So trump gets pissed that people did not clap for him. But pence can do the same damn thing to someone else a week later and it's okay? Funny how that works.

So, the entire stadium stands and claps for the Korean team...all except Mike Pence. This is a screen shot I took. He has his back to you. He also requested...Er demanded that Kim Jon Ung's sister be nowhere near where he was sitting. They had to rearrange all VIP seating because of it. I just saw a photo of him on TV, sitting (as described) just a couple of feet in front of her. Pence was just insulting and sickening. The entire ceremony was about peace and unity and Pence and his disgusting wife just flipped everyone the finger. So classy. NOT!

The whole idea of the Olympic Games when they were started was to call a truce to the fighting and share this experience together. Whether the joint team or the glow of the shared experience will do anything to actually gain peace in the long term we don't know. But it's nice to pretend. Just for a little while.
It scares me that (a) Trump loves high "ratings", and (b) the highest polling numbers for US presidents in the past have been in times of crisis (after 9-11, the Cuban missile crisis...). And that fear makes me suspect that it is not in DT's interest to even PRETEND there could be peace between these two countries.

John le Carre couldn't come up with a story like what is happening in DC right now.
What we have is a shady businessman turned Reality Tv personally who decided to run for President and wins.
During the campaign this guy surrounded himself with an interesting group of people, some in key positions within the campaign and later in the transition team. People that were not well known in mainstream politics. Which on the surface wasn’t surprising since the man was considered an outsider so it made sense he would pick outsiders as well.
But then stories started to surface about some of these people like Manafort and his questionable ties to Russia and The Ukraine. Michael Flynn who was fired by the Obama Administration for cause. And then there was Carter Oage who has claimed he acted as an adviser to the Kremlin.
As the campaign progresses Manafort leaves because of those questionable ties to foreign countries and is replaced by Steve Bannon a man known to have white nationalist beliefs and ties. Also it surfaces that the Russians don’t want Hillary Clinton to win the election and was meddling in the election to ensure Hillary didn’t win. And the dossier appears. A year later the information on the dossier hasn’t been proven and more importantly disproven.
The man takes office. His NSA Mike Flynn has to resign because the acting AG Sally Yates advises the White House council there is information on Flynn that could compromise him. More stories surface that members of trump’s team meet with Russians during the campaign and during the transition time. trump’s AG recuses himself from any Russian investigation that involves the campaign and transition period. trump fires the FBI Director Comey and the tells Russian officials in the Oval Office that should take care of the Russia thing.
Rob Rosenstein takes care of the “Russia thing” by appointing Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate the “Russia thing”.
Ever since then trump has been trying to get Mueller fired. He can’t fire him directly and at this point the only one who can is Rob Rosenstein. And since Mueller has indicted Flynn, Manafort, Rick Gates, and George Papadopoulos, three of who are willing to turn state’s evidence for lighter sentences, there is no reason for Rosenstein to fire Mueller.
Well this frustrates trump to no end because as the shady businessman he is used to getting his own way. Our checks and balances were set up to stop presidents like shady businessman trump from getting his own way as president if it’s not in the best interest of the people of this country.
But shady businessman turned president has a little stooge by the name of Nunes who is using his power as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee to obain classified information, not normally given to these committees by the FBI or DOJ, to build a narrative to lay the groundwork for the removal of Rob Rosenstein and therefore pave the way for his replacement that will fire Mueller and end the Russia investigations.
The Nunes memo centers around FISA warrants issued for one Carter Page. The narrative is there never should have been any FISA warrants issued for Carter Page because basis was the unproven Steele Dossier and since Rob Rosenstein signed off on a FISA warrant request he is no longer trust worthy and should be dismissed.
Problem is Carter Page has been on the FBI’s radar since 2013 when he interacted with known Russian spys and actually wrote he was an adviser to the Kremlin. Then he pops up, litterly out of no where, as one of trump’s foreign policy advisers. And the. He made a trip to Russia, met with Russian officials and gave what was called a “pro Russia” speech. This put him back on the FBI’s radar, they put together the paperwork for a FISA warrant, and they included the Steele Dossier, presented the paperwork to the FISA judge who signed off on it. A FISA warrant has to be renewed every 90 Days. The FBI/DOJ had the warrant renewed 4 Times. Rob Rosenstein only signed the last one.
The Nunes memo is nothing but a carefully cherrypicked memo to discredit the DOJ/FBI and specifically Rob Rosenstein with the goal of removing him and replacing him with someone who will fire Mueller. Friday two interesting things happened. First trump refused to release the Democratic version of the memo that sets the record straight. Adam Schiff & Company are working on it but the real question will it ever be enough for trump to agree to release it.
The second interesting thing that happened on Friday is the number 3 person at the DOJ left. One Rachel Brand, a trump appointee who would have stepped into Rosenstein’s place if he was removed, left to go and work for WalMart. (She must have really wanted out to go and work for WalMart)
The person who replaced her and possibly replace Rosenstein is another trump appointee by the name of Noel Francisco who by all accounts would bow to his master and fire Mjeller if he should end up taking Rosenstein’s place.
Shady businessman turned president claims he is innocent but has done nothing but try and shutdown the investigations. And he has had help from Nunes and Grassley specifically and the GOP in Congress in general.
But you have to ask yourself if he has nothing to hide why potentially break the law to shut down the investigations. And why were Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, Michael Flynn, George Papadopoulos, and Carter Page part of the campaign and some part of the transition team and admistration? Why these specific men? Is it a case of trump’s bad choice of personal or were they the only ones he could get? Or are they all connected and the dots lead straight to Mother Russia?
I would think everyone who lives in this country would want to know one way or the other if the shady businessman turned president is in bed with a country that’s not our friend. But apparently not. And that I don’t understand.

