I feel like this thread is against literally everything they are trying to represent. Like women always have to look amazing and have the perfect dress and makeup and weight or they get ripped apart and men get to do whatever they want (including sexually harass and assault women) and they can just put on the same tux every other dude is wearing and not even bother to wash their hair or shave their face and no one says a damn thing about it.

If a guy looks bad, I'll say something too. So far they've all looked good. ...Just because we want women to be treated fairly in Hollywood, sex, pay, etc, doesn't mean we can't comment on how they are dressed for a red carpet. I mean. why have red carpets then? or even awards shows??

For what it's worth, James Franco still looks like he need to be bathed. With a fire hose.

I find black dresses boring, I think it’s unfair to force everyone to wear it or else they’re seen as not supportive.

They didn't have to wear black. that's why they had those pins made up, for those that had their dresses planned and bought they said, could wear the pins.

I wish I could have watched the red carpet, but we weren't home.I have absolutely no desire to watch the political bashing that will ensue during the actual awards, so I will not be watching.

Seth Meyers's monologue is fire. It's no surprise he ran it by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

They let Nicole Kidman talk forever always. ALWAYS Yes. I am no fan of Nicole Kidman, but I loved her speech. It was a good start to the evening. I thought it was perfect. Also, Gal Godot is adorable!!!

I don't necessarily agree that this thread is all about that, but I have noticed this: I wasn't implying that that is all the thread was about, but that's what it turned into. I expected to hear about fashion and maybe about how awesome these women are, I guess I didn't expect to come in here, on a night that's supposed to represent women in solidarity with each other, and see other women saying things like: or or etc.

Me either...although to be honest--I rarely watch award shows. I don't think it's been political at all. They have talked a lot about the abuse and not keeping quiet. Laura Dern, who looked fabulous, gave such a wonderful speech. Loved it!

Daniel Kaluuya was robbed. And also, "Get Out" is not really a comedy, so...

It’s making me emotional seeing the solidarity with wearing black. So freakin awesome. I’m sure there were a lot of last minute dress changes for the event. I am so in. Seth is my very favorite night talk show host. I love him and also Colbert. If you watch him on old episodes of SNL, he can't keep from laughing.

Maybe it's just me - but the entire throng of women there are all wearing black in solidarity.
And then Catherine Zeta Jones gets up there with Kirk Douglas in a black body suit covered in a lace skirt?
Somehow strikes me as defeating the purpose, kwim?

Seth Myers slated it!
His jokes about Kevin Spacey were so funny!
I'm glad it wasn't a political monologue.
I hate when they bring out elderly talents like Kirk Douglas so late in their lives. Makes me sad.
