From NPR.... “An organization representing the interests of small farmers across rural America fired a legal salvo Thursday aimed at a Trump administration they feel has let them down. The lawsuit, filed by the Organization for Competitive Markets — a small-farmers think tank based in Lincoln, Neb. — and three farmer plaintiffs, did not shake the halls of Congress. Nor will it go viral on social media. But to the 40,000 contract poultry farmers, 900,000 cattle ranchers, and 70,000 hog farmers in America's heartland whose interests it seeks to represent, the lawsuit represents the tip of an iceberg of financial and emotional despair. At issue is the Trump administration's withdrawal of two Obama-era rules designed to protect small farmers, who say they are being exploited by the meatpacking companies they supply.” Elections have consequences. I wonder how many of those small farmers/ranchers embraced his lies and voted for him. Not Hillary. Because emails. And Benghazi. And Russia. I hope their faith in the Great Narcissist keeps them warm in winter when they can't afford to run their furnaces. If I remember correctly one of the programs being cut is helping people to pay the cost of heating their homes during the cold winter. So some of these folks may get hit at least twice by trump’s policies.

linkFrom The NY Daily News “Donald Trump's right to free speech trumps other people's right to free speech, according to his lawyers. The President's legal team argued this week that he couldn't have violated the rights of protesters when he called on his supporters to remove them from a campaign rally last year — because they violated his rights first. "In this case, Plaintiffs interfered with the Trump Campaign's freedom to 'choose the content of (its) own message,'" Trump's lawyers wrote in a motion. " Thus, by interjecting this anti-Trump speech in the middle of a pro-Trump rally, they were obviously transforming the message that Mr. Trump and the Campaign wished the event to convey."The motion was filed in an attempt to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a number of protesters who were violently escorted from a Trump campaign rally in Louisville, Ky., in March 2016 after Trump belted, "Get 'em out of here" from the stage.” I think the key here is how these folks were “escorted” out of the area. But it’s an interesting take presented by his lawyers. trump has every right to speak and others have that same right to speak at the same time. What trump does not have is the right to incite the crowd to remove those he doesn’t like violently. I’m not a lawyer but I think that is what the lawsuit is all about. Completely agree with what you're saying about inciting the crowd. How is the bolded any different than having pro-choice show up at a pro-life rally? I will admit I am unfamiliar with the campaign rally being referred to.

Moore has refused to concede the race, which went to his Democratic opponent Doug Jones with 49.9 percent of the vote compared to Moore's 48.4 percent. The campaign is seeking to meet a deadline to report cases of voter fraud before Alabama's secretary of State certifies the vote. The election will be certified between Dec. 26 and Jan. 3. In a letter sent out to supporters, the campaign said its budget "ran through" on Tuesday, the night of the Alabama special election, and asked supporters to help raise another $75,000 to collect reports of "voter fraud and other irregularities at polling locations throughout the state." Translation of Moore’s comments : “African Americans won the election for Jones and we all know that if there is any voter fraud African Americans are at the center of it.” What a disgrace this is and this is all trump’s fault with him and his factious claims of voter fraud. When is this nightmare going to be over with?

I personally know someone in Iowa whose entire community believed Trump would help their farms because he said so. I knew he was a pathological liar but she didn't listen to me. She said the farmers so desperately need help to survive that they needed Trump. I knew she would feel the disappointment one day. Rather than feeling like "I told you so", I just feel so sad for them.

Delicious thread here about Trump being butthurt and scared sh#(less because the GSA followed the law instead of his usual bs non-disclosure agreements.
"As a result, Trump's people walked into their interviews with Mueller and team with a completely false sense of confidence that he didn't know what he already knew in spades. They thought he was fishing. He was just reeling fish in.
Can you imagine the freakout that must have occurred in Trumpland when they realized their cleanup guy hadn't actually done the cleanup after all? Alllllllll of the things they thought they had buried were not only not buried; Mueller had them in writing!"

Eric Columbus... “This letter from the Trump transition team lawyer is all kinds of bananas, but I'd like to note one very large banana: the claim that GSA gave Mueller materials protected by executive privilege. 1/ politico.com/f/?id=00000160… This isn’t possible, for one simple reason: Trump wasn’t president yet! And yet this paragraph on page 4 cites both aspects of executive privilege – deliberative process privilege (i.e. internal government deliberations) and presidential communications privilege. 2/ The deliberative process privilege protects internal government deliberations; the presidential communications privilege protects communications made or received by the presidential advisers in the course of preparing advice for the president. 3/ You don’t get to assert these privileges until you take office! The presidential transition team wasn’t a government entity – it was a private organization. 4/ But don’t take my word for it – in the service of other arguments, the lawyer spends 1.5 pages explaining how transition teams are private. 5/ I’ll leave to others to reveal numerous other oddities in the lawyer’s letter. A good place to start is this great piece by @chrisgeidner, who somehow got a GSA lawyer on the phone on a Saturday night. 6/end” The Buzzfeed article mentioned in Tweet #6... link
In otherwords the latest email caper is much ado about nothing. Unfortunately the trump supporters won’t get this information from Fox or trump.

