Good morning and HAPPY NEW YEAR Ladies and Gents! I hope your new years celebrations were safe and memory filled.
I always get the itch to purge/refresh my memory on what is in my stash this time of year. What about y'all? Do you purge or just go through and refresh for the new year? Or just keep plugging along?
I like a clean fresh slate for the new year. Christmas must be down before New Years, my family were troopers last night helping me take it down quickly at 6/7 pm last night! I will spend today refreshing/cleaning up my scrap space and purging a little as I go. I will clean out the stuff that doesn't go there, go through my paper, organize my memorbilia etc.
It is like a tradition now. Anyone silly like me?

Once I get my cards made it is definitely time to clean up! And while doing that I go thru things but not an actual purge! I will be throwing a lot away as some of it is old and I will not use it. And I am going in there for the day as I have done all kinds of things and this really needs done. But if I am not out in 24 hours send in the troops!g

My scrapbook room is like the rest of the house......I purge when it needs it throughout the year.

Yes, I have been working for two weeks getting rid of a ton. I need to list a bunch for sale that I haven’t donated. My studio is looking great and ready to play!

I don't feel the urge to purge this time of year. I feel the urge to PLAY with my stuff! After a busy month of December, I want to dive into my stash and start creating something with it. When I was working as an instructor I would be going back to the college right after New Years, but since I am now retired, I have the luxury of spending the coldest days of the year in my cozy scraproom playing with my stuff old and new!
This year, I still have gift shopping for myself to do. Have 3 M's gc's, a LSS store credit, and some gift cash burning a hole in my wallet. Normally, I would have picked up my gifts before now, but it has been murderously cold here and not conducive to random shopping trips. So I am not ready to give up on Christmas joy yet!
We don't take down Christmas until after Ukrainian New Years mid January. And I don't usually store away my Christmas crafting supplies until after I have scrapped Christmas. Don't have enough photos for a full Christmas album this year, but there will be several pages for my Winter album, so once our house guests leave today, I will be ready to pull out the paper and glue!
And to be honest, I have always been WAY more ready to make a mess than to clean one up!

Well I have been in here for 2 hours and only managed to clean off the surfaces, chat with dasmith2, buy a class, and make our "Happy memories 2018" jar. But the juices are flowing now!

I purged my scrap supplies not too long ago, but I hope to be getting donations together from other parts of the house this month, if I can get some help from my family.

I cleaned so much this week while I have been off. I unkitted everything I own. I combined all my embellishments. I cleaned up all my shelves. I am wondering why I did it since I actually use my stuff as kits but I’m excited it’s all consolidated now. And I found a bunch of great supplies I forget I had.

I never got to the store to pick up my holiday gift because it's an hour away in a direction I never travel.

I have a few things left that I need to go through, there are definitely some things I can organize better!

I do feel the urge to clean up and get rid of the excess (of everything!) at this time of year, but I don't do it until a little later. I love the idea of the fresh start, but it's not realistic for me - projects carry on (just as life does - the calendar date really doesn't signify any real kind of break/start-finish to me). I want to finish my Christmas journal but I don't take down Christmas until Epiphany, New Year's is part of my Xmas celebration, we have family in town, etc etc. So I clean up what I can, set aside donations as I find them (always), but when the Christmas decorations come down I'll do a better clean up and clearing out. I'm looking forward to it right now because I'm feeling quite overwhelmed, but I need to get WIP projects done.

I love organizing and purging, LOL, so I do it a few times a year. During December my art room was such a mess from doing so many different things that I started avoiding going in there. I just can't deal with clutter. So I started tidying in small ways this past week and I'm looking forward to getting in there and creating again.
I'm still finishing up printing photos for my December Daily album, and then I'd like to start playing with some Christmas gifts, like the various widths of parallel pens I received.

I usually don't feel the need at this time of year.
However, I got a new sewing machine and want to totally reorganize my room now because of it. I recently purged, so it's more of a freshen the space because of the new machine.