I’m surprised this little jewel from trump hasn’t made its way over here yet...
“Peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation. Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused - life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?”
This is coming from the shady businessman turned president who has no problem destroying men’s careers to shut down an investigation that’s purpose is to find out the truth. Priceless.

He truly picks the best people. Only the best! Well one of his best friends (Jeffrey Epstein) is an alleged child molester. Trump is also alleged to have raped a 13 year old girl at Epstein's house. What do do you Expect? And THIS is what I clearly recall in the 80's in NYC. There were too many young girls (ages 12 and up) saying the same thing! Some got out and some didn't. Google it if you don't already know the details, Peas. Epstein had a woman working for him who'd pull young girls out of malls and from the streets of NYC, asking if they'd want to model. She'd invite them to Epstein's house for a party to give them "exposure", except that they'd get raped by Epstein and his friends. The woman who worked for Epstein later recalled a few of the rapes through depositions. She said that Trump wanted the youngest ones and he wanted to be the first one to have $ex with her, even before Epstein did. He was brutal and violent and threatening. He threatened her life and the life of her family if she ever said a word, plus he'd use the "Maria threat". Maria was a young girl who was in the same position, and she suddenly disappeared. Trump insinuated that something bad happened to her. Nice, eh?? This ALL was Google-able to anyone who wanted to research Trump before possibly voting for him or being behind him. I recall the young girl scams/rapes because I lived in NY and I thought it was common knowledge back then. There are other schemes Trump was in just so he could be near young, beautiful girls (like his "modeling agency"). He's a sick MFer. Then when you have time, research Felix Sater. God, that was enough to have Trump go to jail forever, but yet he's eluded lawsuits and arrests. Even with his "Soho" hotel (vs. the REAL Soho House, which is famous and on the up and up), he bought is way out of that scam and saved his kids' asses. Creep!

Re: Nancy Pelosi's 4" heels: Kudos to her!!!!!!!! I still wear HIGH heels at age 57. I won't give them up. I can walk in them better than I can in flats. That being said, it does hurt to stand in them for too long, so I'm amazed and in awe of her standing for so long, especially at her age!! I mainly wear them because I'm very short (4'10 1/2" now!), so it does help to gain a few inches in height. Maybe Ms. Pelosi wears them for the same reason? The 4" heels do deserve a big kudos though!! I wouldn't care what shoes she wears as long as she remains as tough and vigilant as she is, so the modified Mary Janes would be fine with me (for her).
As for Teresa May's shoes, that's cute! Reminds me of Justin Trudeau's socks--everyone comments on them. People will always have something to say about politician's clothes/shoes.

I really don't want to turn this political but I was embarrassed for the US that pence didn't stand or even clap for the Korean athletes. This is not about politics or shouldn't be. It's the one time all nations can come together as one. South Korea is our host and put on a beautiful ceremony. pence could have stood to honor that at least. Shame on him. Those kids trained their whole lives to be a part the Olympics. They deserve honor and respect. He should have stood, damn it.

Yeah. Remember the whole pizza gate thing where Hillary was supposedly running a child sex ring? Everything the right makes up about Democratic candidates turns out to be true about one of their own. This is what my husband says every time trump accuses someone of doing something. You can always tell what he is guilty of by what he accuses anyone else of doing. That is how cons operate. Bingo. You know what accusation he made over and over again that keeps coming back to me? That the election was rigged. Gives us all pause, doesn't it?

This from trump...
“Republicans want to fix DACA far more than the Democrats do. The Dems had all three branches of government back in 2008-2011, and they decided not to do anything about DACA. They only want to use it as a campaign issue. Vote Republican!”
Prompted this respone from Dan Pfeiffer...
“Point of fact: The Republicans filibustered the Dream Act in 2010 which had 50 votes in the Senate and had already passed the House.
It was true and it's true now: Republicans are the problem.”
Why do your think sometimes I refer to Mitch as Mitch (I never met a filibuster I didn’t like) McConnell?
As far as trump goes, does he ever get the facts right?

“My view is that not only has Trump been vindicated in the last several weeks about the mishandling of the Dossier and the lies about the Clinton/DNC Dossier, it shows that he’s been victimized. He’s been victimized by the Obama Administration who were using all sorts of.......
....agencies, not just the FBI & DOJ, now the State Department to dig up dirt on him in the days leading up to the Election. Comey had conversations with Donald Trump, which I don’t believe were accurate...he leaked information (corrupt).” Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch on @foxnews”

Steve Benen on trump blaming the Democrats for not passing DACA in Congress.
“- Dems didn't control all three branches in 2008 or 2011 - GOP filibustered Dream Act - Obama created DACA - Trump rescinded DACA - Dems have offered Trump multiple bipartisan deals to rescue Dreamers. Trump rejected each of them - He should stop insulting Americans' intelligence”
I really like and agree with his last sentence.