GOP chairman worried by Trump's stance on Russian interferenceBY MORGAN CHALFANT - 12/17/17 06:00 AM EST The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee says he is worried that President Trump has not issued an “outright condemnation” of Russia for meddling in the 2016 election. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), who was widely viewed as a contender for Trump’s secretary of Homeland Security, told The Hill in a sit-down interview that he has told the administration the president needs to “more forcefully” stand up to Moscow. But, nearly one year into Trump’s administration, McCaul’s appeal has gone unanswered. “I think there is a lot of, for whatever reason, avoidance of the issue, or saying that it could have been some other country. When you look at the intelligence, it is very clear the attribution goes directly to the Kremlin,” McCaul said. “That worries me.” Trump has at times cast doubt on the intelligence community’s assessment that Russia sought to interfere in the election. He has also lashed out at the special counsel investigation into whether his campaign coordinated with Moscow, calling it a “witch hunt.” The Washington Post reported Thursday that officials briefing Trump refrain from bringing up Russia-related intelligence in verbal briefings to avoid angering him. This tweet by Walter Shaub...
“Got the OSC complaint all ready. Just need to add your name. Sign right up. Any takers? @kellyannepolls @presssec @scavino45? Anyone?”
Prompted this response by Dan Scavino who I guess is trump’s communication director...
“Obama’s head of Office of Government Ethics continues to taunt and threaten Trump Administration via Twitter by filing OSC complaints to the office he once oversaw. #CLOWN🤡”
Which then prompted this reply from Walter Shaub....
“I don’t know whether to be startled by a govt official using an official account to call a citizen names, amused he thinks OGE & OSC are the same agency, flattered I’m in the head of a guy OSC told to stop violating the Hatch Act, or worried by his contempt for the rule of law.”
Does trump have anyone working for him that has any sense?

Seriously, the propaganda churned out by Fox and alt-right conspiracy sites turn out an entirely different worldview that every other media outlet, but you know, Fox is the only one because Trump says so. If you're watching the state endorsed media, it's all Hillary's or Obama's fault. Whatever that may be.

Law firm sues Kushner real estate business for unpaid billsBY BRETT SAMUELS - 12/17/17 07:49 PM EST A law firm that represented senior White House adviser Jared Kushner’s real estate company in court is now suing the company for lack of payment, The New York Daily News reported Sunday. Corcnicello, Tendler & Baumel-Cornicello filed a lawsuit earlier this month seeking $102,000 for work done in 2014 and 2015. The law firm represented Kushner Companies in dozens of eviction and housing cases, the newspaper reported. A spokeswoman for Kushner Cos. told the Daily News that the company is "working to resolve this matter.” Kushner stepped down as CEO of his company earlier this year to go work for President Trump, his father-in-law, in the White House. Kushner’s properties have come under scrutiny elsewhere. Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh announced in October he was investigating debt collection practices and poor maintenance at several of the company’s properties.
The company also faced scrutiny in May when Kushner's sister, Nicole Meyer, a principal at the company, mentioned her brother's service in the Trump administration during a pitch to investors in Beijing. thehill.com/homenews/administration/365377-law-firm-sues-kushner-real-estate-business-for-unpaid-bills

Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner sued over financial disclosuresBy JOSH GERSTEIN 12/17/2017 09:59 PM EST First daughter and presidential adviser Ivanka Trump and her husband and fellow White House adviser Jared Kushner were hit with a lawsuit Sunday alleging illegal omissions on their public financial disclosure forms. Washington lawyer Jeffrey Lovitky contends that Trump and Kushner failed to identify the assets owned by 30 investment funds the couple had stakes in. The complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Washington also claims the couple should have declared the value of and income they derived from two investment vehicles, but did not. ************* Lovitky, a health care finance lawyer who sometimes files civil rights cases, filed a similar suit against President Donald Trump in March, alleging that a financial disclosure Trump filed during the 2016 campaign failed to make clear whether and to what degree he was personally liable for various debts shown on the form. That suit — which now includes claims related to a new form Trump in June — is still pending. The Justice Department has moved to dismiss the case, but the judge has not yet ruled on the motion.More at link: www.politico.com/story/2017/12/17/ivanka-trump-jared-kushner-sued-financial-disclosures-302240Seems like this person sues people maybe frequently or not? As we know anyone can file suit against anyone... so this may not be big, but it might be?

I'm not sure what the rust belt is,will go look, but I am wondering if this is typical for this time of year. I know when I was in IT, the budget was often used by the end of the year and as many people weren't needed. But come January, more job opportunities arose.
