Last night we had chicken nuggets and steamed rice. Tonight I might try the chicken soup idea, once again. I'll see what the guys want and go from there.
What's on your menu?
Have a great day and a joyous weekend.

Well DH is now telling me he doesn't think he's going to make it home tonight. Which means no kids either. I'm rethinking my dinner plan of pot pie. DS won't eat it. It's just too big to eat by myself. It might end up being a night of sandwiches.

Dh and I were supposed to go out to this really nice restaurant tonight for our 20th anniversary which is on November 7th ... today he woke up feeling like he has a man cold so I'll be cancelling the reservation He is a total whiner when he is sick so the next few days should be interesting because I usually have no sympathy I'll book us in for next weekend so we can celebrate then I had not planned to cook tonight to I'm thinking it will be pizza or various takeout stops ... works for me

My dh ended up not having to work last night so the boys were super excited to see Daddy home (and not sleeping) this morning. We have no school today too so that was the cherry on top Just having a mellow morning before dh leaves for work later. The boys and I plan on making some homemade banana bread this afternoon so dinner will be something pretty easy. The boys have been talking about omelettes so that might be it. Or maybe breakfast burritos.

leannec , oh no. Your dh has a man cold. Everyone please remove all sharp objects from Leanne's reach. Hoping you avoid his cold and that your dh heals quickly. I'm sorry that your anniversary dinner has to be postponed. @bdhardy, thank you for posting that yummy looking recipe.

leannec, how disappointing! Dinner? Salmon and couscous (with lentils, sweet corn, cucumber and carrots). Since that's almost too healthy, I'm going to eat chocolate later.

I am tossing ideas around with dh right now. We have no meat in the house so whatever we decide will involve a trip to the grocery store. Our trick or treating is this evening so I’ll be going out with dd and dgd. We may end up picking something up on our way home.
I went to see my Dad this morning and realized when I was leaving that he thought I was my sister. Two weeks ago he thought I was my daughter. Every time it catches me off guard and upsets me terribly. 😕

We're on day 3 without a car for me. DH is spending so much time down at the rental meeting with painters, landscapers, carpet guys, etc. His car won't be ready until next Friday. At least it keeps me home working on my Christmas cards for the 2Peas card exchange. If I make it to Raley's in time I think I'll make some chicken noodle soup. I'm already way too cold outside for my liking!

I was fretting on the way home from work about what to do for dinner. Came home to find DH had picked up Chinese on his way home. No cooking tonight!! After my walk, I'm getting in my PJs and starting a new book. I'm so ready for the weekend 😘

My dad and DS will have halibut tonight and I am going to have prawns. There is still some butter lettuce left and I will make green beans (made asparagus last night). I guess I will make rice again. I made Japanese rice last night, but tonight it will be Jasmine or basmati.

We are going out to dinner. There is a heavy discussion over where to go. I'm hoping for the Flying Pig flyingpigpubkitchen.com/ but other family members are lobbying for one of the local microbreweries.

Last night 3/11 we had Friday Night Fish & Chips. I went upmarket and ordered salmon instead of the usual flake. We're going to a concert tonight (Midnight Oil, one of my favorite bands from the 80s). I have no idea what we're going to do for dinner. It's an outdoor concert that starts at 5pm with 3 support bands. I think they will probably sell food there???

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend! We had a late lunch at a WONDERFUL steak with a dear friend we hadn't seen in over a year; since she and her new hubby moved to another state Our yummy steaks were so big, we both saved half for dinner.

Wanted to keep it to four letters There are a few too man consonants in that word I agree. My Japanese students (the little kids) knew the word for it from the get go. It's "tan" in Japanese. Everyone knows it's phlegm and they all wanted the spelling and pronunciation of it and I am "no you don't-it's hard for us gaijin, too." This made me giggle.

I did the late lunch thing again - as in really late lunch (2:30 ) I allowed myself a little treat and had 1 piece of awesome fried chicken from a mom & pop shop. Yum
So far I just had a banana for dinner

I am already in my pj's and it's not even 5:00 yet!
I think we are going to have orange chicken and gyoza. Both frozen convenience foods from Costco.
Kait is taking the SAT's tomorrow. She's been studying and taking practice exams on and off all day.

They both loved the halibut so I guess it was a hit. The tomatoes were excellent, too.

I still had a little sauce left from the stroganoff that was sort of "extra," not much in the way of beef and mushrooms left in it but still very nice and flavorful. I guess I made too much sauce. Anyway. I cooked more noodles, mixed them with the sauce, added diced zucchini (because zucchini. I never get tired of it) and it was delicious. Practically like a free dinner. oh, and in case you're worried about me being stroganoff-less after five days of eating stroganoff (sometimes just for breakfast) ... there's more in the freezer. That was a LOT of stroganoff. Tomorrow I'm going to an all-day class/crop at the LSS. I guess I will just eat whatever I can cobble together when I get home, not till early evening. Can't think about it right now. Not stroganoff, though.

We went to dh’s favorite place. I had shrimp & grits. He gets the cheese plate. The bread that’s served with it is from a guy just getting started from a community kitchen. Last time we were there they served focaccia. So when the owner brought it out he said I have a present for you. We laughed.
Headed to my parents to do fall yard cleanup and laundry and whatever else. I’ll get to have my favorite youngstown pizza.

You'll understand if we don't join you! I'm sorry that you're sick. Hope you feel better quickly. KelleeM, it's disconcerting when your dad doesn't recognize you and very sad. Dh's dad has alzheimers and dh said that was the hardest part. Though your dad has a different condition, it's still awful to witness nonetheless. ((((HUGS)))).