I am not one to purge my supplies ever. I suppose this is something I should revisit, especially since I am rapidly running out of space in my scrap room. Despite all of my efforts it is becoming increasingly difficult to tidy in there...there just isn't a place for everything!

I just come home after work and shut myself in to scrap.

I’ve been cleaning and tidying other areas of the house and garden but haven’t got to my craft room yet. It’s on the list though!

Well I haven't tidied anything but what I mentioned earlier but I got a nap in today WOOHOO! I also redid our letter board and did a layout. I figure tomorrow the kids go back to school so I will have uninterrupted time to go through paper then!

I wish I could but that is not going to happen. Last year I did that big paper purge. I know I am not motivated this year.

It is a jar that you write down good/fun things all year long. Then on NYE you sit and read those things to remember your year. You can include the hard things too (we will) but it is an exercise in mindfulness, reframing your thoughts and gratefulness. Also SLOWING DOWN and living in the present, something I need desperately! Edited picture. Much better. I took an old cashew jar, cleaned it out and decorated it. I made it match our living room so hopefully I won't want to toss it half way through the year. lol

I'm ready to start enjoying scrapbooking after being way too busy since Thanksgiving.
My method of purging is to keep a donate box ready all the time. As I scrap, if I come across a sheet of paper I know I won't use, in the box it goes.
I'm also much more willing to toss those partially used stickers, etc.

My scraproom stays fairly organized, as I find it hard to create with too much stuff distracting me. That being said, I have too much stuff and would love to get rid of the things that no longer appeal to me. I have no idea where to donate unwanted supplies and I would feel “wasteful” throwing it away even though it is likely to never be used. Anyone just throw things out.

I refuse to throw out anything that might be useful to someone (I think I'm pretty realistic about what that means). I have a friend with a kid who gets some bits & bobs, and a local thrift shop has a good craft section even for small random things so I donate there. There's a system where you can send boxes of stuff to charity for free with the Amazon boxes you receive - maybe helpful if you don't have thrift stores nearby. They often repackage and bundle craft supplies together at my Goodwill so hopefully if you donated through that program the things would go to good use. Also, it doesn't actually have to be an Amazon box, but if you're like me you probably have a few of those around... www.amazon.com/p/feature/xde6cauvpfp66o2 OR givebackbox.com/worksDetail (it says you can donate anything, except a few hazardous exceptions)

Once I am done with my December Daily I always feel like purging. So I suspect one I am done with that project I will clean everything out.

crystalb the memory jar is a great idea I started organising yesterday; a new folder for the photographs this year with a folder for each month and archiving last year's photos. Backing up all my files to the external cloud we have - must remember to do that more often, daily would probably be a good idea and it wouldn't take so long. Checked all the bank accounts/cards and set up my spreadsheet for this year. Spent some money!I signed up for OLW and Digital Story Kit from Ali Edwards. Subscribed to the Photographer deal for Lightroom and Photoshop. I'm switching to Photoshop after 11 years of PaintShop Pro. I'm tired of the adverts they keep pushing through, no matter how I try to turn them off. If I pay £70 or whatever for a program I don't want adverts all over it for stuff I can buy, nor do I want a pop-up ad even when the program is closed! If it warms up, later I might even tackle my craft desk As it's near a big window it can be cold this time of year. Fortunately it's organised in there; I think it's just the tissue paper I'm saving that I need to put away.

I just put two envelopes in the mail to scrappy online friends; one filled with embroidery floss, the other with brads and eyelets.

I think my biggest yen this time of year is for my room to be organized and orderly. I worked from 12/26 to 12/31 on clearing "hot spots" - storage places that had some disarray to them. It felt great to get my room whipped back into shape.
I only ever purged once, and that was when I moved into my new cabinets in May 2017.

I don't normally purge but this year, as I was splitting up my DD kit and putting it away, I decided to have a little bit of a clean out. What started with only a couple of drawers is turning into a full space purge. I'll finish it up today with paper (including scraps) and alphas.
