Hope everyone had a nice weekend & that your week is off to a good start!
What are your plans for this week? Any races coming up?

I wrote my update for the Disney Half marathon on last weeks thread. Rest of the week I will be taking off since I'm quite sore.
Not sure what my running plan will be. I want to continue to run, but just for fun for the next few months. I know I will need some sort of goal/plan or I won't run at all lol.

Thanks for mentioning your race recap on the previous thread, candygurl. It has been a kooky day for me & I had missed your & Anna*Banana's posts. I'm so glad to hear that y'all had a good time despite a few setbacks!

Oh yes, my update is on last weeks thread too. Elaine posted our picture there. I took today and yesterday off but will get in a good walk with perhaps a mile or two of running tomorrow. With no injuries or issues other than some muscle soreness, I'm getting back on the horse. Plus, I really want to try out my new Hoka Bondi 3's. Picked them up at the Disney running Expo.

I really need to do *some* training, seriously. I did walk to work (2 miles) and just finished walking at lunch (3 miles) today. What I need to do is start running again.
First up on October 5th: Ka Iwi Coast Run/Walk, which is a 4 miler at sunrise along the coast, first two miles are up hill.
If I start NOW, I should be able to run a good portion of it, if not all of it, but I just need to get out there and do it.
Motivation is the key, so that is why I am writing it down!
The run after that is the Honolulu Marathon in December, took me almost 7 hours last year and I trained zero.
Off to check out last week's thread.

Love reading the recaps from Disneyland. How fun!! I've been sidelined all last week with a sprained ankle, then when I got ready to start again, my calf popped and has been sore ever since. Soo, I plan to get back to it tomorrow and pray for no more injuries!

Off to check out last week's thread. Oh my gosh, I don't know how you were able to do an entire marathon without any training. That is some real grit. Did you run alone? I am back on the training wheel again. I got in 5 miles this morning. 2 walk, 1 run, 2 walk. I can't take too much time off, I've got the Army 10 miler in DC in a month. My son, an Army Officer, will be running too. I doubt he'll run with me, but we'll start together and I'll see him at the end. He's 6 feet and in super good shape, the antithesis of his "solid" shorter Mom. Looking at the photos of Elaine and I makes me laugh for the same reason. She: tall and lean. Me: short and not lean. Sucks getting old!

In fact, I prefer that because I would not want to hold anyone up by making a pit stop. Just me and my iPod to keep me company. My husband also ran/walked the HM. That last mile, the finish line for both of us just kept getting further and further away. He finished in just under 6 hours.
Good for you for getting 5 miles in today! I should be able to do that as well, but mine will all be walking or I will be a hot mess at work since there is no place to shower.

Got my 4 miles in early this morning & am psyching myself up for 10 on Saturday. Sadly, I don't think the humidity will be gone by then so it will be another miserably swampy run. I downloaded a new song that I heard while watching the US Open - "Can You Do This" by Aloe Blacc. It's a pretty catchy addition to my running playlist.

I went for a 5 mile run this morning and feel great! I motivate myself by following other people if they cross my path to keep my pace up. I even did the uphill detour and stairs that I normally skip.

5 mile walk (2 to work/3 at lunch) yesterday 2 mile walk to work this morning, I will walk at lunch again today, and I could walk home instead of taking the bus which would be a reverse 2 miles.
- still really need to go for a run, even if it is just 1 mile!
Great job for those of you who have gotten your run in today.
I should add more songs to my iPod.

Enjoyed reading about the Disney Half. Well done elaine, Anna*Banana & candygurl! My training's going well. We're getting into our longer runs now so have 2:40 tomorrow and 3 hrs the following Saturday. Main thing is to stay healthy and avoid all the winter coughs and colds!

I agree that it is very important to watch your health. I got pneumonia this past winter and couldn't run for a couple of weeks - it was awful. I've been trying to catch up at home and haven't run yet this week - I have walked at least 4 miles a day, though. Hopefully I will get out for a run tomorrow. I'm sending out virtual cheers for MaryPea, Yoki, and annabella! Yay for you guys getting your runs in today! And also Anna*Banana, who I know is running right now. I got my MarathonFoto pictures from Disneyland today - here's one of Anna and I in Tomorrowland:

Ugh, did 1 1/2 mi on the treadmill this morning. Just past 1 mile my calf started hurting again. It has progressively gotten worse throughout the day. This is not good. I was planning to do a 10k in 3 1/2 weeks. It needs to get better asap!

sbartist, thanks! Those are CW-X stablyx compression shorts. They are expensive (like everything CW-X), but I love them and do make a difference.

elaine and Anna*Banana, I love the picture! It looks like y'all had a ball. I love my CW-X tights. I should grab a pair of the shorts, too. candygurl, do you have any pictures?? sbartist, the Ka Iwi shoreline is absolutely gorgeous. Very cool you are doing a race out there. Will it be a big one? Most of the races I did in Hawaii were townside. Heading out tonight for a tempo run. Tempo is what is on the training plan, but who am I kidding?? It is hotter than hell outside, and I am still nursing these stupid sore feet of mine. I am trying to take care of my feet for the next couple of weeks 'cuz I'm fight PF. I have a half marathon next Saturday and the Navy AF 5 Miler on Sunday. 18+ miles in one weekend is probably not one of my best ideas, but my running buddies talked me into it, and I am a sucker for peer pressure.

