I love a hand held shower head. I especially like them when the shower head is high on the wall. I'm a short person.
For our shower I have a device that has a fixed head as well as the hand held option. I like that arrangement very much.

Well, we have 3 heads in our shower. One for hubby's side, one for my side, and one that is handheld. While I don't care if I have that one or not, I love it for cleaning the shower. Very helpful. I am 5 feet "tall," and a regular shower head works fine for me.

I would love a hand-held one and it's on my wish-list if we ever build. That said, we have a regular showerhead and it works just fine (but I'm 5'8")

Well you know the conversation has got to turn, so it may as well be sooner than later. I have one and I love it. It's great for those hard to reach places. (Remember from an old thread a month or two ago about using washcloths to clean our front and back lady parts.)

We always install a hand-held wherever we live - whether we build the house or not. Current shower has a static/hand-held duo that we installed ourselves.

(Remember from an old thread a month or two ago about using washcloths to clean our front and back lady parts.) Yep, it's a must for rinsing those areas after washing for me! Plus, I use it close to my scalp to rinse my thick hair out well, and for cleaning like Patter.

I honestly do not understand how people can get/be clean without them. I will never not have one in my shower.
(Which brings us back to the famous washcloth/shower threads of pea lore)

Two of our three showers have them, but not in our master. It came in handy when I couldn’t get my foot wet to be able to sit and hang one leg out and use the hand held to get the soap out of my hair.
Now what I would actually love more than the hand held shower head would be NO freaking shower doors! I hate them with the heat of a thousand suns. They are the bane of my existence making it impossible to wash a big dog or a child with very long hair, even with the hand held shower head! All three of our showers have doors and they are a PITA to work around in those two situations.

I just replaced our static with an excellent quality hand held because dh needs it for his bath chair. We will most likely keep it because we love it.

It's a must have, but I don't ever use it except to bathe the dog. That's the only reason I need one.
ETA: I forgot, I need it to clean the shower too!

i love them too. i can't imagine going back to a fixed shower head. the handheld ones are so handy if you don't want to get your whole body wet or if you want to clean the shower.

Hated the darn thing, so one summer, the door was removed. I have a clear shower curtain there. Ones with a design make the space dark, so I got a "frosted" one first and later replaced it with a clear one.

IMO, if you can change a light bulb, you can install the hand held shower head.
Unscrew the old one, then screw on the new one.

Oh, how I wish we would have had the handheld shower head when the boy was just a wee lad.
Came in quite handy when I had to bathe my husband. And, cleaning/rinsing the shower is so convenient.

Thank you everyone who says that they are easy to install - I'm not sure I can do it myself (I have arthritis in my hands and shoulders and have trouble with things above my head) but maybe I can talk DH into it.
oth - we picked up a rain showerhead at Aldi's some time ago and it's still sitting on the shelf in the bathroom so maybe not...

It has those stupid skinny sliding doors and I tried (unsuccessfully) to take them off. I thought I could just unscrew the little thing at the top that holds the doors up, but noooo. Of course it couldn’t be that simple. Turned out to take the doors off I would have had to take the whole track and frame out and that was more than I was willing to do.
