I have seen some attitude directed at people on the FB page so get where people complain about the CS (I can see where CD may get frustrated with people asking the same questions over and over, but if your job is customer service then it is your job to answer them or politely point them in the right direction to find the answer themselves. THIS! Have you tried to read the FAQ? It's like a thesis. SO confusing, yet they get quoted at you when you ask a question, like you've failed to study for an important exam. SaveSave

We've also come to realize that we can't offer one of everything to everyone with our traditional add on purchase model. So what to do? Well, we do what Cocoa Daisy has always done, we push forward, get creative, and try as best as we can to meet our customers' needs. To achieve that we will be moving away from the traditional Reveal night model; there will no longer be any ordering on Reveal night. We currently offer 95% of our product in a subscription form and we've decided that the only way to ensure we offer all of our products to as many people as possible is to transition to a subscription-only model. It's the only way to accurately predict demand, fill demand and thus alleviate the stress of hoping you get what you want. My biggest dilemma with this change is my desire to continue to offer some extras that go with the kits--fun things that I find or want to produce but won't fit in our kits. This is something I don't want to give up, because I know our customers enjoy the option of adding a little something more to their monthly order. We spent a lot of time last night and this morning coming up with a plan and I'm very excited about it! We'll still do occasional pre-orders for seasonal items, popular re-releases and special edition items, but in order to bring you fun extras each month without the stress of trying to log on and hoping there is enough, we're introducing two new subscriptions: Cocoa Daisy Classified: Planner Edition and Cocoa Daisy Classified: Memory Keeping Edition. Please note that, in order to begin with the December shipments, we must limit sign-ups to Thursday and Friday, November 2 and 3, only. Beginning December 2, subscriptions will open again and stay open until the 27th or until we reach capacity, whichever comes first. Each of these subscriptions will priced at $19.99 to $21.99 and available in 3 or 6 month commitments. The fun part is that each month they will have those little extras we are known for to make your Planner or Memory Keeping just that little bit "extra." And, better yet, the contents will be a surprise--"Classified." We keep the fun of the surprise of Reveal while making sure there is enough for everyone. Did they really expel 500 words to say "nothing can be bought at reveal, it's just for looksies only. And you can't have anything unless you subscribe"?
It's like they use 27 words when 5 will do.

You know, I've read the email like 4 times and it still makes no sense. Long winded and confusing. I don't like the part about it being a surprise. I don't understand why they can't spend more on IT to upgrade the backend, many other websites don't crash and have a lot of consumers.

Guess that means I'll be sticking just with my SB sub for now. It would have been nice to know what MIGHT be included for $20/mo. I've tried to remember what extras have been offered in the past and can only come up with some planner clips, some coordinating puffy stickers and acetate sheets. Nothing that would total $20. So, it's a "no" for me, too.

. I do NOT LIKE SIMON. OMG that rabbit pisses me off to no end. This made me laugh so hard! The Ooh and Aah over the rabbit on their FB groups made me wonder if I was missing something. SaveSaveI just cannot anything with that freaking ugly rabbit. If he were cute like Beatrix Potter sure I would love that but he is a hipster rabbit and I hate him and the designs and stamps, and charms and stuff!!! Ugh.

In my opinion, in today's email, they made it very clear their business model is the subscription service. They don't want to be a store or carry inventory in excess of what their subscribers will consume that month. If I remember correctly, they just moved the business out of the owner's home in the past year and, from the photos shared on instagram, the new office is set up primarily for shipping out the monthly boxes. It didn't appear there was much additional room for storage. They claim to increase their quantities every month but these are consumed by new subscribers. Maybe the new customers are coming from SC or GB - I don't know. It's apparently working for them and they certainly have the right to run their business as they see fit according to their strategy and financial objectives.

And I don't know why it surprises me, but there are Daisies tripping over themselves to post on facebook what a great solution this is. I'm not feeling the love...

@rosyposy That is terrible they accused of trolling. Not only is it terrible but it is creepy too. How would they know? CD latest e-mail. Well if that wasn't confusing! They made it seem like all their new influx of customers are a hassle instead of a blessing. I bet the other kit companies are thrilled with CD at this moment. The other kit companies are going to get a new influx of new subbies. Nobody needs a Ph.D to subscribe to a kit club.

I'm not sure how to feel about this. I love CD, I really enjoy seeing new things each month and I like receiving the nice box of beautiful products each month. Every time I have had an issue, customer service has been excellent. I have never received any rude responses and everything has been taken care of at top speed and satisfactorily. They have even gone above and beyond the resolution I was expecting, so I have nothing but good things to say of them in that regard. There have been other kit clubs that I have dealt with whose customer service is horrible, CD has shown me the best customer service possible. So I'm actually shocked to hear these stories.
Now I will agree that reveal has been a point of extreme frustration. Each reveal night it took me at least 30 minutes to over an hour to go through the check out process, with multiple site crashes....having to reload time and time again. It was super annoying, and I could never understand why they just couldn't get it worked out.
I guess they feel like this is the best solution. Even with all the frustration, I would have chosen to continue to endure reveal night than to have choices taken away from me. Now if we want something we have to sub to it. I can't afford multiple subs. I'm currently in 2 of their subs, and was thinking of changing or dropping at least one of them because I find myself having way too many leftovers. I'm decorating my planner less and less. I never really got into the big time decorating and now I'm doing it even less. I feel like a lot of the money is being wasted. But not one of their clubs fits me perfectly, that's why I enjoyed being able to choose a variety of things at reveal.
So honestly I don't know what else they could have done to alleviate the problem, but I'm not sure this is the best solution. I'm saddened by it because I really enjoyed being able to add a few extras here and there, now I'm going to have to try to figure out what single sub would be the most beneficial for me and forget the rest. And I'm even more frustrated that I only have 2 days to do that and must do it without seeing the sneak peek email first.