I walked my first half marathon on Sunday and exceeded my goal time by 10 minutes. I was really happy with my time, but I've been pretty sore this week. I walked on Tuesday and I'm planning on walking more this week to stay loose. I'm going to sign up for my next on which will be in November. I think I'm hooked

Elaine - you were not kidding on the cost of the CW-X shorts! But if they help, then it is worth it. Do they run true to size?
Kymberlee - this is the 2nd annual Ka Iwi Coast Run & Walk - proceeds go to the Hui Nalu canoe club. I honestly don't know how many people participated last year, but nothing like the crowds at the Great Aloha Run, Hapalua Half or the Honolulu Marathon. A lot of people also walk it, since it is advertised as a Run & Walk (4 miles).
It is still hot here too, 90 degrees. If I want to run, I either need to be up at 3:30 a.m. or run when the sun goes down. Neither of which have been happening. And PF issues just totally suck. The only good thing (if you want to call it that), is that the initial pain upon wakening in the morning does subside somewhat as the day progresses. And you know what, there is no shame in walking if you have to either due to pain or fatigue. My goal is always just finish.

I suppose I could've started running again today since I don't feel sore anymore but just feeling lazy! Going to start running again on Saturday. Most likely do 2-3 weekday short runs and a long (5-7) miles on Saturdays. Love that I can just run for fun again and not have to follow a training plan. Though sometimes the training plan is the only motivation for me to run. A double edge sword I guess!
Love the photo! My favorite part was running through the parks, so coo!

elaine and anna banana - how fun!!!! You guys rock! I got my three runs in last week, but nothing this week. Tried to "Style" on Tuesday and the stupid flats gave me a horrible blister - trying to heal it up a bit before I run. I'm up to 4 miles at a time - wanted to try for 5 miles on Saturday. I have a race 9/27 - just want to do fair. I love these threads - you keep me inspired!

I have a stick. I'll try rolling it tonight. Compression socks helped a little.

elaine - that's a great picture! Y'all look like you're having a lot of fun! We totally had a great time... I kind of hit the wall at one point. Some kind of intestinal upset but I gutted past it and finished. No pun intended... lol And get this, because we had limited time and wanted to pack in as much as possible, we did Disney until pretty late that night. I *think* Elaine said we logged something like 45K + steps for the day. hahahaha

I was planning to do a 10k in 3 1/2 weeks. It needs to get better asap! Our County has an amazing pool/gym. We have a family membership. I usually run, have a long swim, sit in the therapy pool for about 15 min. and then sit in the jacuzzi for about 15 min. I really make use of the jets and let them pound into my calves and my thighs, especially the outside area where you'd use the foam roll. I never ever had an issue with muscle cramping and tightness until it closed for 2 weeks for cleaning and training. After about a week I resorted to a Flexeril (muscle relaxent), and that helped immensely. I hate taking meds but sometimes... Our pool/gym is back open and after my run tonight I was back in the therapy pool, I sometimes call it the bathtub because it's about as warm as one, and the jacuzzi and my legs are as loose and relaxed as ever. If you have the ability to use one see if that helps. I know it helps me. A lot.

I love the photos of elaine and anna banana at the Disney half!! So cute!! Candygurl, did you have any photos taken? Would love to see you too. I think I need to find last weeks thread because I think I missed Candygurl's comments on the Disney run.
I have continued with my power walks. I seem to be stuck around 12:30ish per mile. Maybe that is the top speed I am going to get or maybe if I had someone with me who walked slightly faster, that would help me get my pace up a bit more. I have been trying to get in 5 power walks each week which means mostly Monday through Friday. I am sticking to 5 miles or slightly over each day because my feet seem to not be in too much pain at that distance. I can go further but I will pay for it more the rest of the day. I did a few searches for 10k races in my area to see if I could find something close by that allows speed walkers. I missed one 10k. But, I also couldn't find anything about whether or not speed walkers were allowed. I would love to try a half too. I know a 10k is not a problem because for a while, I was doing a 10k almost every morning. There is the Hot Chocolate run/walk in February. It is a 15k. Maybe I will do that for my first one!! I have some friends who walk this one but they are sllllloooooowwww. LOL
