First they raise the Prime price to $99. Dh says it's still worth it for him, so we keep it. Then they start this Prime Pantry thing. So things I used to get shipped for free, now cost $5.99 per pantry box (45 lbs). This is nuts. I used to order things like steel cut oats, laundry detergent, Nesquik, etc from them. Now I can't get those things without creating a 'pantry' shipment and then paying a shipping fee. I can, however, get these items from Walmart online with no shipping fee when the order is $50+.
I think I'm done with Prime when this year is up. This is breaking the camel's back for me...

Will have to check that out. I had no idea they were changing things like that. I expected another rate hike though.

I don't typically order pantry items, sometimes trash bags. I haven't heard of Amazon Pantry. I'll have to check it out.

I think it must vary because I order quite a bit of "pantry" type items via subscribe and save and still don't pay shipping.
A few things I've ordered lately:
dishwasher detergent toilet paper paper towels drink mixes breakfast cookies mac & cheese taco seasoning razor blades

I think the pantry is just in certain areas, and possibly for same day delivery, or an early morning delivery. Have you been able to select subscribe and save instead?

I haven't heard of the Pantry service, either.
I did cancel my Prime membership earlier this year. So far I've been able to order everything I've wanted and still get free shipping. Once or twice I had to add in something else to meet the $35 cut off, but it was something we needed anyway, like diapers or wipes.

It's stuff like this: NesquikThere's no Subscribe and Save option and it says 'Exclusively for Prime Members'. I used to just be able to buy this with free shipping via Prime. Now I can't. I have to use the Pantry option.

I've done a few pantry boxes for heavy and/or hard to find things or things that are much cheaper at Amazon then my local places. For those reasons, it seems a good deal to not have to find someone to lug things for me as I can't lift anything over a few lbs (think large cat food, multi-pack of canned foods, cat litter, etc.).
Now that DSO is able to help, I've not done it, but when I need to, $5.00 is very much worth the convenience.

There are still lots of pantry items on Prime. But usually they are big sizes -- I had to buy a 4 lb. bag of quinoa, for example. Or 6 boxes of tea bags. Prime Pantry is supposed to let you fill a box with normal sizes of things - a 12 pack of Coke, one box of tea bags - for a flat shipping cost. The items aren't the same as what is offered with regular Prime. Well the item might be the same but you don't have to buy in bulk.

I was going to check out prime pantry after we moved and just haven't had a chance to do so yet. I just checked and their prices are a bit more than my initial search and now I can get one item I was going to order at our Walmart cheaper. The reason I was considering pantry vs subscribe and save is that it was cheaper and I didn't have to order in bulk. I don't want 12 Mac and cheese boxes.
I am planning to continue my prime but not seeing anything worth ordering in the pantry. If they had stuff there cheaper than local I could see ordering. There is a certain variety of Mac and cheese that DS just loves but I can't find it locally and if they carried it I would have been tempted to order if I could find other items to add to make it worth while.
I could see it working for some people but don't think it will work from me. I also don't do a lot if subscribe and save but do a few and they are helpful and save me money. But I hear about people that order a ton and I just don't see the deals being worth it to me. That and I don't want to have to store large quantities of so many items.