I've been a big CD supporter for years. I think they have the best kits, some really cool ideas and their exclusive papers are among my favorites in my collection. I've always found their customer service really excellent. I haven't subbed since 2016 because I have so much stuff and I'm scrapping less, but I do like to buy one-off kits on the 1st of the month from time to time when they have extras (I think I've purchased 3 or 4 kits in 2017). It makes me really sad that I will no longer be able to do this.
I wonder why they just don't expand their operation? I thought that's what was going to happen when she moved the company out of her garage and into it's own space. Maybe the margins are just too narrow to hire additional employees or sit on extra stock.

I am a subscriber to their kits and I love their stuff and have had good CS from them so far so no complaints there but I am left scratching my head on this latest change. I don't think it's the smartest move on their part and it makes me so frustrated as a subber. Only in recent months has the reveal been a nightmare. Last year when I subbed it went smoothly for me. They actually used to do add on kits and then they switched to the Build your Own Add-On method that they have now with being able to add little bits of stuff that you wanted. When I first started subbing I sent them an email about how I loved the add-on kits they used to offer and how it was all put together for me already instead of me having to choose and they responded with how they were not going to go back to that model because that is not what the subbers wanted. I grew to really like the new method of adding only what I wanted at reveal and could understand why that was the more popular way and now BOOM it's gone. Are there really that many people who are going to subscribe to a surprise bag of goodies sight unseen? I for one would not. Not to mention that they are combining the surprise bag for the 12x12 memory keeping and the life pages one. I see those as 2 different things. I know some people do both but there are others that only do 1 or the other and they will have lots of wasted stuff. I am also sad to see the reveal go. I seriously counted down the days each month. It gave me something fun and exciting to look forward to.

Thanks scrappymom, I'm considering it. I wonder if they are willing to listen, I feel like it would have been nice for them to get customer input first before springing this change so suddenly upon us. But I guess they had a lot of upset customers over this past reveal.
Newpea, thanks for the info about the way CD did things in the past. I wonder why they are going back to that now if this way was more popular instead of looking into other ways to expand their website capabilities?
I had actually thought things had improved a little because last month it was better. The whole process only took 30 minutes for me and the site was slow but didn't repeatedly crash. However, this month was one of the worse in my experience and why oh why did they add that stupid countdown to get the subscriber code? I thought that thing surely slowed down the website and what was the point of it anyway? No one could use it until it was time to shop anyway so what was the harm in seeing it before like it used to be.
I know how you feel newpea, because reveal always had me excited all day as well. Even with the site issues, it was something fun to look forward to.
I already sub to the 2 planner kits at 46.99, I just can not see adding another $20 sub, paying over $60 for a planner every month seems insane to me.

Yeah I agree about the memory keeping kit being an odd concept. I mostly do layouts with the occasional pocket page and wouldn't want heaps of cards each month - but the occasional set might be useful. Sometimes all I might want is a few extra embellishments and I'm not going to pay US$20 for those (works out to NZ$30). Plus no doubt I would end up paying more shipping as well.
Lots of other companies that started out small have a reveal without too many issues. Or just have a small store operation with a few bits and pieces that can be added in. It does sound like a step backwards to me but the problem is that there's so little choice out there now.
Another thought is that the price point for what is a mystery kit is too high. If they offered a 'goodie bag' for around the $10 mark I can see a lot more people being willing to take the risk of buying something sight unseen.

I just cannot anything with that freaking ugly rabbit. lol! I don't subscribe to any kit clubs, so I've never seen this. I just googled him, and I agree he is not cute at all. he reminds me of the Eric Cartman character from the TV show South Park. lol.

I guess they are talking about the planner binders, TN covers, and older product? But what I'm wondering is if they will still have extra stickers or extra washi tape available, some inserts... you know the things that normally don't sell out each month? I guess the answer is no unless you sub to those too?

I guess the answer is no unless you sub to those too? The way I read it was if you wanted to be sure to get those, you needed to start a sub for them. There might be some available on the 1st but absolutely no guarantee. I think as they get a better handle on the numbers needed for subscribers over the next few months there will be less available to buy on the 1st. And that's the model they're working towards.

It looks like many of the kits are sold out so if you subscribe on the 2nd, you would get the kits that are available on Dec 28 - so the January kits. Those will be "sneaked" on the 15th so you can get an idea of what the themes/colors are. Seriously?? that's insane. I'm starting to think i need to just find another kit that i mesh well with, though this seems to be the best one. Its really off-putting that they can't seem to maintain any stock. Maybe i'm the only one that finds that annoying. I subbed back in 2012. It's always been this way. They sell out frequently on add-ons on the opening night. Even subscribers couldn't always get the add-ons they wanted. I think it's a way to continually hype their kits and get the frenzy buyer. Their kits were always great though. Back then, customer service was top notch. It's sad to hear that their service orientation has gone out the window.

I will never understand why some of these companies make it so difficult for me to give them my money. I love CD's stuff but they make it too complicated for me to buy from them. I know a few other companies just like that. It's a shame as I'd like to support my fellow women in this industry.
