like to put the albums out with the decorations or the month of the child's birthday in my living room. I have one album of short trips we've made, but I no longer travel.
