The booklets that came with my glass top stoves said to lift pan and not drag it across stove top. Also not to store any top of objects on top. Sorry, this seems to be owner error.

I am using this stove the exact same way I have used previous glass tops and this one. I have never had this happen. I am on my 3rd glass top stove. The owners manual for every single one of them said NEVER drag a pan across the surface but rather lift the pant to move it. Even if the pan is perfectly smooth on the bottom, something caught underneath it could damage the surface.
